there's a framed article on the waiting room wall about it. Apparently, Leon is a dentaphobe and neglected his teeth. When he was inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame in 2008, his wife (also a patient of Dr. Thurm) convinced him to get them done for the ceremony. In gratitude, Leon gave Dr. Thurm one of his gold records. it was a Lou Rawls record.
Leon still lives in the South Jersey area. His partner, Kenny Gamble lives in Philly and teaches music at a charter school.
