You're dead but the world keeps spinning
Take a spin through the world you left
It's getting dark a little too early
Are you missing the dearly bereft?

Taking flight and you could be
Here tomorrow
Taking flight, well, you could get
Here tonight

I'm gonna fly on down for the
Last stop to this town
What?
I'm gonna fly on down then fly away
Well, alright

Get down

Taking a spin through the neighborhood
The neighbors scream
Whatchya talkin' bout?
'cause they don't know how to
Let you in
And i can't let you out

What if i was not your only friend
In this world
Can you take me where you're going
If you're never coming back

I'm gonna fly on down for the
Last stop to this town
I'm gonna fly on down
Then fly away on my way

Get down

Why don't we take a ride
Away up high
Through the neighborhood
Up over the billboards and the factories
And smoke

I'm gonna fly on down for the
Last stop to this town
Yeah
I'm gonna fly on down
Then fly away on my way
Fly away

Get down

Last ten songs were trying to break 7.1 LOL!
Electro-Shock Blues is an amazing album. Quite the emotional ride. It's on my desert island list for sure.

Love the "weirdly beautiful",  kudos to you, fits perfectly 👍🏼
This, followed by Tito & Tarantula's "After dark ", wow.
For about a year now, I leave RP playing for longer and longer stretches. Most of the time, I don't know the bands, which is *great* 😎
RP is unique, I'm discovering new music all the time and that's fantastic, even when it's *not* to my taste!
hard to believe this has been around so long...but I have been around a long while and that is hard to believe too...
Cool song, I dig the album art!
Was a bit put off by when the beat kicks in at first (not a fan of that particular one) but I like it anyway.

Yes you can!
I wonder if they do the "Get Down" part live, when they are in concert, or is it just a prepared sample?  Either way it works for me.
Another one of those songs that got me through Afghanistan
Fantastic....!

You know the album came out in 1998, right?

Too self consciously "different."

I don't see that criticism too often here; it's good to see something different.  Usually it's "this is derivative of _____" or "this sounds like The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Mumford & Sons", etc..."  Of course there's always the "repetitive" commentary.

GREAT band - and real funny!
Hey Bill, missing song name.. it should be "last stop this town"... :)
OK I like this one.  Eels?  Hrmm.  First one from them that captured me.

Not to worry, it bears repeating.

Now, nobody throw anything, but while I do like this a lot, I can completely see a smart insurance company, say, picking it up for a pretty montage ad about hip families....
Another one for the must acquire some albums list  Also looking at the earlier comments totally agree on the TMBG sound to this track.

Well worth the investment.  The way looks unapologetic at life and difficult times, yet still maintains, the things will be OK outlook is very therapeutic.

I'm liking them more and more, maybe a purchase in the near future...

See them live and you'll be a true convert.

Love the Zappa-esque deep-voiced rap
These guys are cool.

Didn't see that but I remeber reading an article about it awhile back.

Its the Eeels, I just can't swallow that...eewwww
this is pretty cool... kinda like a mix of They Might Be Giants and The Lightning Seeds... :) yay!
Great song with a great video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8hyCWH1Ww0
the song is actually called, "Last Stop: This Town" and it has one of the best videos ever

I think I'm in the minority here because I can't stand this song. It's really annoying.

Creative and catchy. good stuff
Wow, a track I haven't heard here before but seems to be fairly Old Hat here at RP. Exceedingly good song.
So happy for a song about suicidal thoughts.
Its nice to hear more Eels. All I hear of typical radio is "novocaine for the soul." They seem to be imaginative with their sound. Nice!

Me too! Good taste!
Mr"E" is da man.
Has anybody seen the video to the song...crazy stuff
Mr. E definitely marches to the beat of his own drummer!
Anyone else picture one of the giant monster muppets singing the line "I'm gonna fly on down for the last stop to this town."

YAY EELS! Happy happy happy!
uh-oh... I feel the onset of an Eels binge coming... :)
yes, yes, yes, it's Zappaesque
Awesome track! This song has the coolest video. Gotta find that somewhere.
awesome track from what I feel is their best album, although Blinking Lights is also at that top spot for me right now. EEls... good feelings.

Normally, I don't listen to "heavy" stuff either, but I must say this album is very heartfelt and poignant. I wouldn't recommend listening to it too often, though. (I put it on maybe once or twice a year.) Yes, it starts off very bleakly with his sister's suicide and her funeral, but the tone becomes brighter (relatively speaking) as E tries to come to terms with it throughout the course of the album. At the end it becomes deeply moving. Sad, yes, but not depressing. More like: "I have to move on". Anyway, that's just my interpretation.
Love this track - and the rest of the album. Much better than their recent work.

oh yeah! the eels that we all love.
If you think this is good, wait until you hear the new CD, Blinking Lights. Brilliant.
I'm liking this RP is definitely introducing me to stuff that I was previously unaware off.
These guys are the sleeper band of this decade. Original, driving sound--at the same time keeping it stupid, simple. Awesome in concert--saw them at First Ave in Mpls. Keep your eyes on this band.

A weird one. As heard in Repo Man, "you know the way that everybody's into weirdness right now?" Well, I am, anyway. But doesn't it sound like Frank Zappa and Trey Anastasio singing backup?
I went scrolling through to see if anyone had said that -- Zappa was my first thought, too. But it sure isn't up to Zappa standards.
It reminds me of a less kitschy Sugar Ray with better lyrics and a better vocalist.

Yeah, that was Beautiful Freak. The one that broke 'em. Absolutely incredible disc.
is it just my twisted mind, or there is indeed something definitely beatles-esque in many eels songs?
It's truly amazing how each of Eels' song is so similar to the others (partially because of the leading vocals) and yet completely different. I like most of them and this one is just another great one.
I shouldn't, but I do.
I bought into the Eels at "Daisies of the Galaxy", and have been buying his releases ever since. Thanks for reminding me to go BACK into the already released stuff.

I like the Eels a'plenty but I have to disagree because of Radiohead. (Radiohead began longer than 10 years ago but their real blossoming has happened within the last 10 years.)

Weak. Sounds like lesser TMBG.

For the Eels, not that good. :D
Ewww. I want this to stop. As soon as possible.
Love it... though it does sound a lot like TMBG to me... --d
What a great piece! Thanks, BillG. :) And how cool to come here to rate it, and find that I had already done so, and my rating matched! I will buy this CD.
what a neat, quirky pop song. i\'ve always liked \"E\'s\" music.
