That's OK, we're insured
Are you aching for the grave?
That's OK, we're insured
We're getting away with it all messed up
Getting away with it all messed up
That's the living
Daniel's saving Grace
She's out in deep water
Hope he's a good swimmer
Daniel plays his ace
Deep inside his temple
He knows how to serve her
We're getting away with it all messed up
Getting away with it all messed up
That's the living
We're getting away with it all messed up
Getting away with it all messed up
That's the living
Daniel drinks his weight
Drinks like Richard Burton
Dance like John Travolta
Now
Daniel's saving Grace
He was all but drowning
Now they live like dolphins
We're getting away with it all messed up
Getting away with it all messed up
That's the living
We're getting away with it all messed up
Getting away with it all messed up
That's the living
We're getting away with it all messed up
Getting away with it all messed up
That's the living
Oh, getting away with it all messed up
Getting away with it all messed up
That's the living
Getting away with it
We're getting away with it
That's the living
That's the living
I HATE it when the audience claps to the music.
18 years on from your comment and I'm happy to tell you that no one claps now. They are too busy recording videos that they'll never watch with a phone held directly in your line of sight.
Sounds like a counter-culture theme song.
Getting away with it all messed up. .....
This must be one helluva live party band.
They are...was fortunate enough to see them at
The Masquerade in Atlanta many, many years ago. What a great night.
An example: Trump
You.
I love James and I love this song.
Im Making this my theme song for 2023
-Daniel
Did you get away with it?
An example: Trump
c'est moi?

For those not familiar with the term, Urban Dictionary nails it on the pointy head.
Urban Dictionary definition of "assclown"
A person who is laughable and detestable at the same time. Usually pretends to be a know-it-all, often enhancing their stories, knowledge, experience, and every thing in between with pure bullshit.

it was (the band) for my friends and i back in the day, for sure.
Is this song inspired by the film? I've always wondered. Does anyone know?
Just for clarity - I like the song and i liked the film.

Anyone else think he sounds like Ethel Merman or is it just me?
I hear a bit of Ian Hunter
" i love this song"
"let's see what they say in the comments"
"...... ................... ................"
"oh, but they dont speak of music ....."
Joining everyone who

you mean, Trump?
No, look in the mirror, it is you!

I would love to have access to whatever drugs you're taking!
How does this comment not have a bizzillion up thumbs?
Good lord, homophobia, too? Stingy, is there no end to your neuroses?
Very James, then!
PS
The beginning of the song is gorgeous, then it turns into a gay-bar rocker! I literaly see "them"!
PPS
Why is it a neurosis, when I state "very gay"? My neurosis or yours...?
Just kidding! The song is OK - but the Stranglers, Vibrators or Clash are definitely less gay!

Prompts me to wonder how 6th grade is going for Stingray...

You could write a 500-page autobiography and we wouldn't learn anything more than we need to know than what you told us with these two words. Bravo.
Yup. Says a lot about socio-economic background......

Est-ce que il est tombé sur la tit?

In the performance from which this track is taken, they started the song and screwed it up, and had a good laugh at themselves. The "thriving on chaos" comment is at the end of that first aborted attempt, then they try again.
something wrong with my quotey thing here... OLDSAXON speaking from here down.
That's a lesson. What sounds pretentious was really out of context funny. Gotta hate the sound bite monsters. Not fair to the speakers...
Yeah, that's real "chaos"

Ah, now THAT makes sense.

I'm sorry.
I just have a personal prejudice against songs that repeat one lyric over and over,
backed up by relentless, repetitive drum bashing and one-note guitar solos.
EDIT: Unless it's Neil Young...
Agreed. Except for the Neil Young part.
...read the critics first - before writing this!
After the first 10-20 seconds I thought:" oooh, who's that?"
Then I checked and wondered it was "JAMES".
I knew the name of the band
of course, but not their music!
I liked this first 10-20 seconds - have to admit that!
(but have to insist it was just that - 20 sec. max).
Then I read the critics, while the song was continuing!
And yes, soon had to agree that it was just a silly little song!
I give it a 3, though!
And that means,
"No, James, I did not let you get away with it!"
You really have to hear more of their stuff. Laid and Ball of Frustration are two of my favorite songs EVER.

Yeah, if it's Neil Young, it's an automatic 1!

,That my friend is impossible, it either sounds British or it doesn't. I for one love British bands,
especially Elbow now!
Omg, this live version is just kick-ASS !
Well, this is certainly a good opportunity to relieve myself of the morning coffee before I do the same!
Please play MORE James

More James, pleeeeease!!!!
*bops around in her chair*
Absolutely wonderful after Neil Finn - Don't Dream It's Over (live), too, btw.

And they sound drunk... in a bad way.

When i wrote that, and rated this song it was a live version. But it's morph'ed into a studio version. I'm disappointed by that...
