Oh! Let's go!

Steve walks warily down the street
With the brim pulled way down low.
Ain't no sound but the sound of his feet,
Machine guns ready to go.

Are you ready, hey, are you ready for this?
Are you hanging on the edge of your seat?
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
To the sound of the beat

Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone, and another one gone
Another one bites the dust
Hey, I'm gonna get you, too
Another one bites the dust

How do you think I'm going to get along
Without you when you're gone?
You took me for everything that I had
And kicked me out on my own

Are you happy, are you satisfied?
How long can you stand the heat?
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
To the sound of the beat

[Chorus]

Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust

There are plenty of ways that you can hurt a man
And bring him to the ground
You can beat him, you can cheat him
You can treat him bad and leave him when he's down

But I'm ready, yes, I'm ready for you
I'm standing on my own two feet
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
Repeating to the sound of the beat

[Chorus]

Is it me, or are there early shades of the Michael Jackson sound in this?  It is well known that Freddie and Michael collaborated a lot.  I'd like to think that Billie Jean, as well of some of Michael's signature yelps and hiccups, were partly inspired by Mercury's performance here.

Please don't take me too seriously, I just think it would be a good story for everyone to tell and maybe get a laugh out of my kids one last time.

There was actually a commercial like this in the 2000s from AIWA, where you hear two guys dressed up groovin' to this song.  They turn up the radio and everyone is staring as they drive past.  You imagine it's because they're awed and impressed by the stereo, but when the camera zooms out you see they're driving a hearse.

I always loved listening to this album on my dad's stereo cranking it up at high as I could with headphones or his big cabinet speakers!
When they were ON the BEAT, and had the knobs turned up to Eleven, they were truly bad-assed and maybe even became the biggest force in Music there for a while... I can still feel blown away, every time, even now...but when they were fresh? There was really nothing else quite like them, and we were totally and gladly under their Magic SPELL!

Is it just me, or are there a lot of lizards around here?

Yes there are, and only one of us is king 😉

I used to be able to set the high score on Space Invaders to 9990. Takes a bunch of quarters to get to that skill level.

Oct. 1, 2017. Agreed.
I'll never be able to hear this without thinking of Weird Al.

another one swipes the rust
Those weird synthesizer noises with a long rampup are actually random piano notes run backwards through the tape machine.  Finally figured this out playing one of those YouTube videos where they play this song backwards.
sounds as awful now as it did then. did they actually think this was "funky"? bad radio overplay memories too. this crap was hard to escape back then
Thier greatest hit, and written by the base player, John Deacon.
I can never forget playing PacMan with a good and stoney beer buzz on, this song rattling the walls and staying in our brains for too long.
Queen had its virtues. This however is another one that sucks and bites
probably not a good song name this year

Nope.  This is one I've heard just too many times.

Only those old enough to have played Space Invaders in arcades will appreciare thus song.

That would be amazing, unfortunately, both are too slow for proper CPR procedures. :(

Is the target for CPR not 100 compressions per minute? Are these songs not approximately 100 beats per minute? How is it too slow? Please explain if you ever see this. :)
great bass line

It all depends on whether you are a realist with a gallows sense of humor , or an optimistic dreamer.  (ie. CPR is only effective in 12% of cases outside of hospitals.)

Lemme guess - right after Nov 3rd? Come Jan 19th, would be hilarious to drive Imortan Joe's Doof Wagon up Penn Ave and play Lilly Allen's fuck-you song at 500 MegaBell, LOL
Another one rides the bus.

Catchy song.  I'd probably like it 50% more if I heard it 90% less.

Just go with the bass line and dance - so much crap music at weddings, at least this one is dance-worthy!

One of the many great contributions by John Deacon. He was Queen's George Harrison.

Funny, and true!  One of my coworkers (at an Electric Utility with about 80% of us CPR trained) saved a life by using CPR and he said, in that moment, as he's busting the heart attack victim's ribs, he was FOR SURE keeping time to "Stayin' Alive."  And it worked!

My guess is you leave before the "Fun" begins!!

LOL! My wife and I watched "Bohemian Rhapsody" just last night via Netflix DVD. Music brought back a lot of memories of an amazing period of time for music.
Sorry guys, I really can't stand this song.
I will always love that this song is the perfect tempo to perform CPR to.

This always sucked. I did however hear the Freddy Mercury movie was worth seeing
Sounds like a Sam Peckinpah movie.

Right?  And pretty soon maybe we'll be able to sing this one in a political fashion!  As for the song comment, I gotta say this is one of the most danceable tunes there can be...it's a 9+1 cuz my wife LOVES it...so it's a 10!  Long Live RP!!
fun song!  great memories from my youth!
Not their best, but I'll always listen to Queen.
Iconic bass line.
kind of awful and great at the same time.

I thought Freddie was a superlative showman.  Sadly missed.  We won't see his like again, I fear.

Solid 8 for me.

At the engineering university I attended this song would be blaring from the dorm halls as us wee freshmen headed out to our first Chemistry 101 exam - the first big "weeder" exam for the biggest freshmen "weeder" class.  Hearing it a couple decades later still brings back memories of that cold grey fall day trudging off through the drizzling rain to find out if I had any future as an engineer. I stepped out onto campus with the sounds of "Another One Bites The Dust" fading behind me only to be presented with some joker playing "Taps" from nearby hill. I couldn't help but laugh.
I just watched Bohemian Rhapsody last night and it does give you the chills when you first hear this baseline... even though you know exactly what's going on in the movie. .. but it took me back to when I first heard this at all... live in concert, stage was completely dark and all you could hear was that bass echoing off the walls like a cathedral... four to six months before it was ever released as a single and became waaaaay over played . . but certainly glad to hear it here...👏

It's interesting to see Bill & Rebecca going back thru this catalog and seeing what they come up with.

I'd rather hear this than most queen, they play 39 sometimes, but Keep Yourself Alive used to get some plays too. That one or Tie Your Mother Down are good for clearing the cobwebs...

I'd love to hear this followed by Weird Al's "Another One Rides The Bus".  That would be a fun segue...

Never thought RP would stoop so low as to play this turd, PSD time!
Guilty pleasure....
