So I'll wait for you
Where I always wait
Behind the signs that sell the news
I'll watch for you like yesterday
And hope for you
One day that once
Spent out on me
And up 'til late
I search for you
Your hat pushed straight
Away from me
Your measured step
Heads up you win
Always too late
If I could just once catch your eye
Invisible against the words
That hold you down in solitude
And never let you go
The way that every time
My eyes just close
Like lids of wooden men in file
I put you under rainy day
Your hat's all off
And I'm gone away
Where I always wait
Behind the signs that sell the news
I'll watch for you like yesterday
And hope for you
One day that once
Spent out on me
And up 'til late
I search for you
Your hat pushed straight
Away from me
Your measured step
Heads up you win
Always too late
If I could just once catch your eye
Invisible against the words
That hold you down in solitude
And never let you go
The way that every time
My eyes just close
Like lids of wooden men in file
I put you under rainy day
Your hat's all off
And I'm gone away

This is one of my favorite Cure songs. The lyrics are so sad. One of the best live shows I've ever seen. Loved them since I was 12 and had Robert Smith pin ups from "Smash Hits" all in my locker and bedroom walls.
If this is the cure, I dread the disease.

Actually, I can think of many up-tempo Cure songs, particularly some earlier ones like Fire In Cairo, Jumping Someone Else's Train, Killing An Arab, or later ones like Why Can't I Be You.
Wow, I didn't think I'd ever hear that in my life.. Bill just said that "we're gonna pick up the pace with something from The Cure." You know it was a mellow set when.

A Cure song I've never heard before?! My day is made!
...dust on my brow as the horizon drifts long and far away...

YES!!!
i never thought this song would come on anywhere other than my own stereo! Possibly my favorite Cure song ever but as it's a b-side to Lovesong i never in my wildest dreams expected to hear this!!
i guess the picture that should go along with this is either the Lovesong single sleeve or the Join the Dots compilation
anyway, thank's for playing this!!!
I have SOOO many cure CD's, and my favorites are the b-sides and the live bootleg (or semi bootleg) ones. Fantastic song and neat versions, and you can often find them in the bargain bin.
Takes me back, years of angst, trying to fit in, pursuing the impossible girl...
I have wondered why this song didn't make it onto an album and instead languished as a B-side. I guess it was too upbeat for disintegration
...autumn's dusk and i'm in love with the world...
Absolutely fantastic rarity. Thanks, Bill!
I love this!

I'm not much of a cure fan, but this is great! Only on RP can one hear an obscure 20 year old b-side! I think I gotta hunt down "Join the Dots: b-sides and rarities."
