Someone else played this song? "Really" has been one of favorite albums for 50 years (when all albums were "vinyl," except for a few re-releases on crappy sounding cassettes). Saw Cale live at the Paramount in Austin back in the day. Might have missed a few things since then. Happy to hear it on RP, though, along with a lot of good stuff from more recent decades.

What you call boring others call mellow, laid-back and soul-soothing... I do however find later Clapton too clinically metronomic so see where you are coming from.

wow after water of love I really see the connection between Cale and Knopfler now. Used to listen to Cale in the late 70s as a young teen and thought OK, now at 52 i am rediscovering how great JJ was. Thanks RP, another new old discovery!

Mr. Cale has always captured the essence of his influences. I think this is why Eric C. gravitated to J.J. Cale. Clean and pure blues, with no conflict about whether he is black enough, or whatever. J.J. Cale understood the meaning of it all, and made it right and obvious. He educated us, who weren't as unfortunate, about this deep and great music --  no such thing as white-mans's blues; there's only blues.
Question for my fellow RP listeners, has bill played any christine lakeland?
