And the slow parade of fears without crying
Now I want to understand
I have done all that I could
To see the evil and the good without hiding
You must help me if you can
Doctor, my eyes
Tell me what is wrong
Was I unwise to leave them open for so long
'Cause I have wandered through this world
And as each moment has unfurled
I've been waiting to awaken from these dreams
People go just where they will
I never noticed them until I got this feeling
That it's later than it seems
Doctor, my eyes
Tell me what you see
I hear their cries
Just say if it's too late for me
Doctor, my eyes
I Cannot see the sky
Is this the prize for having learned how not to cry......
I love playing bass and singing with my guys on this one!! Channel some Leland the best I can.
And we're doing the new version with the cool ending!
Doctor My Eyes | Jackson Browne | Song Around The World | Playing For Change
I just love these global collabs so much, that Veena playing was great, and so cool hearing "The Section" playing with JB too; thanks for sharing!!

Doctor My Eyes | Jackson Browne | Song Around The World | Playing For Change
His works are simply too vaginal for me. FWIW, I'd strongly prefer it if those 75 little underplayed songs were kept in the closet, where they belong.
Does the female form make you uncomfortable, Mr. Floydoftherocks? Browne's art has been commended as strongly vaginal, which bothers some men. The word itself makes some men uncomfortable. Vagina. They don't like hearing it, they find it difficult to say whereas without batting an eye, a man will refer to his dick or his rod or his...johnson.
What Leland Sklar's bass playing does for this song can't be overstated. It propels it, drives it, makes it great. Easy to overlook, but really really important. Leland Sklar
Not to mention the great guitar playing of Jesse Ed Davis.
JfloydofBtherocks Is a little walker,

Maybe he MEANT to say marGINAL?
Your FWIW is worth precisely nothing. Personally I'm struggling to think of any male artist who has illuminated better what it is to be a real man than Jackson Browne.
Vaginal.. What the ****!!
Thank You for the info.

+1 to 9 on the strength of Mr. Sklar's bass playing, especially as I'm breaking in a new stereo and remember how good this one sounds.
Long Live RP and new hi-fi gear!!

Just saw a documentary on Native artists and that's where I learned of him. That guitar solo was recorded in one take off the top of his head. Amazing!
10.
Too vaginal, really?
I guess you feel the same way about women?
My own works have been commended as being strongly vaginal. But JB's works are simply in a different ginaverse..

I love you, RP, but note to the BrainTrust:
Jackson Browne has 75 more mature, sophisticated, under-played songs (than this overplayed FM "hit") that I wish RP would rotate.

miss you so very very much, Cynaera...
love this song...
Haven't heard this song in ages. Great memories.
Hope you are having a marvelous day Lazarus

You missed the point, that fellow loved this song as well.
Everything from your post onward has been very offensive to me. I love Jackson Browne. Comparing him to Captain and Tenille is so stupid that I can't even form words... I better go away, because I'm about to get angry about the absolutely idiotic comments that followed yours.
I can only assume that you're all children who've never had to think a single independent thought in your lives, and have never examined your musical history. I can't defend his music to an ignorant generation. Your loss. Please feel free to not vote - you scare me.

Absolutely not true; I've never liked VM, but I own every JB album he ever did.

The Jackson 5 version of this song was my first exposure to it as a kid in the 70's. Liked it then, like it now.
Pure, perfect classic.
My all-time worst song: "Loving You" by Minnie Riperton. Pretty sure it can beat all comers.
Always liked "Doctor My Eyes"—reminds me of autumn high school days.
I'm right there with you on the April Wine! Man, they've got some seriously bad songs.
As for Adele, I thought her performance at the Grammys was one of the highlights.
And for the record, this song is great.
It was just a dream. I really do love Jackson Browne's music, though you have to admit, he uses the same melody lines and chord progressions in most of his songs.
"Doctor My Eyes" is one of my favorite songs ever, so I'm giving it a high rating.
"Muskrat Love" has gotta be in the all-time Top Ten Worst Songs in History (and is "The Captain" not the poster-boy for emasculation?).
My vote for #1 goes to "We Built This City" by Jefferson Starship.

Even worse and thankfully even more forgotten: "Muskrat Love." Jesus, talk about vomit-inducing.
Sorry Jackson, nice song and all that, but MJ and the boys do it better.
O_o Eh? Are you saying your parents censured your listening pleasure? Ouch.
No. But I will say that my parents would have much preferred me listening to this instead of all the Zappa I immersed myself in.

Haha! Yes, please.
Wow! I never knew The Jackson 5 took a swing at this one. I had to go back & look it up for confirmation. Per Wiki, their cover of Doctor My Eyes was a Top 10 hit in Europe, and it's on this album, back when Mike still looked like a real person...
Holy CRAP! That version actually has some music to it! I always thought that it was just the song that was soulless.

It remains a great song, and I was only partially right about the comments. Fortunately only a couple of the I've Heard This Song Before So It Must Be Bad Police have made their way to this song's comments (so far).
One of the best debut albums ever.
I absolutely agree. Jackson Browne has been a part of my life since I was about fourteen. I love his music (except, he almost lost me with his "Lawyers In Love" CD.)
Love the tune - this was a good era of music coming out of the 60's before disco really took off.
Back then, it was quite common to see them dangling from a hood ornament or hook on the front of a jeep or truck driving around in the desert. They cool off pretty good at 60 to 70 mph !
There were also barrels of water strategically placed at pullovers on old US 66 going through the desert in California for those boiling over radiators.
Top 10 break up song.

roflmao!
Come to think of it, this would make a good companion to 10,000 Maniacs's "Carnival."
He got some serious Botox. Saw an interview with him a few weeks ago and his face didn't move the whole time. Love the tune. 9

Dang. And The Fifth Eagle. LOL
R P !
Jackson's most overplayed AM / FM song !
Delve deeply into his profound catalog. Not this track !!
Agreed. I think another decade will have to pass before I can listen to it with something akin to fresh ears.
I give up. What is it?

True, but this is one of those rare tracks that is immune to oversaturation.....still good!!

Sounds even better now with all this new equipment.
