Remember when we were angels
Before we stole cars
And when sex and drugs
Lived up in another world... not a care in the world

Hide and seek, kissing and running
Till you were out of breath
In the late night day sun
Until you Mamma called you home... and you didn't wanna go

Fly
High
Be my getaway
Gotta getaway

Fly
High
Be my getaway
Gotta getaway

Coppers, robbers, cowboys and Indians
Hanging round the corner
Of the street you lived
How come it felt so far away... just a stone throw away

Your best friend wasn't someone you worked with
And money from your old man
Would burn a hole in yer pocket all day...
Not a single debt to pay

Fly
High
Be my getaway
Gotta getaway...

This was a brilliant but oppressive album. This song is the apex of the album which it really needed!

Wow! 15 years ago?
Where does time go?

I put this song on one of my Eclectic Cuts compilation CD's I make. (I'm working on #47 now.) I do them all in chronological order... starting with music from '77 when New Wave was the Eclectic . Of course, those earlier ones are on cassette.
So this song really reminds me of our drive up the Alcan Highway 2 years ago. I took almost all of my Eclectic Cuts stuff on that drive, knowing there would be a lack of good music on the 3 week trip. This played as we crossed "The Summit" on the Alcan.
Great driving song.

Something very Wilco-ish about this. Maybe that electric guitar?

I was thinking it was more of a "zzzzzzzzugh" kind of song.

Just how big are you?
definitely nice to hear....I also love the album cover and the title....
Soporific but unpleasant, like getting drunk on manky whiskey :(
This Rocks so much!!!
brilliant melody men, can't wait for a greatest hits from them!
Reminds me of Donovan, when he felt playful. Musically, I've heard some Cowboy Junkie tunes that take this tack, danceable without a real hook.

It's a pretty good song, but you drive too slow. Just what I need -- some freakin' happy 'phonics fan hippie in my way!

One of my favourite "phonics" songs. :-)
Saw these guys in the spring and they put on a great show. Really like this whole album.
Keep expecting," Have a NI-I-ICE day..." An 8.
A great driving song with the windows down and a fresh cool autumn breeze blowing in your face...A very strangely addictive song....and very poppy. :goodvibes.gif: :goodvibes.gif:
One of the few here that I considered turning off.

I like the Monaurals better.
This is a nice song, if a bit monotonous.
Voice is totally different than earlier work, good pop sensibility though :)
