I wonder who this is about?
Everybody, apparently. Another hate song about everybody who's a bad guy in a world of chaos. Getting old and tiring.
Not a very captivating tune imho, but still, nice to hear that sound and Mansons voice
Start at 7, partly for old times' sake
Shirley Manson can do no wrong.
If I might paraphrase; "holy shit! they're still good, and now even more relevant!"
HA! Well, Shirley has had both hip-joints replaced, which explains the final song, the Day I Met God, and a certain line that had me thinking "what in the hell is THAT?" and doing a quick google search: What was that certain line you ask?
"I found God in Tramadol. "
What the hell is Tramadol? Scramble scramble, look see, look see. Oh...
"Tramadol is an opioid agonist that may be used to treat moderate to moderately severe chronic pain in adults."
That explains that. When both your hip joints are going bad, I guess that accounts for her "religious" experience. I've been fortunate. I'm 12 years older than Shirley and suffer no maladies. I chalk it up to luck and good genetics.
But I get it. I've friends who've gone thru that sort of thing and it comes to this. Aging and its concomitant partner, Time, is a brutal marathon affair that grinds everyone down in one fashion or another. Having something to relieve it must be like experiencing god, don't'cha think? At least it allowed her to create some most righteous music in a style that is all Garbage.
Highlow
I'm older than when they first came out, I trust you can say the same. As is Garbage. But boy, in listening to this album it's pretty clear they've still got it. Older, maybe a bit more, heck a lot more, cracked, chipped and bruised. That final song of theirs, Talking to God, pretty much confirms this. And aren't we all?
But they're still tapped into a groove of a musical source that got them to the first set of musical heights, and it appears they're well on their way to a second look-see from those vistas yet one more time. And probably for the last time (not jinxing just acknowledging that Time is having its way with us all), but baby they're doing it with glory, aren't they?

There are some great tracks on the new Garbage album. The last one really got me, it’s seriously warped.
Yes, same! The end of that song really lands.

Maybe 8 months ago. Not now.
