Sad fact is some (most) people don't want to question, don't want to think...

I typically don't really like Neil Young's music. Wouldn't you know it that one of the few songs of his that really chatches my ear is one that is rated pretty poorly. Maybe the CD/subject matter has more to do with the rating then the song itself? Oh well, what to I know...
I hear ya. Thing is, I am a Neil Young fan, and not much about his music, even the other misguided albums of the mid 80's, turns me off. I have been a fan since, oh, 1969 or so, and I own a huge catalog of his music. But every song I have heard on this one so far is just noise. For me it's not the subject matter, it is just poorly executed, poorly produced, and not interesting musically. It is so low quality it breaks my heart.

Yeah, a small group of the chronically constipated.

I was wondering what RP would play from this record...ah, the nonpolitical cuts. Well, I guess that makes sense. I respect that, but I have to agree with a previous listener, who suggested "Shock and Awe." Hell of a song; doesn't let anybody off the hook. Reminds me of "Rockin' in the Free World."

Help with what?
In all honesty, friend, you are the one who is in need of help if you indeed believe the official propaganda of the US government. Let's start with just one thing. How do you reconcile the fact of the collapse of WTC building number 7, which was not struck by a plane and suffered only minor fire damage? Have you seen the CBS and NBC videos of the collapse? What is your explanation and understanding of that event in the context of the "terrorist attack"?
If you'd like to carry on an adult debate, fine. We can go to the forum. If your intent, however, is to simply make silly comments, then let's end this right now and not waste our time.

There's an internal inconsistency here. The fact that the Republicans don't care about the common man IS relevant. The fact that the Bush adminstration planned and executed the 9/11 attacks as a "new Pearl Harbor" and used it as an excuse for waging war IS relevant. The fact that the American government is using "terrorism" as an excuse to collect information on Europeans when they use an airline IS relevant. The fact that the US constitution is being bulldozed in the name of "homeland security" IS relevant.
And you didn't elect the moron; he and his cronies stole not just one, but two elections. I understand your anger, but instead of venting against Neil Young, I suggest you support the 9/11 truth movement, or march in the streets, or sign a petition to impeach your war criminal president. Thank God Neil's singing about it.

This album kinda reminds me of the Billy Bragg movement of the late eighties to get young people (hell anybody) to vote to get the ugly republicans out of power. Oh well, Dukakass made that pretty pointless. My point here (if there is one) is that now we have a Canadian pissing and moaning about this senseless war (and making money off it to boot!). Its too bad Neil can't write about the good in the world instead of being a critical fuck. Course he really has no talent. Can't play guitar or sing to save his butt so I guess this is really a promotional Godsend for him.
Now don't get me wrong. Bush is an idiot for getting us into this f_ing mess but leave it to good ole Neil Young to shove it down our throats (just like the republicans have).
I hate this song. I hate this ugly war. And hate being critisized by others because we narrowly elected one of the biggest morons in the history of the planet.
Write and sing about something relevant. Cause the republican war mongering machine don't give a shit about the common man.

You are right, Bush is close to being one of the biggest moron in history, but you shouldn't feel bad if you haven't voted for him. If you have raised your voice in the only way it is possible in a democracy. The system is bad, there is no better around. And you can beleive this to one from a country that has just recently gained its freedom and had free elections.
And about the song, if Neil has achieved so much as to write this all down, maybe, this isn't such a bad song.. not that I liked it musically, but it has something to say.

Yeah, right, that's why he streamed it FREE on the internet.

Wow that was a scary song, for a minute I thought someone put a cat in a blender.
What a great, politically-subtle album
I LOVE THIS SONG!!!! Thank you Neil Young!

The new Rolling Stone mag, a fantasic 1000th issue tribute, with a great 3-d cover, has great articles about how, from the very beginning, they believed music and politics belonged together.
This whole album is great. It is good to hear some anger in music. How about playing Shock and Awe? Long live Neil Young!

Yeah, I hate it when that happens.
Now go back and listen to Clint Black.

I like his singing and playing, but I have to admit this comment made me laugh (in a good way, not in a derisive way)
I wish I actually *liked* it more.
Thank God for the angry voice of Neil Young in these days of yet another pointless and evil war.
some people still make music to make a statement... everyones always quick to judge and blame greed
