The lack of light, hollow sea,
Poison beaches, limousines
Toothless dentists, cops that kill...

My baby's got the lonesome lows,
Don't quite go away overnight;
Dr. Blind just prescribe the blue ones.
If the the dizzying highs don't subside overnight,
Dr. Blind, just prescribe the red ones.

Hard to hold, cold to touch,
Fall to pieces, treat the rush,
In hindsight, with prime time talk.
All your pain will end here.
Let the doctor soothe your brain, dear.

My baby's got the lonesome lows,
Don't quite go away overnight;
Dr. Blind just prescribe the blue ones.
If the the dizzying highs don't subside overnight,
Dr. Blind just prescribe the red ones.

Great song and the new Metric album sizzles. To bad RP didn't grab it, somebody should try to upload a tune or 2 from it.

I just came over to post something about how good the Metric album is. I know there are a couple of songs from it getting played it. Its an amazing record.
Very nice

Just the sort of patients that psychoquacks like, at least going by this song which to my ears is all about the 'pharmaceutical cosh'. 8 from the Nottingham jury.

How queer: I just boosted this from a 3 to a 7.  Am I a moody guy, I wonder.
This song's opening reminds me of that Conan O'Brien lullaby he often sings with his guitar..."

Little Baby
Go to sleep
Fall into
a slumber Deep
Let me sing
this gentle song
you won't be
awake for long
for long, for long

It's a funny, thing you know
your conprehension's
very low
it doesn't matter
what I say
as long as it's
this gentle way
this way, this way

Hotel fires, exploding cabs
Michael Jackson
is a dad
Dirty bombs, bloody nose
Im not wearing any clothes
no clothes , no clothes

Now Im sure your fast
asleep
Dreaming dreams of lambs
and sheep
David Duchovny will
be out next
Mom and Dad now go have sex
and watch me, watch me......

NOT good music for a Friday. We need to boost the scene! This ain't working.

shut up dumb ass.
the instrumentation sounds like the soundtrack to one of those soft porn Euro flicks from the 70s I used to watch on the playboy channel when I was kid during those rare weekends when the channel was unscrambled.
dreamy, depressing, suicidal
new one for me - instant like factor!
Who used to do songs like this like, 40 years ago?

....oh yeah...THE BEATLES.
7-8 easy
When I hear that first, very first opening note, I think I am about to hear "Colour My World" by Chicago.  not ashamed to admit it either.

Ohh I like that! Thanks
I'm so in love with Emily Haines. {#Hearteyes}

Oh that's just mean. I kind of like Emily. Fiona - not at all.

Sounds like Fiona Apple.

I heard a version/remix of this song once that was more upbeat and had some background vocals (something about Mrs. Robinson, I think) that I've been trying to find ever since. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Maybe Metric did a version of it? I'd love to find it again.
i just changed my rating from a 7 to an 8. good song.
It's Emily!! It's Emily!! Oh my gawd, it's Emily!!! Love this track. Now, to see if "Crowd Surf Off A Cliff" is in the library...

I hear Poe.
Channeling Sam Phillips... Soundin good.
I find this song/voice combination particularly moving or touching. Sounds exquisitely depressing for me.

Wow, another one I love. Way to go Bill. Great morning this morning. This song is so haunting and beautiful. It makes me want to twirl around in some mist or something, lol.
hand me the razor blades, sleeping pills, alcohol, and carbon monoxide . . . .
Wasn't that instrumental part used in a soap opera? Also, doesn't that CD cover look like an eye chart?

OMG!! I just posted this video in the YouTube:Music Videos thread in the forums a little while ago! Thanks for playing it, Bill!
The end of this song is floating me back to a world of the seventees when life was still uncomplicated. Beautiful song.
This gets a ten from me. I can see myself (through so many long boring stories) in this song that I can't rate it anything less. Just beautiful.
What ? Suzanne Vega again after just a few songs ? Aaah, that's not her, that's Emily Haines.
Was that the dog barking in the background? Nice. Lends a sense of sitting in my living room feel to the ambiance. I don't have a dog.
Sorry Bill but how do you to this after Who's Wont Get Fooled Again?
i really like her voice, but i think thats a dumb dumb band name
several months later, and i still really dig it.
Eminently listenable, could be contagious. Borderline 9.

I have recently become engrossed in Emily Haines work - this disc as well as her work with Metric. If you haven't had the chance, it is well worth exploring further.

Agreed, and the video just adds to the feel. I have some odd affinity for this type of sound/video.

Me too. It was in my head this morning, seems fitting in my life right now, and a few minutes later Bill plays it. Love when that happens!!!

On a kind of related note, "Doctor Blind" in the ER prescribed me some percocet for pain when I scratched my cornea a couple months ago. I am a hypothyroid, which I had told the staff. Anyway, percocet seemed like a strong substance I had bad feelings about taking and my scratched cornea wasnt all that bad, so I didnt take it. And then I looked up online if I was crazy for avoiding taking the Percocet or not...to confirm my issues or realize I screwed up. And it said on a few sites, "dont take Percocet if you have a hypothyroid problem" Thank God for intuition, people, that's all I am saying. Be an alert patient.I am deeply paranoid of receiving what I call "fast food care" in the ER because staff might be overworked, tired, 'seen it all before', what have you. No offense intended to folks who work in the ER, this was just my experience.
You did the right thing.

And be especially careful about your prescription label warning about combining it with alcohol. I think the warning means if you combine it with beer you urinate a lot of the codeine out,so stick with liquor. I went 365 days without a drink last year

Oh yeah! Ditto the positive comments here. Creepy, dreamy, textured. Me likey! P.S. Gotta love that uber-creative/also creepy name for the group, "The Soft Skeleton" too.

I don't like comparisons one bit, but to be honest, I came over to rate Madeleine Peyroux, so, there you have it? Emily Haines has my vote for president, as well as BGT's, MP and Po'Girl!
yeah, totally creepy, but really growing on me!
