There's one artist I can't determine - between Cat Stevens and Boston.

For some reason, we had one of each in our home. Both were my sister's, I think Mom & Dad got her one for Christmas and the same Christmas an aunt got her the other. I wasn't allowed to play with either one, so naturally I learned how to splice tape and did so with glee until there was only about 10 feet left on either reel. I didn't do much really good splicing, but sister and her friend liked to do little interviews of each other, and I'd cut the answers out and flip the tape around so the girl answering sounded like a martian...

I had a Sears portable cassette recorder in the early '70s on which I could alter the speed at which it recorded by holding the holding the play and record buttons partially down - not locked down.  It would go slower or faster depending on how far they were pressed, but it made for (then) hilarious recordings of people talking.

I just got through cleaning and repairing this '65ish vintage AIWA "Briefcase" recorder I got from a yard sale a while back. The original owner must have gotten bored with it pretty quickly as it still has the original AIWA batteries in it (and they didn't leak!), still has the original take up reel and tape that came with it new and the lid still has the keys! The tape has Frank S'notra on it.

So I found a box with about 24 cassette singles of the Christmas song I wrote/recorded in 1997. The cover was lovingly designed by a good friend of mine who made real the idea I had in my head. I sold gobs of these when I first had them made——but now, well, they are dinosaurs.
And yet....I can't bear to throw them in a landfill. (Even thought the mp3 has been pirated and is out there on the Innernetz for free)

Has anyone here at RP tried this or something similar? I would love to digitize my cassette collection.
I use Cakewalk Pyro 2004 for LP's to digital...
http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Cakewalk-Pyro-2004/1018826601/1

It works well.
You become a mixer using this software.
It can be a little tedious.
It will work with cassettes also.

I don't use the download version.
So I'm not sure if it works as good as the "bought" version.
