I picked up a book called The Knitting Circle for me to read. I was reading to Augusta from the iPod tonight Alice's Adventures in Wonderland from Project Gutenberg through Stanza while snuggled on the couch. I got up from our reading to put the dog out or let the dog in or something otherwise distracting and Augusta had read ahead a couple of chapters on her own, adeptly scrolling the pages of the iPod. When did that little baby learn to READ and operate small electronics?

Not in English yet.   We don't get a huge number of books in transaction compared to some European countries.  I've read a lot of Scandinavian literature but we usually have to wait for it to be a big European hit before they'll release an English version.

Not sure if they are translated in English already, they should! I think he even comes close to writers like George Pelecanos and Dennis Lehane, maybe a tad less 'warm".

I'm reading a Swedish crime trikogy (the Stockholm Trilogy). It's way better (faster paced and better written) than Stieg Larsens Millenium trilogy. But... only the first two are translated into Dutch, drives me nuts to have to wait for the third another year!

Don't read State of Fear by Michael Crighton. 

I have loved Crighton for vacation reading!  But this book was so full of pontificating and endless "dialog" which was just Crighton RANTING about his distain for Global Warming theories.  Awful stuff.

That was enough to catch my attention. I opened the book and before the end of the first page I was hooked! I have sought out eveyr book of his I can lay my hands on. I was fortunate to pick up a couple more when I last was in Scotland, two years ago. Then I found, recently, these two, aforementioned, on Amazon. I am waiting with baited breath for Pandaemonium, to be released August 13th, to find its way to my bookshelf.
