Dried up, a guitar upon my knee
I should have sold out when the devil came for me
Dig a hole and throw it out to sea
Break the code, how happy I could be
I still wave at the dots on the shore
And I still beat my head against the wall
I still rage and wage my little war
I'm a shade and easy to ignore
White wall, I had to paint a door
I always find that I've been through it before
Close it up and throw away the key
Break the code, how happy I could be
I still wave at the dots on the shore
And I still beat my head against the wall
I still rage and wage my little war
I'm a shade and easy to ignore
I woke up and I had a big idea
To buy a new soul at the start of every year
I paid up and it cost me pretty dear
Here's a hymn to those that disappear
I still wave at the dots on the shore
I still beat my head against the wall
I still rage and wage my little war
I'm a shade and easy to ignore

Incredible drumming.
I know that Steve is the master mind behind PT. But I must say they are all very disciplined, and talented.
Their live stuff sound better then allot of studio stuff others have put out.

Had the house to myself last night and put this DVD on.
It always makes me feel good.

Damn fine song again by PT. This should be played on RP more often.

Get the new SW "Get All You Deserve" DVD. It's fantastic! I've been watching it about once a day since I bought it.
I missed all you guys!
Is this another song about the music biz?
horstmann: Got the Anaesthetize DVD. Wow! What an amazing concert.
Thinking of Buying New Soul .... doesn't PT do acoustic guitars and synthesizers better than just about anybody else?

Still wondering why Bill doesn't scan the Fish collection a bit more than he does. Thought the thriteenth star had some great songs on it.. Good old Derick Dick..

While this live version is good, the studio version (available on Recordings) is even better.

What amazed me as I looked around the audience at a PT show was the age spectrum. From early teens to the 'older' crowd like ourselves, and everything in between.
First listen. It's been said below, but bears repeating. I was introduced to this band here on RP. Haven't heard a single song that dipped into the "bleh" category. I'm in my 50s, and at times, it gets a little loud and zany for me; but overall, PT's sound is captivating.

And now after seeing the Riv show and the Vic show for this tour I can definitively say I think you are right. The sound in the Riv was the least impressive of the three venues IMO.
But these guys could play in a steel shed and it would still be fantastic.

They did this as the second song on the second set, right after the Start of Something Beautiful. It was a very moving piece of music. Steven really loves to play the acoustic guitar and integrate into their sound. And Richard Barbieri's synthesizers added so much to the abiance of the song.
Great concert. Can't wait to go again but I feel it will be another couple of years before that happens.
Unless I go to Radio City this fall.
This was fantastic live this fall. It wasn't in the set for their return this spring.
Radio City?! Just what I need, another way to spend money...

Cool that RP is playing live cuts from this DVD. PT's performance of "Even Less" is just incredible.

Coma Divine is live from Rome for early PT from the Signify era I think and it has the older drummer on it. It is a really nice album. And you can download this Album "Arriving Somewhere" as a flac file and then upconvert it to .wav files and burn to a CD. Burning shed also has Rock Palast which was recorded on November 19th, 2005 - Deadwing Tour. Another awesome recording if I say so myself. "We Lost the Skyline" is Steven by himself on acoustic and electric guitars at a record store in Orlando Florida. John Wesley also accompanies him on a few of the songs. This is a short 8 song cd and has Steven being very funny and talking to the crowd.
Go to burningshed.com and spend lots of money!
I have all of these albums and they all offer different glimpses of this band.
Peace
What are the live CDs to buy? Are there any live PT CDs that are best avoided?

This is a great DVD. I got H1N1 last week and sat and listened to this in a terminal, fever high and it brought back the adventure of going to Boston last month and Albany a couple of years ago. Such a great band in concert. Probably more fun to see live and listen to them than their works in the studio.
Few bands can do that to the level that this band can.

Wow.
I knew IMMEDITELY, not from the music, but from the crowd noise, that this was the version of Buying New Soul from Arriving Somewhere....
Maybe I've listened to this concert once or twice.
Oh, and I was there for the taping too. :)

Well, with the creative range this band has shown over the years, you can probably find another song/album to better fit your mood when any particular song isn't striking you the right way.
A lot of the music Bill plays strikes me that way. I think that is a good thing . . . complex flavors and acquired tastes usually satisfy longer than simple "fast-food" flavors that I like right away but don't have much "finish." (Did I beat that metaphor to death, or did I see a twitch of life still?)
I just can't quite make up my mind about these guys. Sometimes I like them, sometimes I find them rather lukewarm. Perhaps it has more to do with the mood I'm in when I hear them as opposed to their music?

Marillion with Fish was the greatest. Fish and Marillion belong together.
