I don't always like Beck, but I am amazed at the diversity in his music. I can't think of another artist who is quite as diverse.

You got a bit of flack for this, but in a way you are quite correct. Beck *is* derivative. Everything he does sounds like something that came before. Sometimes it's not even subtle. The stunning thing, to me at least, is the sheer breadth of his font of derivation. He pulls from fuckin everything!

A lovely album, it rewards with more listening. Wish I had even a poofteenth of his talent.
There's some real talent here. 
I like it when just about anybody adds a little twang to his music... even Beck.
