We move like caged tigers
Oh, we couldn't get closer than this
The way we walk, the way we talk
The way we stalk, the way we kiss
We slip through the streets
While everyone sleeps
Getting bigger and sleeker
And wider and brighter
We bite and scratch and scream all night
Let's go and throw all the songs we know
Into the sea, you and me
All these years and no one heard
I'll show you in spring, it's a treacherous thing
"We missed you", hissed the lovecats
So wonderfully, wonderfully
Wonderfully, wonderfully pretty
Oh, you know that I'd do
Anything for you
We should have each other to tea, huh?
We should have each other with cream
Then curl up in the fire and sleep for awhile
It's the grooviest thing, It's the perfect dream
Into the sea, you and me
All these years and no one heard
I'll show you in spring, it's a treacherous thing
"We missed you", hissed the lovecats
"We missed you", hissed the lovecats
"We missed you", hissed the lovecats
"We missed you", hissed the lovecats
We're so wonderfully, wonderfully
Wonderfully, wonderfully pretty
You know that I'd do
Anything for you
We should have each other for dinner
We should have each other with cream
Then curl up in the fire, get up for awhile
It's the grooviest thing, it's the perfect dream
Hand in hand is the only way to land
And always the right way round
Not broken in pieces like hated little meeces
How could we miss someone as dumb as this?
"We missed you", hissed the lovecats
I love you, let's go
Oh, solid gold
Lovecats
How could we miss someone as dumb as this?

Robert in uncharacteristically chirpy mood on this one. Didn't really fit with the band's sound at the time so was originally just a stand-alone single but achieved it's objective of breaking the band through to a wider audience.

Genuinely, thanks for your opinion.

S'trewth. It's a really fun song tho. Not really on brand for them, but I'm glad they made it anyway!

I respect the (mostly) adulation here for this song; it blew me away in 1986 and for years after. But I think it's hit my limit for hearing it again, for a long time. Never thought of the sound effects as grating but I do now. Not even sure what this song is about, which was great when I could make it up in my head and didn't care. Today, it just kind of irritates me.
One of the first songs I learnt on the bass!
I was taught by a nice guy whom I ended up marrying :) Love Cats from the start!

Song barely escapes Robert Smith pronouncing the first line as "cag-ED ty-GUHS"
I always loved this song. It was great fun on a dance floor amidst the "let's all dress in black and never smile" club scene of the 80's.
It's one of about a half dozen Cure songs that, if you had never seen a photo of the band, you could easily attribute to one of the Pastels & Big Blonde Hair bands like Haircut 100, Flock of Seagulls, or Duran Duran.

This was initially written as a parody, and Robert Smith later distanced himself from the song. In Rock & Folk magazine, Smith said: "'The Love Cats' is far from being my favorite song: composed drunk, video filmed drunk, promotion made drunk. It was a joke."

On Earth2, Morphine covered this. Gloriously.
Brilliant song - it will always be!
I can't decide whether I love or hate this song. Yin and yang. Therefore impossible to rate it.

Out of all the stuff in Cure's library, why is this one in rotation? It's in heavy rotation, too.
ok as a pop song however their earlier work was far far superior
An acid tab on my tongue, aged 20, circa 1988. Love it.

Moonshadow ( former psycho cat ) and Ellis ( miniature tiger ) are good friends,
occasionally exchanging gentle head bumps.
Of course, when food is involved, they're not inclined to share.

Oy. Again? This is played way to much for my taste.
I could go quite a while without hearing this again.

Sweet bass line in this tune.
Great follow-up to Dave Brubeck.
Oh yeah - laid back cruise.
One of my favorite Cure tracks ever....beautiful...reminds me of my ex wife...
Last play: Feb 20, 2015
Its a cool song, but some more diversity on RP would not hurt.

My fondest memory of my cat Rocket (RIP, lived 16 years) was when he got out of his carry-on bag on-board a 12 hour flight from NYC to Tel Aviv. I was half-awake and most of the people were asleep when said incident occurred. The flight attendant came by and said "excuse me, sir, but I believe your cat is loose and roaming around in first class". I was naturally mortified after examining the empty bag at my feet. Rocket was stalking beneath a dozing, sprawled-out, Ultra-Orthodox in the very front row. Moral of the story: Never give your cat a tranquilizer for a flight - they do just the opposite. Without that, Rocket was always as calm as a cucumber in flight, the most perfect travelling companion you could imagine (on this occasion the captain would not let Rocket board unless he actually witnessed me administer the pill).
I definitely like Lena's version more!
......
The Cure anytime! Can't complain.
Loads of Cure when listening to RP lately. Definitely not complaining just happily noting.
Ok, I seriously don't believe the "Plays in past month: 3" stat there...it's gotta be at least 20....

You know that one song. The one that takes you back to a place and in your mind you can see her face smiling back at you? This is it for me oddly enough. Hope your dreams have all come true Alix!
Normally I'd switch RP off when this song comes on, but I'm reading this article on Cracked, and the two seem to go together quite well.
Every time I hear The Cure, I think of that girl that liked them, the girl I didn't end up with. So, hearing The Cure makes me happy.

Don't love cats at all, I'd rather have a dog.
when playing a peppy cure song on a Friday afternoon I would go for the more obvious one but this one is nice too!

What's gotten into Bill today? All over the place, musically speaking. Diggin' it ~ Keep 'em guessing!!!
Beloved of a whole generation of English males for being a crucial (or inevitable) part of the playlist in those very formative first school discos... Not quite as delightfully uncomfortable and erotic as Tainted Love which was just that bit slower.
Wish I'd known then what I know now...
We go from Dave Brubeck to this?
Don't get me wrong, I love The Cure. It's just the progression is a bit off.
