There were quite a few bands that started in the 'home counties' - outside of London in the 60/70s. Notably in the SE - Surrey & Kent.
There was also the 'Canterbury scene' with bands like Soft Machine and Caravan, which had quite a dedicated following and a suprisingly strong fan-base in Japan!

Terrific song! Well, there's a band that's been around a while. Almost shocking to see they put something out in 1999. I had bought "I Can See Your House From Here" in 1979. Not sure that one's aged so well, but this tune (and incarnation of the band) is quite nice.

Th first gig that I went to was Camel at Sheffield City Hall.  I remember that the drummer was spectacular.  The Snow Goose is worth investigating, people.

I embarrassingly am 'discovering' Camel for the first time and am very appreciative of Bill and RP introducing me to this band and to number7 for sharing the suggestion on Moonmadness. Wow - what a great album. I do not know how this band slipped through the cracks on my musical journey. Better late than never!!!

Are you referring to David Gilmour? Whereas David Gilmour famously played a Fender Stratocaster, the guitar used on this track is, to my ears at least, a humbucker-equipped guitar.

Love this tune.  Maybe add some additional Camel tracks.  Ice from the I Can See LP.  And while you're adding.....  maybe something from Pat Metheny's Wichita Falls album, Japan's Despair, more David Sylvian, just about any track from Mark Isham's Vapor Drawings, Phi Manzanera's 801 Listen Now, Elephant from Jason Isbell, and new track from Sheryl Crow "Don't" from her new album.......

I discovered Camel late high school - 77 or 78. Moonmadness had just come out and fit into my trippy prog rock tastes and I collected a couple of albums on either side but drifted away from them by the early 80s. This has such a different sound that I had to check Wiki to see if it was the same band. Amazed to see it is and they're still touring - need to go exploring and catching up. Thanks again Bill - you always keep it interesting!

There is not enough Camel on RP. And although Rajaz is great there is much more of Camel.
