All the way from where we came
Built a mansion in a day
Distant lightning, thunder claps
Watch our neighbors house collapse
Looked the other way
And then the storm was overhead
All the oceans boiled and rivers bled
We auctioned off our memories
In the absence of a breeze
Scatter what remains
Scatter what remains!

Pushed away, I'm pulled toward
A comedown of revolving doors
Every warning we ignored
Drifting in from distant shores
The wind presents a change of course
A second reckoning of sorts
We were wasted waiting for
A comedown of revolving doors

(Aah, aah, aah)
Fate, don't fail me now.
(Aah, aah, aah)

And when the days that followed past
In another mansion built to last
From our window we could see only possibilities
Down the road and back
But, then the storm returned for more
In a come down of revolving doors
Auctioned off our memories
In the absence of a breeze
Scatter what remains
Scatter what remains!

Pushed away, I'm pulled toward
A comedown of revolving doors
Every warning we ignored
Drifting in from distant shores
The wind presents a change of course
A second reckoning of sorts
We were wasted waiting for
A comedown of revolving doors

(Aah, aah, aah)
Fate, don't fail me now.
(Aah, aah, aah)
Fate, don't fail me now.
(Aah, aah, aah)
Fate, don't fail me now.
(Aah, aah, aah)
Fate, don't fail me now.

I can only wonder why this band hasn't gotten more popular.  The whole album is a banger.

Interestingly if anyone hasn't heard the album, "Fate don't fail me now" isn't just a lyric from Speed The Collapse but also a leitmotif that appears throughout the album.

This song is like the perfect chocolate chip cookie. It doesn't need creativity.
80´s  Berlin melancholic pop vibes. Nice

He has a graduated creativity cylinder.

I wonder if Bill and Rebecca would consider putting together a running mix on RP.

Kind of like The Smiths, a nice pop tune until you listen to the lyrics!
Every time I hear Metric, I wonder why I don't own any of their albums.

Ah.  The way is "badly", then.

Who is "we"?

Nice song, sadly relevant today.
I think this was the dream I had about a month ago. I can see this dystopia rather clearly.

A couple of FINE vids on the Tube... They sound great live too! The guitar player is shredding his strings!!! I assumed it was a synth...
They have newer material, as well.

LOL!  Hilarious.
My newest vinyl LP - shame my record player is now broken. Really like this band, and grateful my daughter introduced me to them. Play more, please.

I am so envious!  I went to see them a few months ago at a club I had been to before, but the sound mixing was so bad that I couldn't even hear Emily's voice due to the over-heavy bass.  It looked like they were having fun playing up there, but I ended up leaving the show early because I was so disappointed.

That's a shame. The place I saw them had very decent sound, although a bit loud for my old ears but that turned out to be quite fitting for them. They played like they really mean it. Which is quite rare these days. Every cliche and cheap parlor trick in the book. Not because they needed it, but because they absolutely could get away with it. For some reason it all came together as one of the most memorable live shows I've ever seen.

The phrase "feet don't fail me now" occurs in a few songs on this album, and perversely perhaps reminds me of old Tom & Jerry cartoons :o)
There's something about this song that reminds me of Robbie Williams I just can't get over it.
I find the guitar sound quite catchy.

Well, I'll need to pick up this CD. Thanks a lot Bill!  I don't know whether to add or remove that cost to my next RP contribution?  Argh!!!  I'm loving this one more and more.
Such a generic sound. (5)
I hope the Metrics have more to offer.........

yep - great sound - she has a delicious smoky sounding voice - like an Islay malt.

Might be one of my favorite new bands (new to me anyway).

Lou Reed contributed vocals to the track "The Wanderlust" on Metric's 2012 album Synthetica.

Great album from start to finish. {#Dancingbanana_2}
Somewhere, the Heart Throbs are smiling...
The sound of morse code is more melodic and interesting than the last Coldplay tune...this is actually dynamic and melodic. Thanks for the breath of fresh air...RP!!! The mechanical drums are a bit disappointing...but I suppose it fits the type of tune.
They played the Arlington Theater in Santa Barbara about 3 weeks ago. They were just awesome!

Was Metric or Ladytron first? Both are fine!

Emily is pretty versatile !

Generally I don't like this CD nearly as much as their last one. This song, however, is fantastic.

Yes! Though her voice and the chorus sets it apart from a Muse song.

I've had this song on repeat for days... That's how much I like it. And the beginning is the best part of all {#Good-vibes}
yes same here, had also the idea muse song was coming.but like this one though would never buy it

to me it sounds like if there were 2 songs mixed over each other.. strange.. :-)
I think I heard this in 1982. Feels very Olivia Newton John-ish.

This entire new release from them is really superb...seek it out.
Wow!  First time I have ever heard of this group.  The song really makes me feel good.  Let's hear more.
I previewed the sample tracks and thought it sounded good, so I bought it — but listening to the whole album, I'm not really liking it yet.  Not connecting with ANY of the tracks.  {#Sad}  It seems to be missing some of the magic "Fantasies" still holds for me (maybe it is over produced, as stated below).  I'll give it a few more spins — may just end up dumping & picking up their older releases instead.
I'd like to hear more of their songs too.
I bought this album and like this song but please play something else from Synthetica instead of playing this every day.
Love Metric!! {#Dancingbanana}
Probably their most solid track from the new album, but I'm honestly not as impressed with this latest release overall.

Ah well, my favorite Metric song was always "Down" from their Static Anonymity EP.
Not as big of a fan of this as Fantasies, but this is certainly one of my favorite tracks off of it. Most of the album seems a little overproduced, but this one still hits my magic happy spot :)
New Metric!
This caught my ear....love Emily Haines voice.
