Running from your window
I was all night running
I wonder if you care?
I had a run-in
Run around and run down
Run around a corner
Run smack into a tree
I had to move
Really had to move
That's why, if you please
I am on my bended knees
Bertha, don't you come around here anymore
Dressed myself in green
I went down to the sea
Try to see what's going down
Maybe read between the lines
Had a feeling I was falling
Turned around to see
Heard a voice calling
You was comin' after me
I had to move
Really had to move
That's why, if you please
I am on my bended knees
Bertha, don't you come around here anymore
Ran into a rainstorm
Ducked into a bar door
It was all night pouring
But not a drop on me
Test me, test me
Why don't you arrest me?
Throw me in the jail house
Until the sun goes down
'til it go down
I had to move
Really had to move
That's why, if you please
I am on my bended knees
Bertha, don't you come around here anymore
Too bad they dont tour much these days
Lets just agree that if you can make the accordion sound this cool you are a legitimately awesome band.
Agreed! This pumpin', jumpin' rhythmic 'cordian style is a frequent feature of Canadian Acadian music and that of their Louisiana Cajun cousins. Cousine, vient danser avec moi!!
Saying it again: these guys do the Dead better than the Dead.
These guys ARE BETTER than the Dead! They are all very talented musicians! The Dead would get too stoned & would not all be playing the same song at the same time!

thats cause both bands know how yo play rnr
about 22 years ago i saw Los Lobos
and i got a hell of a thrill when they opened with this
best damn band in the land
that had to have been amazing!
While flying years ago, my wife and I were separated on the flight. Just before departure, a bunch of guys with the I'm-in-a-band look boarded. One sat next to my wife. One of the Los Lobians. She admitted she only knew the band from Sesame Street and 'Elmo and the Lavender Moon'. He loved it. She's become a fan since then.
Cool story. Thank You for sharing it.

I Agree! Thanx RP!
So a philosophical question has to be proctored:
can there ever be enough GD music played on RP?
I am now talking with myself.
To answer that non-rhetorical question: No. There can never be too much GD music. Same goes for Dylan, Mitchell, Steely Dan, and Van the man.
Bertha gets it
I'm trying to get it

Excellent!
fine album. Hey Bill, how about playing Jane's Addiction cover of "Ripple" from this one?
That was my intro to JA. Then I discovered the rest of the album. Gold.
the Dead version
or Althea?
Souinds like the Allmans to me...
More Los Lobos please!
Souinds like the Allmans to me...
This does have an Allman brothers vibe to it, like a SW version of the SE sound of the bros...good ear on ya! And I went +1 on this tune...call it an 8...LLRP!!
Cover art is neat too, when you look closely.

I have this from a while back. I remembered there being a track I didn't like. But I just looked at the complete disk and cant figure out which one it would have been.
The Lyle Lovett 'freind of the devil' is particularly wonderful. But yeah, the whole thing is good.
Please play, Bill (Live version, of course - The Dead must be served live) https://youtu.be/psgToDJoQl8
Yes.

It's a real diverse mix of artists. Kitty Wells just kills "Forever Young".

I would have to say the exact opposite.... great song when performed by the original masters... this version is not up to par

I wish I had Bertha in my office.

I finally figured it out and low and behold a friend had the CD so I borrowed it. Played it for a couple weeks red the insert front to back.

Thanks for the chuckle. I've been thinking that about Los Lobos for about thirty-five years.

Seems like you've been pleading for this cut to be added, but there's only one Jane's Addiction song here on RP's playlist. It's an alternate version of "Been Caught Stealing", and it hasn't been played in over a dozen years.

+1!!!!
Again tonight in honor of the four remaining core members announcing a 50th anniversary concert at Soldier Field, the site of the last true Grateful Dead concert. Three days on the Independence day holiday.
And with Trey Anastasio on guitar!
Should be a great concert, but I'm not really into stadium shows any more.
Went to the Chicago shows with my wife. Tie-dyes took over the city for a few days and, corny as it might seem, everything was magical. We saw old friends and plenty others who shared so many experiences, they might as well have been old friends. The music was good. the scene was electric. Great party.
THANK YOU
Try that & I'd turn off the spigot immediately.

I love Los Lobos, but this is really weak sauce.
having witnessed the Wild One LIVE.... I can attest to it being true, however I doubt he is going to even try to podcast live 24/7 at this point in life.... unlike 30 years ago...........oops, 40 yrs.at least, time do fly.......

The Man's gotta sleep sometime.
oh come on, 24 hours a day 7 days a week and Rebecca? who can sleep....
It's a Great album, but why are all the links from album
coming up bruce springsteen tenth avenue freeze out from born to run?
...or is it just me??...hmmmm edit, sorry
Bad weed.
My first Dead Concert from 1971, and a Los Lobos show in 1991 are both in my top five concerts in the last 45 years: American music, no pretension, total dedication, few boundaries, focused on the music not the ego.
Plus: David Hildago's guitar. God damn, it's good to be alive on this day.
Damn, Old Friend Jerry, we miss you for sure.
Ya Bill go for it... Maybe Jackie Greene's Sugaree
try Loretta Lynn's "you aint woman enough"!

Stef, Bill can't sneak anything past you, can he?
The album is all covers of Grateful Dead songs by various artists. Why did Bill play 'em back-to-back? Who can possibly know what evil lurks in his fevered, twisted mind...
Just needling you. It's a great album.
LOL ~ sure are quick aren't ya
RP can play Dead and Dead covers non-stop as far as I'm concerned!
Would love to hear some Scarlet Begonias. C'mon! Its summer!
Los Lobos drives it alittle more.
Both good versions and a helluva song.
