I've been workin'
I've been workin' so hard

I've been workin'
I've been workin' so hard

I come home
I'll make-a love to you
I'll make-a love to you

I've been grindin'
I've been grindin' so long

I've been grindin'
I've been grindin' so long

Been up the thruway, down the thruway
Up the thruway, down the thruway
Up, down, back and up again

And I said
Woman, woman, woman, woman
Woman, woman, woman, woman
Make me feel so good

Woman, woman, woman, woman
Woman, woman, woman, woman
Make me feel alright

You're alright, alright, alright
Alright, alright, alright, alright, alright

You're alright, alright, alright
Alright, alright, alright, alright, alright

Mmm-mm-mm-mmm

[Instrumental and sax solo]

And I said
Woman, woman, woman, woman
Woman, woman, woman, woman
Make me feel so good

Woman, woman, woman, woman
Woman, woman, woman, woman
Make me feel alright

You're alright
Alright, alright, alright, alright
Alright, alright, alright

You're alright
Alright, alright, alright, alright
Alright, alright, alright, alright

Make me feel so good

Set my soul on fire

Set my soul on fire

Ooo-wee

[Fades]
Mmm-hmm-mm.

C'mon now, this is a great song and all, but it's nowhere in the same zip code as JB's funkiness.

Really, not even in the same solar sytem.  The band has a good funk groove going on though not quite as tight as The Fabulous Flames and Van's vocal stylings cannot compare to those of The Godfather.  Good tune, though.

TRUE!  would love some "Popcorn" right now : )
This ' music' is why Punk exploded for my generation.

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one to think that that that…

That makes two only. Never dis the Van, please. Catch that sax!
I read on Wikipedia that in 1966 when Van Morrison was the lead singer of the band "Them" they had a short-lived residency at the Whiskey a Go Go in Los Angeles and their support act for the last week was... the Doors.

The article went on to say... "On the final night, the two Morrisons and the two bands jammed together on "Gloria".

I would have given anything to be there that night!

followed by JB could be way appropriate  : )

I'm only familiar with the live version of this. Both versions are great.
Bill, I worry when you talk over the beginning of a song. Especially one as good as this one.
Think about this. In just a few years, this guy puts out this album and Astral Weeks, Veedon Fleece, Hard Nose the Highway, Tupelo Honey, and St. Dominics Preview.

My god! The guy has one hell of a hot streak!
Sir Van, you'll do me!

Indeed, Veedon Fleece is excellent.

Yeah, one of his best. Beautiful and multi-dimensional.
He will be playing here in Ottawa at city folk.ca festival. Line up features lots of Radio Paradise artists.

I was on a long (8.5 hour) ride today and heard this twice on the player. Too much already.

Van honed his vocal style early on and never wavered.

Why would he waver from perfection?
That's John Klingberg on bass pushin' the red zone on the Funk-O-Meter.

Yeah, but at least you aren't on a chain gang.
Alright, alright, alright, alright, alright, alright, alright ... like the man said.
Bob Segar does a nice version of this on Live Bullet.
Van the Man!

Isle blues at its best.
Actually, it doesn't affect me.

I have that album and yes I can testify that it is very good! Early Van beats later Van by a long shot, although he still comes up with a gem now and then.

Great Van song from one his great periods. Love those horns and Jack Schroer alto sax. But the version of the song from Van's 1974's live album "It's Too Late to Stop Now" is THE version of this tune!
Absolutely agree - that's his first, and probably his best-ever live collection. Although I'm partial to the Live in Belfast set as well... still have it only on LP, though. "Rave on John Donne" is so great on that one...
Hey I am the only 2 vote!
Chef?
His Band sure is good!
This is great! I know this song from Bob Seeger's "Live Bullet" (a most excellent album, he gives credit to Van for the song)... hadnt' heard Van's version until now.
The Playlist is now REACTIVATED, you may commence commented into the proper song now. Thank you.
Rare for RP by the looks of it...
Great song. This version is from Philosopher Stone.
