It's sped up to the point where they provoke
The punchline before they have told the joke
Can see a desperation to be seen
Staring at the television screen
It's sped up to the point where they provoke
You to tell the fucking punchline before you have told the joke
Sorry, sunshine, it doesn't exist
It wasn't in the top 100 list
And it's the thousandth time that it's even bolder
Don't be surprised when you get bent over
They told ya, but you were dyin' for it
Saw it and she grabbed it
And it wasn't what it seemed
The kids all dream of making it
Whatever that means
Another variation on a theme
A tangle on the television and the magazine
D'you reckon that they do it for a joke?
D'you reckon that they make 'em take an oath?
That says that "We are defenders
Of any poseur or professional
pretender around"'
And when did your list replace the twist and turn
And the fist replaced a kiss
Don't concern us with your bollocks
I don't want your prayer
Save it for the morning after
And it's the thousandth time that it's even bolder
Don't be surprised when you get bent over
They told ya but you were gagging for it
Let's have a game on the Teddy Picker
Not quick enough, can I have it quicker?
Already thick and you're gettin' thicker
Let's have a game on the Teddy Picker
Not quick enough, can I have it quicker?
Already thick and you're gettin' thicker
Presuming that all things are equal
Who'd want to be men of the people
When there's people like you?
The punchline before they have told the joke

KILLER BAND! I never get tired of this tune. Tonight after a good ride and some Jenny Kush, I notice and love how the guitarist Jamie Cook gets into such a righteous Buck Dharma-style jam towards the end!

Arctic Monkeys are as fake as Tom Cruise

I generally like the icy chimps, but if this is the best song on the album, I will pass . . .

GREAT song! Best on the album I think. I can imagine this really blows the roof off when they play it live.

Dead Ringers doing spoof of Arctic Monkeys - pretty funny: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGGxBPSQRX8
I like how this tune just GRABS you after a certain number of listenings and then doesn't want to let you go... I also like how it makes me think of the Kaiser Chiefs, which would of course just ROCK if I heard 'em about now...
Awesome, great tune :)

Tired of this stuff...seems very derivative.
Of what? And what music isn't? After thousands of years of human music-making every piece is going to be 'derivative' of something. There are only so many ways that you can combine sounds and rhythms that appeal to the human ear, and all will have been tried by now. As criticisms go "derivative" is not very meaningful unless you say what they're ripping off.
"save it for the morning after" - reminds me of that cheesy Duran Duran song, though only for that phrase. This song makes me think of knee-tremblers in dark alleys after pub closing time. Good fun (the song, that is, not knee-tremblers). 7 from the Nottingham jury.
I think these kids are great , I think they sound fresh.

Everyting is derivative to some degree. I tend to think its more about presentation and this has some POW on the presentation side.
"Asuming that all things are equal,
Who'd want to be men of the people
When there's people like you?"

Good stuff at 7:30am. It's waking me up!!
I definitely hear the Ziggy Stardust/Suffragette City Bowie, especially toward the end.
Sounds like J. Lennon at the edges.
Perhaps it's like John on Yoko.

The Arctic Monkeys are already many levels above the Strokes. Much better playing and lyrics. That the second album is better than the first is an indicator of great things to come.
The Strokes were catchy but all pose.
WhatEVER. I'd say THESE guys are catchy but all pose. Do they even have any legs of their own to stand on? Take away the Strokes, and I'm not sure these guys will have any songs to write.
This song = weak Juicebox cover. Now THERE'S a cool song.
for a second i thought this was kings of leon. sadly, it's not.
Totally kickin'
I love "Red Light" by these guys a lot.

I guess I could upload it to RP but I don't have much luck with the songs I choose to upload.
wow! upload! upload!
One of the best new bands, IMO.

It's called, just the tip.

I'm serious. I don't know where those crazy David Bowie peeps come from, but these guys positively do sound like the Strokes. And I find it a little offensive that RP's Strokes inventory is so pathetic compared to that of their copycats.

Don\'t get me wrong -- I like the Arctic Monkeys. But they are SUCH ripoffs of the Strokes. . .at least with this song.
At the very start, briefly, oh so briefly, I thought I heard Fetchin' Bones - Chicken Truck.
I guess I could upload it to RP but I don't have much luck with the songs I choose to upload.

Sounds to me like a tirade about inane TV game /quiz /talent shows and the effect that they have on the viewers in an 'opium-of-the-people' stylee.
Is David Bowie in this band?

Hey, it's the REAL Arctic Monkeys. Hoorah!
reviews are saying Fluorescent Adolescent is the best song on the album - could we hear that one?

Your crazy! I like them but as good as the beatles??
I'm sooo glad new wave is back, but would like more female leads... tired of boy bands! I fell into Hot Hot Heat, Ferdinand and The Strokes like what, 4 years ago? This is already sounding homogenized.

Woohoo! I'm seeing their show in Atlanta in 2 weeks, and I didn't even know they have a new disc out. Way to go Bill! When will the US market catch on to what England already knows? Go Monkeys!
