Yeah might makes right
Yeah might makes right
They say that god is on our side and made us mighty
Yeah might makes right
Yeah might makes right
They say that god is on our side; I don't believe them

I'm crawling through the underbrush, we're teched up to the hilt
Compared to us these poor guys should be wearing shorts and kilts
I've got a living breathing shadow crossed up in my scope
My partner gives the signal, pull the trigger, then there's smoke

Might makes right
Yeah might makes right
They say that god is on our side and makes us mighty
Yeah might makes right
Yeah might makes right
They say that god is on our side; I don't believe them

Might makes right
Yeah might makes right
I guess that god is on our side and makes us mighty
Yeah might makes right
Yeah might makes right
They say that god is on our side; I don't believe them

They want us from the villages, they want us from the towns
Who could really blame them, shit blows up when we're around
We fly above their houses with our Huey double-props
We scare the crap out of their kids, their mothers and their flocks

Might makes right
Yeah might makes right
I guess 'cause god is on our side it makes us mighty
Yeah might makes right
Yeah might makes right
They say that god is on our side; I don't believe them

Despicable, ain't it? Power Trip for Oval office, whilst piss on the folks at home. Just get the troops outta there, home safely, and let the other warring  factors Duke it out amongst themselves!! Like we don't have enuff of a mess here at home that is being inappropriately addressed. That's our politicians & tax dollars, hard at work!! Such a smoke & mirrors show!

I pretty much hate all of CVB's rhythmless dribble.
Peace out bro!!

Dave Lowery formed and lead sings for both Cracker and Camper Von Beethoven if it makes you feel better.
Snarky bumper sticker political analysis. Stuff gets tiresome.

As an American, I feel it IS VERY appropriate for non-Americans to comment on the "politics" of this song.  The world is much more global than even 30 years ago, we're all in this together, and I know a lot of us feel the same way.

Long Live RP and PEACE!!!

Didn't know who this was till I looked. Reminds me of Cracker. Fun song.
As foreigner if feel inappropriate to comment on the American politics of this song, but as a piece of music its bilindingly good and I feel myself singing “Ceech, Ceech, Ceech” ever chorus.
I wonder if the Nazis thought that way in th 1930's and 40's
Reminds me of the wording on the 1870-71 campaign medal that my great-grandfather received for his service to Kaiser Wilhelm I:

Dem siegreichen Heere
Gott war mit uns, Ihm sei die Ehre.

The anarchist in me REALLY likes this song; so does the conscious objector of American (and really any nation) imperialism.  Reminds me of how I feel when "they" say "God Bless America" - really?...what about the rest of the world?  Shouldn't god bless them too?

I'm also a fan of the comment "Support Our Troops - BRING THEM HOME"

War is the vehicle used to destroy and create new markets to rebuild.  It's all money and power, and we the people of the world (i.e. the 99.9%) are the pawns; who is the grand master of it all anyways?  God?  The Rothschild family?  Putin and Trump (HA) ? ARRGGG

That was my minute of thinking about how screwed up it all is.  I want to hide in a hole sometimes when I feel this way....other times I feel like I need to act and help...but how and where and who?  ARRGGG again.

Here's another shout out to how AWESOME RP is....helps me get through my day with great tunes.

  pretty good but Civil Disobedience from this album is awesome, imo.. {#Cheesygrin}
Hmmmm....an interestingly snide political song.  In today's political climate you could replace the word "might" with "American"

"Yeah (to be) American makes right
Yeah (to be) American makes right
They say that god is on our side and made us American
Yeah might makes right
Yeah might makes right
They say that god is on our side; I don't believe them"

And a great comment about the disparity between our side and "theirs:"

"I'm crawling through the underbrush, we're teched up to the hilt
Compared to us these poor guys should be wearing shorts and kilts
I've got a living breathing shadow crossed up in my scope
My partner gives the signal, pull the trigger, then there's smoke..."

And yet despite all the tech and such why is it our side cannot subdue those guys in shorts and kilts, eh?

Maybe it comes to this in most of our geo-politics?

"Might makes stupid
Yeah might makes stupid
They say that god is on our side and (this) makes us stupid
Yeah might makes stupid
Yeah might makes stupid"

This goes some way's in explaining the never ending intransigence of the opposition.  And now on our side that stupidity has ascended all the way to the Power Oval.

So it goes in an era best described as a Kurt Vonnegut novella....

Wow, your knowledge of the history of the US Government involvement in Iran is shockingly nonexistent. Go spend some time on Wikipedia and learn something.

{#Doh}Oops, I was obviously thinking of Cracker; thanks for the correction.  I had apparently gotten all befuddled by two different, flour-based bands whose names begin with "C".

The last time a crown vic passed me real slow, I had to explain to the officer that yes "I always drive 75 in a 65".

Hell, normally I drive 80.

I heard the singer David Lowery on a local public radio station last night talking about singing this song in Iraq to the troops with his current band, Cracker.  It was on the show called "The Story."  Here's the link:

If the stupid people were smart enough to win, then that must mean that the smart people that lost aren't as smart as they think they are. Perhaps they spend all day emailing articles to another about how stupid the winners are, thereby not noticing while the "stupid" people are running the government. What is the weather like in that little world that you live in, anyway?
The "stupid people" are not the ones running the country, they are the ditoheads who ate up their pro-wrestling bumper sticker slogans and voted them into power. Like you, for instance...

I LOVE this song! A fantastic anti-war song of our time.
I like to view this song in a historical context. Many regimes have used the "might makes right" argument. Fairly recent garbage in the Balkans, Hitler, colonialism, Stalin and the gang, etc... Kind of like the tax office, lol.
With logic like that you'd have to say Hitler was right because he was in charge. Mugro wrote:

Ha ha, while there are shows like American Idol and I Love New York that stay at the top of the Nielsen charts, there will always more stupid people than smart people.

Truly a barf-full song. Listen to the anti-war songs of the '60s. They were powerful and artful. This is adolescent drivel. Think what you will of the Iraq war, but no one is claiming that might makes right.
Agreed. Especially the adolescent drivel part. It is SO tiresome to continue to hear the Left claim to be smarter than the Right. Didn't November teach them that they needed to come up with a new cliche? Enough with politics everyone!
This band always annoyed the shit out of me!!

Yeah I guess you can laugh but it's kindda like dumb and dumber once you've laughed once... well it is a bit pathetic, that some could think... or should I say BELIEVE that way. Anything vast enough to create an entire universe, is not on any side but it's own.

Excuse me for saying so - but this is an ignorant statement - those nations you refer to most certainly think THEIR God is ON THEIR SIDE - hence the problem with organized religion and the pain and suffering inflicted by the RELIGOUS RIGHT - be it Christians or Muslims - get a clue and keep the Song comments - just that comments on songs and start your own Forum for explaining how God is on YOUR side my Canadian friend......

Perfectly fitting lyrics in light of the current political debacle that is America. seems like this guy agrees...
