I'll never be your beast of burden
My back is broad but it's a hurting
All I want is for you to make love to me
I'll never be your beast of burden
I've walked for miles my feet are hurting
All I want is you to make love to me

Am I hard enough
Am I rough enough
Am I rich enough
I'm not too blind to see

I'll never be your beast of burden
So let's go home and draw the curtains
Music on the radio
Come on baby make sweet love to me

Am I hard enough
Am I rough enough
Am I rich enough
I'm not too blind to see

Oh little sister
Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, girl
You're a pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty girl
Pretty, pretty
Such a pretty, pretty, pretty girl
Come on baby please, please, please

I'll tell ya
You can put me out
On the street
Put me out
With no shoes on my feet
But, put me out, put me out
Put me out of misery

Yeah, all your sickness
I can suck it up
Throw it all at me
I can shrug it off
There's one thing baby
That I don't understand
You keep on telling me
I ain't your kind of man

Ain't I rough enough, ooh baby
Ain't I tough enough
Ain't I rich enough, in love enough
Ooh! Ooh! Please

I'll never be your beast of burden
I'll never be your beast of burden
Never, never, never, never, never, never, never be

I'll never be your beast of burden
I've walked for miles, my feet are hurting
All I want is you to make love to me,
Yeah

I don't need no beast of burden
I need no fussing
I need no nursing
Never, never, never, never, never, never, never be

Same here!!   It is much better NOW in FLAC w/ great studio phones, amp & DAC!
I have that LP record ...uncensored version
SOME GIRLS another Stones 5 Star album
Keith's guitar really scintillates in this song.
Went to see them at Cleveland Stadium on this tour because I thought I'd better go before they get too old to play out anymore....

Never ones to slavishly follow trends, but always influenced by the times,
the Stones spent
more than one night at Studio 54 in the late 70's, and 'Miss You' was the result.
SOME GIRLS was Keith's 'recovery' album. Off smack, and not yet too fucked up by alcohol, his
guitar work with Ronnie Wood, especially on this, 'Beast of Burden', would never be better.
Currently on Tour, they'll be here in Seattle at Clink in 2 weeks, and so will I.

I'm a near-all-around Stones fan, but I downright object to this song.  It would have been a better fit on that (2-Marginal) trashcan of an album Emotional Rescue.

Wonder if Respectable is on the playlist.

You might not be as much of an all-around Stones fan as you claim.

Such a fan would most certainly appreciate Dance (pt 1), Send It To Me, Let Me Go, and She's So Cold.  All found on Emotional Rescue.
Hugely underrated song.  Just bought a fabulous cover of this from Big Head Tod!
Lawdy me! This song STILL makes every woman on the planet want to, well you know what, Mick Jagger. It's just truly astonishing, that one man's, er, staying powers.

Going on 40 years old. And it's the last Stones album which imho could be considered uniformly decent to very good. They were on the starting to lose their mojo, and it was fading even here.

Awesome song but I think Bette Midler's version is better though.

For the Stones, awful...pathetic - coasting in the most obvious way.

I agree, a definite "ho-hum" for me.

Geez wiz.

Those were the days....{#Bananajam}
I read all this negativity for other groups in the comments. So I felt compelled to throw mine in here. I grew up listening to these guys. They have one or two of there songs I can listen to. I just have never gotten the Rolling Stones. And this is one of their stupidest songs if you ask me.  I know I'm in the minority. But what a waste of time this song is.
need a prit-tay, prit-tay, prit-tay Larry David gif...
An early favorite of mine from these guys. Maybe not their finest work, but I'll always stop to listen if I hear it while flipping stations.
This song is marvelous...  everybody in my homeless camp be dancing...  time flies when we're having fun...
solid 10   (timeless!)
Its a solid 8, yet its been sounding pointless for more years now than I care to think anymore.
 Shake it!
must admit *blushes* that I prefer the "live" version with Cher. but I love this song nonetheless.

That would be #1 & #3 :-)

A good song on a good album, actually.

Rolling Stones - Beast Of Burden
Otis Redding - I've Got Dreams to Remember "

Just had to hoist this comment from the previous song on the playlist...........

I could not agree more!!  They should have saved it for their crappy Emotional Rescue LP, perhaps moving She's So Cold to Some Girls, that'd have been a better fit.

I agree as well. Some Girls is a really good album compared to the other crap the Stones have churned out.
This reminds me of a certain DJ in Chicago who used to talk about dancing to this song like a white boy.

Very, very nice!
Good Song from a great album.

Also one of the three songs that the Stones played when they first appeared on Saturday Night Live in 78'

I"m afraid I agree.  This was always a throwaway song for me. I do love the tightness of the music - the band was very much in-the-pocket.  Unfortunately, that pocket was a color that clashed horribly with my basic black. {#Lol}  (And I fear I'm starting to sound like Stingray as far as nonsensical comments...) {#Rolleyes}
Truly a Stones song that just never 'did it' for me. To each his own I guess
"Pretty pretty pretty pain cave...."

Name that movie.
Maybe my least favorite Stones song.  Sounds like whining put to music.  And don't get me started on the lyrics.
Is ERIC meant...?
Ain't I rough enough, ooh baby
Ain't I tough enough
Ain't I rich enough, in love enough
Ooh! Ooh! Please

Here's another one I rated low for some reason I can't explain. Must've been in a bad bad mood last time this set played.

Oh man, there were quite a few altered consciousness evenings with my friends, singing all these songs out loud.  KBW, I'll never forget your version of this song!  Never, NEVER, never ever be!

Very nice!

The story on the changing covers from Wikipedia:
The album cover for Some Girls was designed by Peter Corriston, who would design the next three album covers as well. An elaborate die-cut design, with colors varying on different sleeves, it featured The Rolling Stones and select female celebrities in garish drag, as well as a bunch of lingerie ads. The cover immediately ran into trouble when Lucille Ball, Farrah Fawcett, Raquel Welch, and the estates of Judy Garland and Marilyn Monroe threatened legal action. It was withdrawn and the offending pictures removed.

I used to love playing with this album cover as I listened to the music on the record player.
Ah sweet memories of childhood ... thank you Radio Paradise!

A bit too straight forward for me, Stones lite by numbers.
Maybe your speakers suck.

Amen to that. There's a hundred Stones tunes that should be rediscovered. This must have been chosen for all their greatest hits albums.

Hmmmm, the one I'm seeing today is not the original. My LP looked like this: The story on the changing covers from Wikipedia: The album cover for Some Girls was designed by Peter Corriston, who would design the next three album covers as well. It was withdrawn and the offending pictures removed. I remember it well ... Lucy was pissed. "Mickkkkyyyyy! You got some 'splainin' to do!"
The unique album cover earns Bonus Value Credit.

She seduced you with her FARAWAY EYES, you said to yourself JUST MY IMAGINATION, she isn't like SOME GIRLS, she is RESPECTABLE, but you were her BEAST OF BURDEN, leaving you SHATTERED, particularly after all the LIES, fearful of the many times WHEN THE WHIP COMES DOWN. You should have walked out earlier but you thought BEFORE THEY MAKE ME RUN I will stay because I might MISS YOU.

best album from 1975-1980.
