Well, things have changed in the last years and if that ever was the case, it's not now.
One of the songs by this band that is pretty good, in my opinion.

What a rude and disrespectful person you are, rdo. 🐨

very nice!
People are just plain silly, the things we say & do...we have such a narrow scope of reality.
I wish there was some way to get rid of the vocals.

I'll bet you care about the poor more than I do, which has nothing to do with Moral Ranking. The song has a great groove, 7.
There should be a PIA (play it again) button.

{#Lol}  I am not sure if that is a diss against me...but that was my point to begin with.  Touché.

OK, I'll bite, what do they "stand for" that you hate so much? Are they racist skin heads? Do they eat children or what?

Well, let's see what Wikipedia has to say.... Hmmm, they look like a mighty fine bunch of people! Anyone who has the courage to stand-up against the wrong headed policies of our nation is a win!

Thievery Corporation has taken progressive political stances on various issues, opposing war and exploitative trade agreements, while supporting human rights and food programs. Tracks such as "Amerimacka" and "Revolution Solution" from their album The Cosmic Game and Richest Man in Babylon from the album of the same title reveal the group's opposition to the positions and initiatives of former president George W. Bush's administration.

In September 2005, the group participated in the Operation Ceasefire concert, with the objective of ending the Iraq War.

From their press release regarding their album Radio Retaliation, Garza said:

Radio Retaliation is definitely a more overt political statement There's no excuse for not speaking out at this point, with the suspension of habeas corpus, outsourced torture, illegal wars of aggression, fuel, food, and economic crises. It's hard to close your eyes and sleep while the world is burning around you. If you are an artist, this is the most essential time to speak up."

—Rob Garza<6>

Thievery Corporation are vocal advocates for the World Food Programme, seeing hunger as "...something basic, really elemental, that transcends boundaries around the world."<7>

At Lollapalooza 2009 the group spoke out against the IMF after playing the politically charged song "Vampires"
Even though I may hate everything this band stands for.  I like them.
Nice! Love this style!
A little repetitive for my taste, but overall fairly pleasant.
Lots of folks attest to their great live show.  This song is quite fine.  But What a Great Name for a band!
These guys are consistently fabulous.  Hoping to see them live one day.
She's singing "Let me see God". icyww

Smooth like peanut butter!
Very nice!
Sexy sound
Saw them LIVE a few months ago at the Fabulous Fox.  They brought their usual cohorts, and picked up a couple of ATL rappers for that night.  Non-stop dance party for the 90 minutes they played.  LIVE doesn't come close to describing that experience.  WOOOO-EEEE!

My understanding is that Ravi was (is?) quite a busy guy and that Norah isn't alone in not sharing Anoushka's surname.

Yep, I discovered this group on RP too. Back to the twilight zone I go on this one.
The name anoushka in the title attracts rather than the voice/vocals (not speaking for the person's sitar prowess) - this could have been any passable singer humming in the background- they are a dime a dozen in india-
makes me feel like
just what i needed to flow into the weekend. ahhhhhhhhh

I like. One area that I have alaways been tragically unhip in is that I've never really cared all that much for Reggae, even when I lived in Eugene, Oregon back in the 70's and it seemed that to be truly hip ya had to like it!
Eugene had a reggae phase? I've lived here for 14 years, and I've never really heard much reggae. I've heard more reggae in San Antonio, Texas than I've heard here. Mostly I've known the "hippies" here to be into Grateful Dead and the like. But Reggae? Not so much.
I like. Hmmm, I almost never comment about the tunes I am not wild about. But then again there is very little on RP that I don't like -- there's a wonderfully notable absence of Rap, Hip Hop and Heavy Metal here, which is fine by me. I do appreciate music that has a "non-Western" feel to it, influences from India and the Middle East. One area that I have alaways been tragically unhip in is that I've never really cared all that much for Reggae, even when I lived in Eugene, Oregon back in the 70's and it seemed that to be truly hip ya had to like it!

Great version of this tune. Snakey & sinuous. Love it.
TC somehow snuck their way up to my Top 5 on last.fm Love it!
This is refreshing, after that Neil Young tripe.

That high-pitched alien sound is being done on a sitar? I assumed that was her, uh, voice. Never heard Ravi do that. The apple may not fall far from the tree, but some of them roll way downhill.
It sounds like you aren't familiar with Indian vocal music. If you are referring to the voice, it might be Swarnima Gusain. She sings "Beloved" on the Rise album. As far as I know, Anoushka Shankar doesn't vocalize on recordings.
