In deepest hollow of our minds
A system failure left behind
And their necks crane
As they turn to pray for rain
And their necks crane
Dull residue of what once was
A shattered cloud of swirling doves
And their eyes change
As they learn to see through flames
And their necks crane
As they turn to pray for rain
Their eyes change
As they learn to see through flames
And their necks crane
As they turn to pray for rain
Drops on rocks fall fast and fleeting
Hearts and wings commence to beating
What's unseen with all believing
Vision walls fall all receding
Vision walls fall all receding
Drops on rocks come fast and fleeting
Rhythm laws unleash their meaning
Usher us into the dreaming
Vision walls fall all receding
Hearts and wings commence to beating
All unending, all completing
Vision walls fall fast and fleeting
Vision walls fall all revealing
Vision walls fall all revealing
Vision walls fall all revealing

Started with a 5 and dropped to a 3 ... it's just so monotone, repetitive.

Well, they should live here. It's rained nearly every day since last October. Can I change the lyrics to "Tired of Rain"?

great stuff... gonna get this album for sure!
I absolutely LOVE this, and the rest of the album. One of the many I had to add thanks to RP :)
I like 'Prayers for rain' The Cure, much more
This would play well with some Morphine.

when the song started I thought it was Touch Me I'm Going to Scream... My Morning Jacket → Evil Urges which is a great song!

You know, I just had to upgrade this to a 7 from a 3 — it's growing on me. It's just a little "chewy" — takes a little while to get your ears around it.

It's Tunde Adebimpe (lead singer of TV On The Radio).

Is this Charlie Wilson singing? I have his HOBO album and that voice is quite distinct.

Love the drum-heavy section in the middle. Great tune.

Yes, very catchy, with what sounds like a sample from Porcupine Tree halfway through!

Been looking forward to seeing these guys since I picked up Blue Lines in a used shop about 15 years ago. Finally, this Friday, I shall be rewarded for my patience (and my 55 bucks). Not sure any band can live up to this kind of anticipation, but from the live stuff I've seen on the 'tube, they have a good chance of doing so.
I like this one — a nice rambling groove.
i usually like Massive A.. but not this
Massive Attack: always creative. Nice.

This sounds spooky and ominous, they have a nice way of capturing serious, dramatic tones.

Bits of this drumming are so reminiscent of Jaki Leibzeit of Can, needs a mad vocalist as well

this was interesting to come two songs after "Happy Together" —-it's pretty gloomy. I like it, but it's gloomy. Are we changing direction here?
This song always stops me in my tracks.. So good.
I have been a fan of this band since "blue lines" in 1990. Then, I read a review of that album that observed that "America is not ready for Massive Attack." I suspect that this is still true. They are amazing through the years, although I did not like 13 floors (stairs?) all that much.

What a wildly diverse track! It felt like I just listened to three different songs glued together by the lyrics alone. I don't know what to think just yet. Might take a while to figure out where to stand on this one.

Nice to hear something new from MA
Wow, this funeral dirge really bummed me out.
See them live, last november. Certainly one my best concert ! If not the Best. Really awesome
As was mentioned earlier, this sounds really nice on headphones. And I like the "jumble" mish mash....
Me like.
It's okay, but certainly doesn't capture my attention like the songs on their other albums.
Love it, even though I agree with Bill it does not sound like MA!
This is just stupid
Just playing TV on the Radio would be far more pleasing.
Wow. I used to like these guys. Sounds like surprise autopsy as opposed to massive attack.

Splitting Headache would be a better name for the album. This cut makes Morphine sound like the Archies. They say that after Syd Barrett began to freak out, he'd sometimes stand there for hours playing the same note over and over with a dazed look on his face. Also, at the zoo, a cheetah's pacing back and forth endlessly in front of its cage is said to be a sign that it has gone partially mad. This song reminds me of Syd and the cheetah. Poor things. 1 from the Notinmycollection Jury.

What a confused track. Sum of the parts is an ugly jumble.
Not a lot of middle ground with this offering.
I like it better with headphones. Layered like a parfait and I dig the groove.
That's my two cents, which can't even buy me a piece of Bazooka bubble gum anymore.

This has been kind of on in the background, but without listening closely I just realized that it is totally creeping me out, and I'm not really sure why.
Reminds me of a tune from the film "Triplettes of Belleville".

Massive Elbow? Elbow Attack?
It's not bad, but I don't hear what I associate with Massive Attack here. <pretend I put a shrugging emoticon here>
The record was produced by Guy Garvey and Craig Potter from Elbow, which could account for the different sound.

Wow! ihadn't guessed that this was MA, I like it..and give it an immediate 6...but usually I have to digest their stuff slowly over repeated listenings...this will probably climb.
I like this one, makes me interested in checking out this new album. Didn't quite like the last album ("100th Window") as much, a little too electronic and directionless. This song sounds like they kept a little of that sound as seasoning, but then went back and did something in the style of the "Protection" album. If the rest of the album is like this, I can see myself keeping this one on rotation for a while.
Like it, nice mood. In my experience the more textural MA tracks are the most long-lived on my playlist.
Vocalist sounds like Terry Callier, who also featured on Live With Me from the Greatest Hits collection.

This is the singer from TVotR. The record was produced by Guy Garvey and Craig Potter from Elbow, which could account for the different sound. Guy sings on a song too. Can we hear that one, Bill? Please?
This is the second Massive Attack tune today, and I am intrigued. This has such an ominous feel thanks to all the minor chords. I like it.
It's all right
nothing exciting...

Not very impressive
...totally reminiscent of chemical brothers...
Yeah!!!, all the new EP is great , huges from Colombia
IMHO this is much better than the other song (Splitting The Atom) from this album that was played on RP yesterday. But I have to agree with Bill, I also never would have guessed that this is Massive Attack. Then again, it's been a long time since their last studio album, 6 years to be exact.
just caught the end of this but I think I want to buy this track. sounds excellent

I think this EP is a preview track of their upcoming full length CD. Could be wrong about that, though...
