Taking my time
Choosin' my line
Tryin' to decide what to do
Looks like my stop
Don't wanna get off
Got myself hung up on you

Seems to me
You don't want to talk about it
Seems to me
You just turn your pretty head and walk away

Places I've known
Things that I'm growin'
Don't taste the same without you
I got myself in
The worst mess I've been
And I find myself startin' ta doubt you

Seems to me
Talk all night, here comes the mornin'
Seems to me
You just forget what we said
And greet the day

Seems to me
You don't wanna talk about it
Seems to me
You just turn your pretty head and walk away

I've got ta cool myself down
Stompin' around
Thinkin' some words I can't name ya
Meet ya half way
Got nothin' to say
Still I don't s'pose I can blame ya

Seems to me
You don't want to talk about it
Seems to me
You just turn your pretty head and walk away

Walk away

Great tune. I saw Joe Walsh live in a tiny club once. He was so drunk he could barely stand up, much less play. It was still entertaining in a dark comedy sort of way. We amused ourselves by trying to guess which song he was attempting to play.
The upside was that the opener, Danny Gatton (the now late Danny Gatton) was f*cking great.

A shame that Joe was so gone. But Danny Gatton was brilliant.
Still today I always think its the Eagles when I hear this. No doubt because of Joe Walsh
i love this so much.

always wondered if it was about stevie nicks. but they got together way, way after 1971.

Hilarious GIF! Thank you!
Tasty bass.
Dale Peters lived next to my Uncle in Cleveland. He helpfully pointed me to a Leon Russell concert at the stadium the day I met him. A very nice guy.

The James Gang's second album was a great mix of folk and hard rock. Third album also pretty darn good. Regrettable that Joe Walsh chose to leave the group to pursue his solo career - and then jump to the Eagles. But, I'm sure he made  a lot of money.
51 year old song SO much better than anything “rock” put out today.  What happened?  Did y’all see this rock wasteland coming?   Thought early 90s alt rock was going to pull us back but apparently not the case.

Laughably wrong, but thanks for trying.

I LOVE THIS!!!
Nice to see the lyrics. I grew up loving this song but could never figure them all out just from listening on the radio.
Instead of "Looks like my stop/Don't wanna get off"
I heard "Looks like my sock/don't wanna get on"
Arguably more fitting.
play me again... play me again... play me again
good tunage... however, takes me back to days I'd rather forget/no longer be aware of...
can't say I'm a fan of Walsh's solo stuff, but James Gang and Eagles rock!

You should read what his musical peers have written about him.
James Gang Bang. Not subtle but neither were the times. This was simply a great club tune for cover bands.

Excellent suggestion.  And James Gang "Thirds" was a superb album.
Saw the J Gang in Jersey (Roosevelt Stadium?) in the mid-70s with Johnny Winter and Alice Cooper. Suzy Quatro was supposed to be on the bill too but it got rained out the first day and she didn't show up to play the next day. What an incongruous line-up! Smiling again just thinking about it.

And I'm thinking they were from DEEtroit.  Sorry, calypsus_1, but they certainly weren't from the big ATL.

Kent, Ohio originally unclehud.  Not too terribly far from Detroit, but still a 3 1/2 hour trip.

I always thought that Joe Walsh was solo when he sang this.  Live and learn, I guess.

... what Kenny G is to pseudo-jazz.  And Joe Walsh doesn't get the credit he deserves for forty years of guitar-ripping.
Joe's guitar is obviously a big deal, and I love it. But, for the James Gang, the thing that impresses me the most is the bass groove: in a trio, that bass has more to do. And while this bass line isn't as melodic as the one in, say, Funk #49, it's just absolutely perfect here.

Similar story here.  My Malibu was a four door though avec excellent bench seat so the girlfriend could slide over.
Going to hit the next button heard s this too much on the radio

Not sure if "Joe is guitar" though he can play the hell out of it!  In fact, immediately recognizable, and rating starts at 8, Long Live RP!!
Whenever I hear this I think, damn it could have been Meadows...
Toadies owe Joe some royalties ...

{#Yes}That's right and those that say it is still a good song, blah, blah, blah. We do not argue that it is not a good song, it is just human nature that constant repitition takes away enjoyment. I don't know why people have so much trouble with that obvious concept.{#Stupid}

thanks, I needed this right now.
This one took me way back to a place my folks rented over the summer and the only rock n'roll in the house was an 8-track tape: James Gang Rides Again.  We played that thing to death. Good memories.
I have heared this before!!
back in the day..............heard this group more times than I can count............... memories.

Love this song and Funk49. Brings me back to my college days. {#Dancingbanana_2}
their most commercial song and probably my least favorite

Read Don Felder's tell all autobiography Heaven and Hell. The subject matter is in the book. Bottom line of his view was this; Joe, Timothy B., Bernie,Randy M. great guys. Glen Frey, big ass-hole, Don Henley, a talented big ass-hole.

Kent State, 1969, see the James Gang for a buck.

This always makes me think of my late cousin Phillip. I remember hearing it for the first time in his living room in Lodi, California. Couldn't get enough!

Rest in Peace, Phillip.

Ole Joe .. he is quite a character — as in a really likable gentleman — when not in the stage persona.  For the Hams, he is WB6ACU; sends code with a Blue Racer Vibroplex about 30wpm.

He's also a ham radio operator. He collects classic Collins Radio equipment.

Yes, one of the great musical groups out of Cleveland (hence Joe Walsh's cameo on the Drew Carey show).  Others include the Raspberries, Brownsville Station, Henry Mancini, and of course the greatest symphony orchestra ever (CSO under George Szell).

Would really love to hear "Midnight Man".

To bad it got the boot from Rebecca. {#Cry}

Oh wow! {#Guitarist} I used to listen to this song all the time!
Oh, how I wish that Joe Walsh had chosen 2008 to run for president!  Now THAT would be great!

:-)
Alas, I don't care what anyone says.  You people need to listen to the first 3 releases by the James Gang - then give me your conclusions on the excellent songs and specifically, guitar work of Mr. Walsh.
Stunning music that never gets enough credit. {#Yes}

The first three James Gang CDs feature Joe Walsh's guitar talents. A couple of the later ones (Bang and Miami) feature the talent's of Iowa's own Tommy Bolin, who also rocked with Deep Purple for a brief time.

I always stop and listen to this track, especially for the guitar solo at the end.
