I'm writing this to you in reverse
Someone better call a hearse
I can see it all from here
From just a few glimpses
Now that lightbulb's gone off
And it's pulling my wince
And now the lightbulb's gone off
I've seen it in your eyes
I've seen you blankly stare
And I wanna show you how I love you
But there's nothing there

I'm not standin' here!
Oh I'm not standin' here!
And I'm writing in reverse
I know it could be worse
I'm not standing here, I'm not standing here
(I'm not standing here, I'm not standing here)
(and I'm writing in reverse, I know it could be worse)
And I hear that famous song
And I hear that can't be wrong

No nothin' was planned
You just can't help yourself
Some people are so easily shuffled and dealt
If there's only one of us you truly felt
We're gettin' you raw
And it feels real good
Although only briefly
Like high school paupers would
Will you lose a bit of yourself?
Will you lose a bit of yourself?

I'm not standin' here!
Oh I'm not standin' here!
And I'm writing in reverse
I know it could be worse
I hear that famous song
And I hear that can't be wrong

All I know, is all I know,
Yes, all I know, is all I know
Is all I know...

I'm writing this to you in reverse
Someone better call a hearse (woo!)
I can see it all from here
From just a few glimpses
Now that lightbulb's gone off
And it's pulling my wince
And now the lightbulb's gone off
I've seen it in your eyes
And there's nothing there
There's nothing there
I wanna show you how I love you
I can see you blankly stare

I for one agree with you, horstman.  I grew to appreciate their rhythm technique after seeing them in concert a few weeks ago.  It is their forte, an off-kilter garage rock-and-roll version of hard funk.  Or if comparision shopping is your thing, mid-period James Brown meets Pavement.

I saw them the other day on Austin City Limits and I have to say honestly that I was disappointed in their performance. They just didn't seem to have it tight. They seemed confused and maybe they were just nervous being on national TV in a venue of their home town.

But their live presence was pretty flat. I hope they are better live in a small club. They seem like one of those bands that are really good in studio and less so live. Too bad. Porcupine Tree is great both in the studio and live. But it seems the live shows really show the spark and drive that this band is becoming famous for. Hope Spoon can reach this level.

Embarrassed to have this on my radio at work...
Awesome!
A swing and a miss.

I alway's think of jackie greene at the beginning  (a good thing),  and then that dam banging starts up!!!

sounds like banging on the guitar to me.
Yikes!  Its the "Difficult Music Hour" at RP.  See ya!

Their rhythms are very intricate and complex but offer up a sound that is both rich and simple. This album took a lot longer to digest than Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga or Gimme Fiction but it was worth the repeated listens. It is a great album to listen to in the car when you want to go fast and play traffic (it helps to have a car that is a willing partner in these pursuits).

Overall, a solid 8. Not as strong as Gimme Fiction, but like Porcupine Tree, they continue to explore the boundaries of music and try to not invent themselves but rather refine themselves.

"Has anything interesting ever happened to you in connection with spoons?" (Me and My Spoon, Private Eye)

Intricate and complex?  It's a straight grungy 4 and not even an interesting one at that.  Is Horst the Hater pretending to be a musician now?

You bashed me several posts ago for trashing others opinions on music. But for you its okay? Hypocrisy is a hard thing to digest when you look in the mirror.

And yes, I do hate certain things, but quite frankly, your little tirade on all things Horst the Hater is getting dated.

Do you wish to call a truce on this, a sortof a "agree to disagree"?

It is I that now offers an olive branch. Do you accept?

Later.

That's because they've perfected mediocrity.

Oh, c'mon, Bill.  The last Spoon was just a few hours ago; I remember because it was the last time I hit the mute button.  Way.  Too.  Often.

Spoon is great because? Don't find them particularly compelling on any front.  {#Think}

Lots of positive comments, poor rating. It's like Arcade Fire released Neon Bible all over again.
This band has won me over.
This one is growing on me...false ending and everything.

I'm diggin' it!

Mining a vein of Warren Zevon ore, I hear. Someone's gotta do it.
Nice, ragged, angry rock'n'roll. Spoon does it again.
