Good! But, not his best tune. Thanx RP!

All my adult life I've been told to appreciate Sonny Landreth as a guitar genius and great songwriter. I grew up in South Louisiana, and think I could drag a net down any major street there and come up with a comparable or better player.
Consider yourself lucky. I have heard of Sonny Landreth but never actually heard him. I thank RP, again, for the exposure.

yeah, what you said, plus a hint of watered-down zz top riff in the beginning and overall Bryan Adams/Huey Lewis kind of feel.
It's musical Frankenstein, and it's on the loose.
i give this song 3 chunkys

That's what I don't like about it! I just couldn't put it into words. Thanks.
A little too twangy, rhinestone-crusted shirt infused country for my taste.

interesting! probably because i grew up with completely different music? i do appreciate RP playing different regional stuff every now and again, even if it isn't always brilliant in musical terms.
I agree, I don't see what's not to like.

Some nice slide work. Other than that, pretty much blows.

This is kind of fun. Reminds me a bit of Georgia Satellites. I liked the guitar sound.
this probably doesn't bug other people, but the slide in this song is pretty tasty but imho is way too over-compressed (in audio terms)
The wind tonight ain't all that cries
Leaves like tears fall outside
She knows I'm blowing with the season change
Looking at me and I hear her say:
Lay, chèr, just a little bit longer
You'll be gone so long out West
Stay, chèr, just a little bit longer
Do pass back to Bayou Teche
The wheel I turn ain't all that moans
Crossing this levee road alone
The gravel I bust and the dust I breathe
Won't shake her haunting words to me:
Lay, chèr, just a little bit longer
You'll be gone so long out West
Stay, chèr, just a little bit longer
Do pass back to Bayou Teche
The road I'm on ain't all that bends
My will is breaking down again
The Gulf of Mexico to Monterey Bay
Till I turn myself around I'm gonna hear her say:
Lay, chèr, just a little bit longer
You'll be gone so long out West
Stay, chèr, just a little bit longer
Do pass back to Bayou Teche
Lay, chèr, just a little bit longer
You'll be gone so long out West
Stay, chèr, just a little bit longer
And do pass back to Bayou Teche
