Pink moon is on its way
And none of you stand so tall
Pink moon gonna get you all
It's a pink moon
It's a pink moon
Pink, pink, pink, pink
Pink moon
The pink, pink, pink, pink
Pink moon
I saw it written and I saw it say
Pink moon is on its way
And none of you stand so tall
Pink moon gonna get you all
It's a pink moon
It's a pink moon
My favorite song under two minutes.
I've been listening to this song for over two decades and NEVER noticed how short it is until right now. It's a universe unto itself, isn't it?
I never tire of hearing this and I have heard it a lot since I bought the album when if first came out. I admit that I now have trouble truly listening all the way through, as brief as it its, but that is my shortcoming, not the music's.
... apparently I never tire of commenting on it either
I'm taking a wild guess here, but could it be because he died more than 40 years or so at the time you noticed before 5 or so years ago?
Ahhhh........
Perhaps he is polytheistic and thus finds the current 10 ambiguous?
Debbie Downer? Is that you?
I bumped you one, and you're so right about Debbie. We need less downers in the world.
It's really a great song, yes - but just don't rate everything you like with a '10', then you won't need a non-existing '12'. A '10' already means "godlike" and should be handled with care.

Splash out and buy the CD
An artist sadly never recognised in his own lifetime

yes, there are some awesome ones, but I don't know if RP plays them....- like these here: River Man, Saturday Sun and Cello Song
In the last thirty days "Cello Song" has been played 4 times and "River Man" has been played twice, but "Saturday Sun" is not on the playlist. I guess it's mostly a matter of the timing of when you're tuning in.
Pink moon, gonna get ye all.
There are another 15 or so of Drake's tunes on the playlist that RP plays.

just the best
Pink-a-moon Go?
beautiful.
Thank you RP.
Although in my case it was the frog.
I am not suprised by this comment. I think Pink Moon was also my first Nick Drake song I heard and I thought almost the same.
Until Cello Song hit me hard in a way I cant explain and I noticed the beauty for the first time. Since then for me "Five leaves left" is the best album ever produced. Mentally still fairly healty he produced this first album and I think its the best he made.
The other albums are also good, but certain songs like Pink Moon are still not a 9 or 10 in my book.
Absolutely. Many thanks, Mr & Mrs G. A wonderful discovery, even for someone as old as me....
What about Nick Drake? ; )
RP is the best radio station in this galaxy...
Even though I live in a homeless camp now, everybody in my homeless camp be dancing, thanks to RP, which is the greatest radio station in the history of our solar system...
hope life is grand for you these days, QueenLucia, and I hope you be having a marvelous time right this minute...
Ahhh, but it really does matter how often. At least to me it does...squirrel!!
Hmm..I don't quite understand? While you may in fact be mentally unstable, I did find your sentence to be relatively coherent?

I believe jhorton was joking in his response. If you had stumbled across the terms "comic irony" or "sarcasm" while you were perusing Wikipedia, you may have gotten the gist of his response before posting.

Thankfully, no!
Actually I like Beck but would rather not associate him with this song.

Perhaps you've since noticed this added feature of every RP song page, but just in case: at the center of the page, just below the song info and purchasing links, there's a link that says "Lyrics:" .
Do feel free to try this link--and take Art Carnage with you on your Journey of Discovery!
Stephen Fry, softening the sting of his putdown with a come-on
Readers, please note: Stephen may be as insufferably patrician and gently condescending as the late William F. Buckley, Jr., but the two were not related.

Love.
Beck reminds me of this song. Ok, no. Not at all.

Illustration with a melancholic tone, created for a music magazine, about the life and death of the british musician, poet and guitarist, Nick Drake.
The pink moon is a homage to one of his letters, of course!

check out this quote from my hero Willy Shakes—
Romeo and Juliet
Act 2, Scene 2:
JULIET:
'Tis but thy name that is my enemy;
Thou art thyself, though not a Montague.
What's Montague? it is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man. O, be some other name!
What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;
So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call'd,
Retain that dear perfection which he owes
Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name,
And for that name which is no part of thee
Take all myself.
Prague, that never saw pen and ink, very wittily
said to a niece of King Gorboduc, 'That that is is;
'so I, being Master Parson, am Master Parson; for,
what is 'that' but 'that,' and 'is' but 'is'?

Full Moon in Scorpio - Native Pink Moon - the arrival of Spring!
The Full Moon is today - for this Thursday, April 25, 2013...
The Full Moon comes with a Lunar Eclipse (the first of three) making this indeed a potent time. It is a time to connect more deeply with who you are and what you need and desire at this time for your life.
You will be tested. Is this what you really want? If so the time for manifesting is now. The opportunities for expansion and growth are truly amazing and you should spend some good time praying for what you want.
Appreciation for what you have is important as well as gratitude for your life. This is a time to honor anything that has happened in a big way in your life even if it is challenging. Look at it instead as spirit presenting you with a big energy.
Never having lived on Madison avenue, or actually even been to it, I'd appreciate a little background to this statement. I love the tune, but don't understand your comment.
"Madison Avenue" is just a phrase used to represent the American advertising industry, since ad firms have historically been there for over 100 years. Oddly, I believe the ad firm (Arnold Worldwide) responsible for the VW ad is actually based in Boston, not NYC, and that firm is owned by a French advertising firm..
gorgeous song... love it...
The first track I played as a DJ was a Nick Drake tune— The Time of No Reply.
His voice just does me and has for 25 years.
First time I'm hearing Nick Drake on RP... can't say I'm surprised, just happy.
Happy happy happy happy.
Thank you.
To echo so many other posters: Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou, Romeo? Who's going to be RP's resident gigolo now?

Ouch.... a little harsh?

I think Romeo was kicked out of his hotel room for too much dancing.
are you speaking from personal experience ?
To echo so many other posters: Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou, Romeo? Who's going to be RP's resident gigolo now?
Ha, banishment! be merciful, say 'death;' For exile hath more terror in his look, Much more than death: do not say 'banishment.'
soooo beautiful... love this song...

It depends who's having it though. Unfortunately, in the UK, there are too many abusing the system with their benefits based pyramid scheme.

Pink Moon was in an ad for the VW Bug in the United states. I really liked the ad and wanted to know who the singer was going "Ping, ping, ping..." Was very happy to find out while listening to RP.
Unfortunately, Madison Avenue and the TV networks here love—love—to beat commercials to death, so I can understand why people got sick of the song. Fortunately, American ingenuity led to the TV remote (with a mute button, sirdroseph).
The New York Times had this bit in the inventor's recent obituary:
As Mr. Polley, by then 86, proudly told an interviewer in 2002: “The flush toilet may have been the most civilized invention ever devised, but the remote control is the next most important. It’s almost as important as sex.”
Almost.

I wish I could figure out what's going on in the chorus.. 2 against 3? 3 against 4?
Drives me crazy — LOVE IT!
The song is in 4/4, but the way he plays the guitar and sings makes it sound kind of like 3/4 with a skipped beat, so it's kind of a 3+3+2 sort of thing going on ... if that makes sense. Brilliant!

This was the perfect song to close out my day with as I wandered through my quiet house. Just the soft sounds of "Pink Moon" wafting through from room to room.
Perfectly expressed I second every sentiment expressed
