Which will you go for?
Which will you love?
Which will you choose from
From the stars above?
Which will you answer?
Which will you call?
Which will you take for
For your one and all?
And tell me now
Which will you love the best?
Which do you dance for?
Which makes you shine?
Which will you choose now
If you won't choose mine?
Which will you hope for?
Which can it be?
Which will you take now
If you won't take me?
And tell now
Which will you love the best?

Such a loss and so, so sad.
Always reminds me of David Bromberg's "New Lee Highway Blues" or vice-versa
Right after that’s amoré…?nice change-up, kids!
I'll never not feel sad ....cheated if admitting my selfishness, that he died so young. special and rare.

50 years on February 26th since the release of Pink Moon. Just stripped back genius and such a gentle beautiful soul. RIP ND. Thank you for the music.
Fantastic. Lucinda Williams does a great cover of this song. Completely different.
... Said GOD. (because we are written in His heart) ... can't help but think about it... as it's clear to me.

Have listened to Nick Drake since he first appeared on the sampler Nice Enough to Eat. Still amazing after all these years.

Tom Mallon RIP. Always think of you when I hear Nick.

Had to google the sampler. A nice collection of tunes, but I'm not sure Bill would approve of the segue from Time Has Told Me to 20th Century Schizoid Man. But maybe it works. Hmmm.

Sublime
Hmmm - I was surprised because I didn't like this. Something about the opening vocals was unpleasant
Nice guitar work on this ~

Nice.
This was our wedding song 19 years ago. A dear friend sang it following more along the lines of Lucinda Williams cover version, which may be even more emotional. The song gets me every time, regardless of version. I'm sure glad my beautiful wife agreed to choose mine!
Nick great artist RIP
Nick, certainly one of a kind.
Simply wonderful.
So sad that I discovered Nick Drake so late in my life. Love this song.

Like the guitar, but the voice grates on me. Maybe someday I'll appreciate him, but now is not the time.

Amazing stuff, just love his oddball guitar tunings...
What were we listening too instead of this way back then? and how did we miss this guy?

Lucinda Williams did a decent cover of this. I think it was recorded live at a radio station.
And also one of the coolest album covers EVER....

Amen.
Timeless perfection, touches the core of my being. Never fails to satisfy.
Ah, my daily dose of Nick Drake, easing the morning coffee jitters.
I'm always amazed at how fresh and current he sounds. This has to be pretty old. He never sounds dated or quaint.
Ah, the incomparable Mr. Drake.
Ah Young Nick, why did you have to leave us so soon?

Ahhhh . . . Nick Drake's voice and guitar soothes my wearisome mind. A deeply troubled man who was totally at peace with his music.
And now his music gives me peace.
Nick Drake was a great musician/songwriter.
I'm so hit and miss with Nick Drake. This is one of those songs that I can't really get into. I definitely appreciate the talent, though.
ZZZZZzzzzzz....
As I read a lot of discussions about whether Nick was a good guitar player or not: just try to figure his style and technique out, if you perform some playing yourself. And then you might judge.
Nick Drake, since I re-discovered him several years ago, is one of the greatest for me and will ever be, I'm sure. No other whom I feel so directly linked to, through music as well as through lyrics, though I couldn't explain properly why. Mysterious, yes, no doubt. But I enjoy it.
Besides: one of my main reasons for listening to Radio Paradise.

How did he die? Did he kill himself?
From what I undserstand there is debate over his cause of death. He overdosed on prescribed medication he was taking. The family argues it was accidental or a doctor's error. Some say it was an intentional OD. Either way, a huge loss.
According to allmusic.com:
"Drake's final couple of years were marked by increasing psychiatric difficulties, which found him hospitalized at one point for several weeks. He had rarely played live during his days as a recording artist, and at one point declared his intention never to record again, although he wished to continue to write songs for others. (It's been reported that French chanteuse Françoise Hardy recorded some of Drake's songs, but she hasn't released any.) On November 26, 1974, he died in his parents' home from an overdose of antidepressant medication; suicide has been speculated, although some of his family and friends dispute this."
The rest of you: play nice or go to your rooms!

I find it interesting that you cannot even spell "guatar" correctly. Besides the fact that most real musicians and musical critics have stated that Nick Drake's guitar style was amazingly beautiful and innovative so that your opinion has no credible standing, you seem to show a true vulgarian lack of literacy. Well done, well stated. Once again it seems that a Texan, rather than keep his mouth shut to let us assume him a fool, has opened his mouth to make that fact hopelessly apparent. Bravo!!
A typo? The best you can do is call out a typo? That's so 1980s BBS. And ignorant remarks about Texas? Why don't you think a bit about how many long silences there would be on RP if all the Texas artists were eliminated. Of course, I see you make of point of hiding where you're from. I can only imagine there's a good reason for that.
Of course, none of that alters the fact that this song still stinks.
ad4tise wrote:

That's the least of this song's problems.
It is impossible to imagine I never listened to Nick Drake before I heard him on RP. It's hard to imagine music this beautiful staying so new and resonant without ever straying into sacherine and cloy.

Fantastic song, per usual from Nick Drake.
Is the guitar out of tune? Or is it just me.
Seems like you play Nick Drake about every 12 hours or so....
Seems like I never get tired of it.
Wow.... It makes me so happy to first tune into radioparadise and the first song is a Nick Drake one. Thanks Bill.
Good song; sad life story.
Only the good die young. Nick Drake is one of the reasons I wish I had been born twenty years earlier.
If you can't hear the good in this...you need to go outside and take a good look around :?

Wow, and you love Dylan (judging by all of your 10 ratings). One man's mumble is another man's... what? I dunno... Well, this man's sense of haunting beauty and guitar brilliance seems to be another man's lightening rod for externalizing deep-seated discontent.

One of my favorites. Absolutely beautiful and haunting.
This is the only station that plays my favorite folk singer. Thanks, Bill! Love this tune, and really everything on this album.
Go buy Pink Moon. You'll be glad you did. Great guitar work, ultimate chill out music.
