From Liverpool to Tokyo
What a way to go
From distant lands one woman one man
Let the four winds blow
Three thousand miles over the ocean
Three thousand light years from the land of the rising sun
Love has opened up my eyes
Love has blown right through
Wherever you are, you are here
Wherever you are, you are here
Three thousand miles over the ocean
Three thousand light years from the land of the surprising sun
Well now east is east and west is west
The twain shall meet
East is west and west is east
Let it be complete
Three thousand miles over the ocean
Three thousand light years from the land of the morning star
What a way to go
From distant lands one woman one man
Let the four winds blow
Three thousand miles over the ocean
Three thousand light years from the land of the rising sun
Love has opened up my eyes
Love has blown right through
Wherever you are, you are here
Wherever you are, you are here
Three thousand miles over the ocean
Three thousand light years from the land of the surprising sun
Well now east is east and west is west
The twain shall meet
East is west and west is east
Let it be complete
Three thousand miles over the ocean
Three thousand light years from the land of the morning star

Doesn't sound like the Lennon of Twist and Shout or Help! He's tired. And this song, though nice and Zen philosophical, is kind of semi-baked piffle. I have only heard this once before ever, and it was almost annoying. For Lennon, a 6. For anyone else, a 3. He got older, the weight of the world grew, but a little more Bulldog may have served him better.
Not one of the best Lennon songs (far away from this)... But still 8, because John is John, far far away from any Gallagher of life.
This song is soooo good for the ears...
I know this rubs a lot of folks the wrong way, but I just don't get engaged by most of Lennon's music later in his career. I find myself waiting impatiently for it to end. A personal failing I know, but it doesn't work for me, especially in light of what came before. So it goes.

I think it was originally on Mind Games.
I thought I had heard everything he recorded: what is this from?
