In my misspent youth, a friend and I got tickets for a Ted Nugent show. There was no opening act listed on the bill, just Nugent. We had never heard of Rush. Anyway, they showed up and played a scorching set - and two encores. When Nugent finally got on stage, it was obvious that he was quite pissed about it.
Way back in late 1973 I went to a Mott The Hoople show in Gainesville Florida because ZZ Top was the opening act. They were still a regional band from my home state in Texas and were touring their Rio Grande Mud album that had just dropped. They came out & blew the house down, played FIVE encores. Mott came out & after about 3-4 tunes the place started to empty out, including us. I was in the Navy stationed in Brunswick Georgia at the time.

I really havenât heard them with her yet & tix to their Denver shows were out of my ballpark. They seem to be honoring Neil Peart (not Peary) & not setting expectations that sheâll match up. In my view, he was/is among the top 3 rock drummers of all time, not to mention a killer lyricist. Hard to come close to him. But I get it that Geddy & Alex want to play their music again after a long period of mourning. Wishing them all best. â®ï¸
Just remembered that OV came with me to one of the Red Rocks shows, one of the first things we did together.
And what do you think of the new drummer for Rush Anika Nileâs. Yes sheâs no Neil Peary butâ¦
