Oh, she may be weary
Young girls they do get weary
Wearing that same old shaggy dress, yeah yeah
But when she gets weary
Try a little tenderness, yeah yeah
You know she's waiting
Just anticipating
For things that she'll never, never, never, never possess, yeah yeah
But while she's there waiting, without them
Try a little tenderness (that's all you gotta do)
It's not just sentimental, no, no, no
She has her grief and care, yeah yeah yeah
But the soft words, they are spoke so gentle, yeah
It makes it easier, easier to bear, yeah
You won't regret it, no, no
Some girls they don't forget it
Love is their only happiness, yeah
But it's all so easy
All you gotta do is try, try a little tenderness, yeah
All you gotta do is, man, hold her where you want her
Squeeze her, don't tease her, never leave her
Get to her, try, try
Just try a little tenderness, ooh yeah yeah yeah
You got to know how to love her, man, you'll be surprised, man
You've got to squeeze her, don't tease her, never leave
You've got to hold her and rub her softly
Try a little tenderness, ooh yeah yeah yeah
You've got to rub her gentle man, all you gotta do, no no
You've got to love her, squeeze her, don't tease her
Gotta try nah nah nah, try
Try a little tenderness, yeah, watch her groove
You've gotta to know what to do, man
Take this advice

This is so weird. Bull Durham was on last night.
If you know the movie, you know what I'm talking about.

Such Commitment!
I Tried to give an 11, but it didnĀ“t work. So this is a 10 for this great cover track that made the song his own!

Uh. I already rated this - a 9- and I'll stand on this. With that title. I was expected something else, but here I am, happy.
Mozart's a tough act to follow but put the Monterey version up here and I'll give it a "10". Of all I've heard, only he and Janis Joplin put everything they had into their performances. He was a force of nature in that performance.
"I got to go now and I don't wanna go."
"I got to go now and I don't wanna go."

50 years this week since his passing. Sad, sad...yet we can still experience his amazing performances and voice. Thanks again RP !

Brilliant song. One of the greatest soul+ singers ever. I still prefer Otis' Live at Monterey performance over this studio version, but still...
well that's exactly what I was gonna say! plus, 1967 was a bit before my time; oh how I wish I was there when this was filmed! and thanks to 1) a sober person at the festival who could film stuff and 2) youtube, etc., being available so us post 60s folk can watch it!
Copy 'n' paste - don;t know why I can't insert a link:

I remember 3 Dog Night doing this song really well
Great Commitments cover
Always have to look and see if it is Paolo Nutini or Otis!

Paul Giamatti did this one pretty well in the movie 'Duets', a silly movie about competitive karoke.
This is a GREAT song .. and it being featured in "Pretty In Pink" always makes me smile.

My favorite song from the best soul vocalist of his generation. Sorry Marvin.
