on darkened streets tonight
i see a simple time
i see the warning light
and the summer comes undone
no sorry closing eyes
no cutting down to size
no other thoughts arise
and the summer come undone

on darkened streets tonight
i make a wrong turn right
take in the lonely sight
and the summer comes undone

and i won't wait
and i won't have to
i just waste me time alone
'til the summer comes undone
'til the summer comes undone
'til the summer comes undone

Summer is on the way,had 80+today.I am outside and waiting for some approaching thunder storms.Great time to hear this song.{#Sunny}
Yeah, what a cool, twangy, winding down the day kinda tune; there's something sly and soothing in the way they run down those chords...
Sigh...I wish it were summer...but we got a class 9 blizzard going on here Bill

Yeah, that descending riff is really grating.  Otherwise, kinda like it.
I love their rooftop performances that you can find on youtube. The jam "And the Glitter is Gone", pretty amazing.

Would it be too ironic to "like" this comment?  {#Cheesygrin}

Aah, 13 years ago there was no cooler band in New York to like and yet, I never liked 'em.

Still don't.

Still not cool.

I love Luna and Yo La Tengo - gotta giove this album a listen-see.

Cool!  This is great how we can disagree and then agree we like RP!

Would love to hear "Dock of the Bay" after this one...

For once, Jag, I may be forced to agree with you.

But just this once, mmmkay?

Wow...haven't heard these guys in 20 years.  I wonder if RHCP knows their tune "Otherside" from Californication is heavily influenced by this YLT tune?

God I love this! and as I saw summer fading in Maui, and watch it fade here in Kanto, and lament the loss of my mother during this, except for Maui and hiking, climbing, biking, camping and fishing with my son in Colorado, one of the most un-fun summers of my life, I think HOW GREAT IS THIS THING CALLED RP!

It is pretty good, isn't it?

Thank you for playing this - I absolutely love it! This whole cd is brilliant.

Like Sonic Youth, they seem to do so incredibly much with discord. There is something in there that grows on me, a lot like with SY, too. One thing is for sure: They really are different! and that's cool...
The album that turned me on to Yo La Tengo. Brings back some good memories. Thanks for playing.
I think it's a bit catchy. Kinda like when she uses her teeth but it can be over done.

It's not really "untuned". They're just using a constant droning note, similar to Scottish bag pipes.
I like the quirky "untuned" guitar sound.

Adds character. If the playing was "clean" in this song it wouldn't be as effective, imo.

I think it's intentional dissonance...the strain of summer coming "undone."

As an RP LRC aficionado, I recognize this as a recently added song to the main playlist--well deserved.
Enjoy the juxtaposition of the deadpan vocals with the concept of summer. Always liked this band.
WOW!! EL VERANO!! Can't believe such an outstanding song haven't got any rating yet. Love the album. And love the band.
