I worked at the Jethro Tull 50th anniversary show tonight in the pouring rain. They were certainly impressive (even though not totally my cup of musical tea) after all these years. The crowd had a neat (and loyal) vibe, too. JT's music just makes me think of my big brother Chris who I used to hear playing bass along with his JT albums in his room.

Lazy8 wrote:Red Ants Pants again. Lucinda Williams The Waifs Jeffrey Foucault James McMurtry Mandolin Orange Cool. I might be solo that weekend I've seen Lucinda, James McMurtry, both of those were great shows. Last time I saw Asleep at the Wheel Ray was really selling the Bob Wills stage play something something so there was a lot of talk between songs. That was 10 years ago tho. I didn't think he was playing guitar very well, either, but I'd be willing to say it was just an off night. Hot Club of Cowtown is a Do Not Miss. edit: They're the curtain-raisers at Noon on Sunday. Those people up there are nuts.

Driving to work today, the statewide public radio station mentioned a festival in Jackson Wyoming. This weekend. First I've heard of it. I'd have been interested but can't go... sort of ticked off that they have stuff over there and don't even bother telling the rest of the state. They're so special. Thievery Corporation Roadkill Ghost Choir Deltron 3030 ...

I saw Lyle Lovett & Robert Earl Keen together 20 years ago. Oof, I wish it were like 9 hours closer.
Robert Earl plays my friends little venue every year at the opera house in SC. Seats about 50 people, that is intimate!

The Smashing Pumpkins - Marilyn Manson show is, well, sort of, um, curious.

The summer lineup at Red Rocks is the best I've ever seen. I could easily be at a dozen of these shows. Alas...

Ratings for the shows I have seen so far this year: The Both ( Aimee Mann) 9.5, Jackson Browne 6.5, Bob Dylan 8.0, John Mellencamp 4.1, and The Who 9.9. Sure hope Jeff Lynne will tour soon. Has anyone heard how Paul Kantner of Jefferson Starship is doing since his recent heart attack ?
