Well, I told you pretty baby, such a long time ago,
If I found you with another, well I'd walk right out your door,
Woh, you might call me crazy, but there's one thing you should know,
Oh honey, if you want me to love you,
You've got to give it up or let me go.

I know it's useless to be jealous, I couldn't tire you if I tried,
But when I think of you messing behind my back
It brings a pain I just can't hide.
Oh baby, I've been true to you.
And if I can make that sacrifice, honey you can do it too.

Well, you come home drunk and nasty, you won't tell me where you've been.
Just when things are nice and sweet, you go back out again.
Why do you wanna mess up a good thing?
I'm gonna find me another man, one who wants to give me everything.

Well, I told you pretty baby, such a long time ago,
If I found you with another, well I'd walk right out your door.
Woh, you might call me crazy, but there's one thing you should know.
Oh honey, if you want me to love you,
You've got to give it up or let me go.

Freebo! Tuba!
Yup, you right. You had to be there. '72 was all Bowie, Lou Reed, Mott; great stuff, but there was No Blues. This music jumped right off the turntable.

Gotta agree; I'd prefer a good old slinky blues arrangement.

Guess one had to be there.  Love BR but can't abide that Dixie jazz thing. Busy, over jovial, yet oddly  simultaneously boring and irritating in equal measures.

Normally love Bonnie, but this one - not so much.

She still looks pretty good considering the fairly wild life she lead in her younger days.

Not her first album, Bill. That was 1971. Self titled. The album cover had a dark background with her sitting down in a dark outfit, staring straight into the camera. Recorded at Dave Ray's (of Koerner, Ray & Glover)  studio at Lake Minnetonka, suburban Minneapolis. I still have the album!
Now wasn't she just something? I have this LP (vinyl, 1972) - loved it then, love it now.
I don't think it's possible to overestimate how deftly Bonnie integrated so many different forms of jazz and blues—in this instance Dixieland—into her vocabulary. Amazing tour de force for what was supposed to be a rock'n'roll album.

After all these years, this is still my favorite Bonnie Raitt album. I love Freebo on bass.

I named my pet sand-crab Freebo (before I knew what magic Freebo could perform on bass...) I've never heard this album. First I ever knew of her work was "Home Plate," but it was enough to get me interested in her work.

Should go look for the vinyl in the archive, but maybe y'all know...
Was this the album (or was it the one prior) that was not recorded in tracks, but they all recorded together?
Sounds quite parodic...
Pre - Don Was, with a brass bass line. A gem, no doubt. He did wonders for her market penetration, but lost some of the endearing quirks.
Never thought I'd love a Bonnie Raitt song.  But this is pretty fantastic.  Deserves a dancing banana {#Dancingbanana}

Gotta love Bonnie; kicking butt in the male-dominated music business way back when it just wasn't done (39 years ago, btw).

jaysus mercy, this woman could sing and kept me good company in those dorms.  I loved this entire album. {#Bananajam}

Bonnie with Little Feat, 1972, Georgetown University with Big Boy Arthur Crudup. What a great show and respectful of the traditions that brought us to this kind of music.
This is cool. I had only ever heard the Dixie Chicks' version of this, and had no idea it was a cover.
Gawd, I love her music BEFORE the Grammy...
wow, this was one of my first vinyls!!!  give it up for Bonnie Raitt!!!!

Love the dixieland jazz backdrop to this. 8.
