Stay with me
My love, I hope you'll always be
Right here by my side, if ever I need you
Oh my love

In your arms
I feel so safe and so secure
And every day is such a perfect day to spend
Alone with you

I will follow you, will you follow me
All the days and nights that we know will be
I will stay with you, will you stay with me
Just one single tear in each passing year

With the dark
Oh I see so very clearly now
All my fears are drifting by me so slowly now
Fading away

I can say
The night is long but you are here
Close at hand, oh I'm better for the smile you give
And while I live

I will follow you, will you follow me
All the days and nights that we know will be
I will stay with you, will you stay with me
Just one single tear in each passing year there will be

I will follow you, will you follow me
All the days and nights that we know will be
I will stay with you, will you stay with me
Just one single tear in each passing year
I will follow you, will you follow me
All the days and nights that we know will be
I will stay with you, will you stay with me
Just one single tear in each passing year
I will follow you, will you follow me
All the days and nights that we know will be
I will stay with you, will you stay with me
Just one single tear in each passing year

i've always loved this song since i was in junior high.

this is going to sound strange. it's making me cry right now because i'm going to have to put down my 17 yr old siamese cat. i can barely hold it together here at work thinking about this today. but, thank you for playing this.

🙏
simply excellent. Not their very best but ....

♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Excellent Tune! I haven't heard this in a long time. Not one of Genesis' best, but Excellent.  Thanx RP!
I have always enjoyed Phil Collins voice, so soothing.  So sad the health problems he is currently experiencing.  Peace
The cynths sound a bit too debilitating in the long run... necessary to gain the crowd's attention as they did well, I guess.

i just wanted to reply to a comment posted 18 years ago on RP.  long live RP.  And long live Genesis, i dig both the 70's prog and the 80's pop versions...but after that they lost me.  Both PG and PC were great lead men.
I like the keys in this heart warming song
Probably my favorite PC-era Genesis tune after I Know What I Like. Otherwise, I'm PG Genesis fan. This is such a warm. lovely song.
I happen to like both incarnations of Genesis and I like this song.

yes, a band that was actually tolerable

neverthless

this was the wedding dance for me and my wife 16 years ago (surrounded in the dark of a circle of friends holding candles). a truly moving moment captured forever in our hearts and suprisingly awakend by this inclusion in the playllist. we had to stop what we were doing and start dancing again in our room.

thanks bill and thanks to fate for its foresight to arrange the crossing of my and my wifes path 21 years ago!{#Heartkiss}

What a perfectly lovely song. Haven't heard it in ages, so it sounds... so pretty.

I've Always loved this song. Such a great, soothing feeling.
Of all the Genesis songs that I love, and each for so many different reasons, this is the one I am probably most sentimental about (maybe just above I Know What I Like). Such a warm feel, vulnerable and simple.

I agree on the cheese factor, but this was also my wedding dance 30 years ago! So I can't dis on it too much

I was just about to post the same thought! They really are two different bands. Their proggy PG stuff was amazing, and their poppy MOR stuff post-PG holds up better than a lot of dreck from the era.

I don’t think I like any single band as much as Bill appears to like Genesis and its progeny.
Both Genesis and PG were BETTER after Peter left!

OMG, could never digest the PG years - now this is a solid 5!

phil knows how to write a song.
Anthem for the facebook crowd?
Huge Genesis fan here, but Swallow you swallow me? Well its hard to swallow. Such a huge catalog of amazing music too :-(

BnR - THANK YOU for playing this track today (at all....) I knew the song and not the lyrics, so upon hearing it today whilst reading the lyrics I made the 6→9 jump on my rating.  And a reminder to myself that Phil Collins WAS badass even if my childhood memories in the 80s are of mostly pop/FM hits.

Next for me will be to listen to all of The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway and see if I can enjoy PG as much as I enjoy PC.  Good luck to me!!  And Long Live RP!!

The most radio friendly song on the record.  How about "Burning Rope" instead?
40 years ago. Wow.
An old favorite.
As noted earlier, there were some other cuts on this one trying to hold onto the old Genesis.  A good record.
..agree.  Great LP just poorly recorded  DaidyBoy wrote:

Agree that this isn't the best or the 'real' Genesis as they were teetering on the brink of pop but this album does have a few cuts that were struggling to maintain some roots.  Thank you RP for the look back!
It has been a long time, and every so often, this song is fine.

The fidelity on some older recordings is less than great.

Im brought back to days long ago; cruising in my 72 Cutlass convertible..I loved this LP-Cassette
A blast from the past! Not a fantastic blast, but a blast nonetheless. Thanks for playing, Bill. Brought me back to simpler times...

ZZZZZZZZZZZZ, then I woke up and thought I was listening to FM, ZZZZZZZZZZZZ
 talk about your MOR songwriting!
I\'m a big Genesis fan, but feel this is one of their lesser songs. There\'s a lot better stuff on this album.
Ugh. By no means is this among Genesis\'s best efforts. Or even conceivably close.
This song sounds *so* cheesy. But the version by Red House Painters is amazing. Mark Kozelek of RHP has an amazing knack of turning 70\'s pop tunes into heartbreaking love songs.
From: Klaus Hereth Date: Aug 23,2001 Aaaaaaarrrgggh!!! Don't play Phil f***ing Collins on your otherwise station! Phil Collins is for 40+ paunchy office fartknockers who have seen their best days! Don't do this to us!
I beg to differ. There is some pretty awesome PC era Genesis tunes and Phil's first 3 solo efforts are also pretty good. He started to get sappy after he did the song for the movie "White Nights" in 1985
