Crazy, but that's how it goes
Millions of people living as foes
Maybe. it's not too late
To learn how to love, and forget how to hate
Mental wounds not healing
Life's a bitter shame
I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train
I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train
I've listened to preachers,
I've listened to fools
I've watched all the dropouts
Who make their own rules
One person conditioned to rule and control
The media sells it and you live the role
Mental wounds still screaming
Driving me insane
I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train
I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train
I know that things are going wrong for me
You gotta listen to my words, yeah, yeah
Heirs of a cold war,
that's what we've become
Inheriting troubles,
I'm mentally numb
Crazy, I just cannot bear
I'm living with something that just isn't fair
Mental wounds not healing
Who and what's to blame
I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train
I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train

I'm not an Ozzy fan, but agree with everything else. So played to death. As a teen in the 80s you couldn't avoid this song. It is like a rash that won't go away.
The last year of the 80s was 30 years ago.
...and I don't care if this song got overplayed in the 80s. Good music will always be good music. Thanks.
For me these were two totally new songs and I enjoyed them both, especially in this order.

I was just about to post exactly the same amazement, glad you did.
I'm sure heads won't explode. If they do...well that's good!

He he! I too have vivid memories of getting my ass kicked to this song. Seems like a lot of hard core Ozzy fans were major asswipes back on the day. But Rhoads was such a gift and his light was extinguished far too soon. For whatever reason his loss has always had a profound effect on me.
I suppose you must be right about this being overplayed, but where do you hang out that gives you this perspective? Have I heard this anywhere else in the past decade? No, since I am not listening to whatever sort of medium you do. Considering the tremendous number and variety of songs I have been exposed to here that are either new to me or have been submerged somewhere for a long time, griping about one song being overplayed seems to be about your listening experience only. We all listen alone, in some sense.
My thoughts exactly

For the haters,,,its kinda like saying I only watch PBS,,,,when I watch TV.
But they do catch Honey Boo Boo secretly every now and then.
You know the haters are tapping their feet during this,,, just a bit....
I'm right there with you!

Me Three. JFC this was tiresome when it came out, great guitar work or not (and frankly it's always sounded like a lot of screeching and wailing to me).
Ozzy's always teetered on the edge of self-parody with his Satanic Madman schtick. This Top-40 hairball for the high school kids is a lowpoint. I'd rather watch Ozzy mutter about the dookies on the carpet than listen to this again.
Randy Rhodes Rules.....
Trolling?
I've always loved this song. RIP Randy Rhoads
HAhahaha love it. the following says it all :)
"Our specialty is taking a diverse assortment of songs and making them flow together in a way that makes sense harmonically, rhythmically, and lyrically — an art that, to us, is the very essence of radio."
Thanks Bill and Rebecca
One man's paradise is another man's hell!
I hope your laptop didn't spontaneously combust during that opening riff.
Yes, really! Granted, I was 2 when this came out, but I loved this song once I got caught up on the Ozzy catalog. This isn't something I want to hear all the time, but every now and then it's great. Yeah, it got played to death on the local classic rock station back home, but I'm not there anymore and don't listen to terrestrial radio if I can help it.
I thought I was listening to "Radio Paradise"?
Yep, its good to get off the elevator.
Its been a bit of a lively set for awhile now. Hope it lasts.
...pretty much nails the train theme down.
Here's another idea for a train theme sequence: from Joe Ely, you could have played "Tuesday's Gone:" "Train roll on, on down the line,
Won't you please take me far away?" Can you imagine the stink some listeners would've raised when they heard Skynyrd on Radio Paradise?
This a great album from Randy Rhodes! It was nice of Ozzy to chip in with some vocals too.
Got it in one!
Rhodes kills on this album.
Ozzy is delightfully deranged as always
Sorry to hear it. Perhaps you should try a laxative.
same for me

RP does teeny bopper/head-banger material.
Hilarious. Too funny.
Especially following Joe Ely. 10!

Well, that got me through the washing up with vigo(u)r.

Ozzy Osborne - Crazy Train Joe Ely - Boxcars Eilen Jewell - Dusty Boxcar Wall I see what you did there... |
And some say that Bill doesn't know how to rock. . .
Just had to bump this.
Thanks :)
I agree, I like Sabbath but not a big fan of Ozzy. Randy Rhoads was one of the best and if we must hear this lets hear some great rock guitar.
My thought exactly. This track tests my tolerance beyond the limit.
