In the suburbs I, I learned to drive
And you told me we'd never survive
Grab your mother's keys we're leaving

You always seemed so sure
That one day we'd be fighting in a suburban war
Your part of town against mine
I saw you standing on the opposite shore
But by the time the first bombs fell
We were already bored, we were already, already bored

Sometimes I can't believe it
I'm moving past the feeling
Sometimes I can't believe it
I'm moving past the feeling again

The kids want to be so hard but in my dreams
We're still screaming and running through the yard
When all of the walls that they built in the Seventies finally fall
And all of the houses they built in the Seventies finally fall
Meant nothing at all? Meant nothing at all, it meant nothing

Sometimes I can't believe it
I'm moving past the feeling
Sometimes I can't believe it
I'm moving past the feeling and into the night

So can you understand
Why I want a daughter while I'm still young?
I want to hold her hand and show her some beauty
Before all this damage is done
But if it's too much to ask, if it's too much to ask
Then send me a son
Under the overpass in the parking lot we're still waiting, it's already past
So move your feet from hot pavement and into the grass
'Cause it's already past, it's already, already past

Sometimes I can't believe it
I'm moving past the feeling
Sometimes I can't believe it
I'm moving past the feeling again

I'm moving past the feeling, I'm moving past the feeling

In my dreams we're still screaming
We're still screaming
We're still screaming

They are wonderful live. I'm going again in about month to see them with Beck in Chicago! Bringing my 16 yo son who is a huge AF fan. Yeah, pretty psyched!

They are interesting to watch live.  I'm not sure why they need 50 people on stage, but it's intriguing to watch them, especially the girl who seems to move around a lot.  :)
I'm not a huge fan of Arcade Fire, but this album is truly epic. Works great as an album concept.
When Canada has RUSH, Cohen & Lightfoot why do we let these guys in the door? Production values are all over the map...too many incohesive tracks...some of it is really good... some not so much.
I love it ... blah raspberry
Wow, an Arcade Fire song with a rating in the 7s! ๐Ÿ˜

... this track is at least an 8 though... ๐Ÿ˜œ
Good Tune!

I'm not sure what it is about this stanza, but it's like a swift kick in the (emotional) groin for me.

For sure.

If similar band was formed in Bangladesh, singing in Bengali, people here would give it lots of aces (1). But yeah, this is Western music, oh so pleasing for our ears. Even though it's a pure mediocre trite.

Incredible groove. 10.
Saw this band live in August and they were fantastic!
great song, great album, great band. I recently revisited this album was amazed all over again.
Can't wait for the new release in October.
Bill why didn't "Suburban War" make it to the playlist? It's the best track on this great album as far as I am concerned.

Regina and Win recently became the parents of a baby boy. I wonder how parenthood will influence their future work.
Excellent segue from Tame Impala - Elephant

This is what I wrote the last time this played. I'm repeating it. But this cut, at least, is not just boring. Now it's annoying. Is the drummer a human or a machine. In this case, what's the freakin' difference? Enough AF. Bring the fire extinguisher.

Dearest, we are so sad to let you go from this place. So sad to know that this place is not good enough for you. But we have to accept the fact, that there are better places for you out there, places that really deserve your class. In true humbleness {#Notworthy}
I WANT to like them.... But I just can't seem to find anything that is interesting.

Its all a little off to me. Not that thins matters to real fans but I just had to share.

Thanks for listening

Pretty sly reference, my fellow British Columbian. Given's Campbell's love of gambling proceeds, I'm surprised he never got around to legalizing and taxing soup ;)

And so what would work for you in the Rock department right now?   Just curious.
That's why it's called Radio Paradise and not Rock Paradise !

You know, I never made that connection before. But your right - Win's falsetto is eerily similar to Paul Stanleys.

Soup after gambling but before sex.

I like this song a lot.  However, it always makes me feel sad.
Getting cool to this Arcade Fire thing. Of late, every damn song sounds the same. I'm downgrading or even muting until they evolve their motif.

Okay, the last song was Robbie Robertson - Fear of Falling, which only garnered a 5.8.  To me, even though it was disappointing it had much more going for it - vocals, instrumentals and style. In comparison this seems rated way too high.  Its beat is plodding and it's instrumentally unremarkable.

meh.  For me this is a 5.8.  Oh well.

Yep. Even a 5.8 is generous for this.

Its the headrests, wiper arms, and rearview mirror that have me convinced.

"THE SUBURBS"
Grammy 2011 for album of the year; but they didn't play this song on the show!

Nah.  I mean, if that were true, Willie Nelson would be serving a triple life sentence.

Speaking of which - check this out - Willie Nelson has started an NPO for, um, soup? law reform. Click that or just Google "teapot party".

American suburbs of music!

Possibly the most boring place on this planet!!!
Darlings of the industry that they are, I don't think that they are so great...  {#Undecided}
I love arcade fire.  This song reminds me of my recent road trip across wyoming.

Is it too much to hope for a 30 something music head with secret tattoos to remove me from rainy england and take me on a permanent road trip?  Thought so...now where's my brolly?

Couldn't have said it better myself.  This song has actually grown on me, unlike the other songs from this album that I've heard.  My first impression of all of them was "bo-o-o-o-o-o-o-oring".  But this one has a Spoon-like hypnotic effect with that kick drum beat.
