Pretty much the equivalent of being invited to someone's party, eating some of their hor d'oeurves, then approaching the hosts and saying "what the fuck is this??"
Proper etiquette in this situation is to say nothing and question why you're such an a-hole.
Yo.. If you want respect, give it. No dissing Bill and Rebecca dude.
All respect to Laptopdog.
Bill and Rebecca,

I Agree! Thanx RP!
"Wild Is the Wind"
"Le Vent Nous Portera ("The Wind Will Carry Us")
"Talisman" by Air
Twelve years later this album is still in my collection and gets played regularly!
24 years later, is this still in your rotation?
Air is one of our discoveries listening to RP, one of hubby's favorite bands.
This is definitely one of my desert island albums.
Only if I get to take my wife with me too
Air, Zero 7, Hooverphonic; all great bands I discovered here. Ironic that 35 years ago those bands would have driven me batty in 90 seconds. Or maybe no so ironic -- 35 years gives plenty of opportunity to change.
I'll add to your excellent list Explosion in the Sky, that I would have never known without RP :)
I got exposed to "AIr" via RP, and really like it for a breath of fresh... err.. air amongst the other music I listen to. Thanks to RP for exposing me to many bands I would never hear played on commercial radio. That's why I donate to them, and why, if you haven't, you should too.
I just never get tired of reading comments like this.
That's great DJ'ing!
Posted 9 months ago apparently.
Today (3/28/21) we also have Subterranean Homesick Alien followed immediately by Talisman.
That's great DJ'ing!
Korgi?
I feel fine...
Nice!
I like eating dessert to this!
I wonder what the German word for "Segway" is - since it's a product, probably the same thing.
Is Übergang the German word for 'segue' - which BillG is UBER good at, right GANG?
Segway is Segway in german! :-}

Yet: For those who are interested, the beer was by Strangefellows, so totally in keeping with the crowd. The gal (yes, she was a buxom flame haired beauty,) was from the House of Slitherin, as in slithering all over her boyfriend, around over and between - how is that even possible?
Meanwhile her girlfriend was doing her best to insinuate herself into the Gordonian knot. Oh, to be 25 again.
Good on you, mate.

Please supply the exact address so we can all look it up on google maps.
Falling aslepp or staying awake could depend on whether or not someone else were in bed with you; after all, that is a pretty smooth playlist.
Nice playlist.
Well, at least you have some of the music picked out; Godspeed on building your airship.
aw, you spoiled the surprise. But yeah, nice set.
Aaaahiet!

Interesting comment. Perhaps that is why I prefaced libertarian with 'my'. Libertarianism defines freedom with respect to the State or perhaps the States of others who send their armies, for example.
Nobody is suggesting that the government regulate the use of profanity on privately hosted web-sites. It is understood that people do and should use social interaction to influence the use of profanity. In the absence of State intervention, that interaction in principle precludes violence. Once violence including property destruction manifests itself, the State is rarely far behind.
Even radical Libertarians would agree that throwing insults in public must be limited by the force of law due to the value of reputations. Hence the nuanced treatment of private insults versus very public insults.
Yes, yes. Red is the new black - c%nt is the new f@ck or perhaps I miss the point entirely and am making my own that the power of words should not be underestimated and the effective use of profanity is an equal skill to any other style of expression.
Well put. I agree absolutely. Deploying profanity effectively in some circles takes skill and social sensitivity. In others not.
Question is: should traditional peoples who suffer some sort of injury upon hearing profanity in their presence be made to suffer the indignity and general lack of respect? It is one way of communicating disrespect.
Secular materialism does not have to be disrespectful to traditional approaches to what works out to be essentially social cohesion.
I suppose this is all linked to my own personal concerns about violent colonialism and other forms of resource appropriation such as demographic flooding. I understand the temptation to exploit the weaknesses of other peoples; other peoples' weaknesses are like the irresistible pull of sex or the call of highly addictive narcotics. Unfortunately the dominating party often suffers too. Invading and occupying somebody else's territory is no longer as profitable as it once was.

What the fuck is this??
It's a band called "Air", off their 1998 album called "Moon Safari". BTW, the song is entitled "Talisman"... awesum hey?
I really find it strange to be living in a world where 50 something year old relics like me are constantly trying to expand their musical experience while 19 year old kids are listening to nothing but a guitarist (admittedly, probably the best one there has ever been) who has been dead all these many, many years.
That rules.
The banalization of profanity is a relatively new, recent development. I don't know what to think. Unlike many liberal and left-wing bullies, I abhor shoving this sort of symbolic trash down the throats of conservative, traditional peoples. My libertarian utopia does not include gratuitously disrespecting people.
That is bollocks.
totally agree
Actually if I ran the site, I would welcome these types of comments; take note of them and make sure and play this song more often! It is kind of a Darth Sidious type of thing; feeding off of hate, ya know? BTW, I like this song.
Air is a guilty pleasure for me. I know, I need to get out more.
Blech!
What the fuck is this??
If I were Bill, I would disable your account and send you an email that said, "It's our website, that's what it is!" Guess Bill is a nicer guy than I am.
nicer, and not as priggish too.
I sympathize Gorgeous Ned but look around you. Pick up a copy of the Globe and Mail. You might find a few articles using the word "fuck", perhaps quoting sentiments of venture capitalists, where any easy, quick rewrite would have communicated the same message sans profanity.

Paul: you're giving Milwaukee a bad name! Air is a fantastic band. Perhaps you simply need to open your ears — and your mind — a little.
What the fuck is this??
It's why we listen to RP.

What a "meditative" question that is.
Yeah and a good one .. for the ears©

What the fuck is this??
it's Air, the French band. have a listen.
What the fuck is this??
The album came out in 1998, I think the retro sound was/is deliberate. Check out "Talkie Walkie," IMO their best album to date.
Talkie Walkie was a great record, but a few songs on The Virgin Suicides soundtrack are my favorite tracks from them. Playground Love is sublime.
If u want something about the AIR french band, it's here..
So the debut album is "Moon safary" and it was broadcasted in 1998 !!!!! Yes, so old !!
It's quite difficult to know the label, the only stuff I can read on the sleeve is : REVOLVAIR/mca/Polygram for the international, and that address in Paris : SOURCE 13 rue Payenne F 75003 PARIS +331 44 78 82 78. ( a division of Virgin records)
But after that beginning, the duet performed more sounds :
"10 000 Hz legend" is more electronical + "Everybody Hertz" a remix made by other artists, all was out in 2001 (Source/virgin)
And after that : "Taltkie Walkie" out by 2004 (still Source/Virgin) - (they said in interview it's a french joke about walky talky, we're a bit trisomic about english).
So, the more I love is that film soundtrack " the virgin suicide" of Sofia Coppola... if you want oldies keyboards sounds, it's for you !!
Maybe they made a new album... recently I listen to something else.. Keep On.
Thanks grandkrok,
I do hope that all the Radio Paradise listeners know that they can get information on all the bands that RP plays by clicking on the Artist Website button, the Wikipedia Entry button, and the Artist Info (AMG) button which are all located under the rating area, just above the comment section.

a phones rings - a tape plays -
"hi this is Jim leave a message at the beep "
beeeeeep
" Jim, thanks for taking little Billy fishing. He had a great time. Turns out he wasn't even really seasick. Um, have you ever had chicken pox? "

I eventually looked them up on Wikipedia, and as you say they're a recent band with a very serious retro sound. I bought this CD and as it didn't have a date on it assumed that it really was from the 70s as it sounds (some numbers even have vocoders!), so it was quite a (pleasant) shock to learn that they're a modern outfit.
I suppose somewhere in the world ...
me too - catches me everytime.
