We are the stars which sing
We sing with our light
We are the birds of fire
We fly over the sky
Our light is a voice
We make a road for the spirit to pass over
For the spirit to pass over
We are like the wind
Wrapped in lumious wings
We make a road for the spirit to pass over
For the spirit of pass over
Outò, ba mwen son ou, e
Outò, ba mwen son ou, e
Tanbouyè, o ba mwen son ou
Solèy lève
Outò, give me your sound
Outò, give me your sound
Drummer, give me your sound
The sun rises
We sing with our light
We are the birds of fire
We fly over the sky
Our light is a voice
We make a road for the spirit to pass over
For the spirit to pass over
We are like the wind
Wrapped in lumious wings

This station (global) is my happy place. Much Gratitude. 🙏 What is the instrument that sounds like heavy breathing?
Mesmerizing

Seriously, what language are they singing in?

LOL, you clearly don’t know DCD. They don’t use many, if any, real words. They make up “words” so that their voices are really more like instruments.

Thanks cliffsmith!
An awesome piece that flawlessly and seamlessly blends so many different styles.

Oooh wow! This really gets me in the best way. I must confess that I am an unrepentant DCD fan, and unlike Fred, I do like their tribal stuff ... a lot. DCD's music appeared on a video, not a DVD but tape, that included their tribal stuff like this dubbed over some really incredible aerial video footage and some awesome African tribal dancing. I never did find out the name of that tape or a source for it, but it was an awesome vis-aural experience.

Best memory of this song: Hiking out of the Grand Canyon in 2008. I put this song on repeat and let it set my uphill pace. Freaking incredible. Must have played 12 times before I got to the snowline and back to the rim. Also had it on my marathon playlist but that is another story....
I find them way, waaay more interesting than Jim Morrison (ducks thrown object.)
I want more Dead Can Dance songs on Radio Paradise! Anyway this is not their best album. Spleen and Ideal is probably the Dead Can Dance masterpiece
Pretty bad but - You can do even worse by playing some bottom shelf reggae next.
.
Theme music for a human sacrifice?

Can get over the feeling that this lot are a Jim Morrison tribute band.

Sounds like Jim Morrison walked into the Rain Forest Café.
Seriously. This song is perfect here in the South Carolina rain storm we're having now. Serendipity.
Recently got a video of them playing at Coachella a couple of years ago - INCREDIBLE! There was a storm coming - wind and rain kicking up - and it was evening - M-A-G-I-C-A-L! The Gods were present with them that evening for sure.....

Exactly right. If Jim Morrison had been channeling the ghost of future past of Youssou N'Dour and Lady Smith Black Mambazo.
I think you may be genre-confused.

Oh thank you for this RP! I do wish they were still playing together...simply incredible live.

I like this. Very rhythmically interesting.

Haunting!
this is terrible. 3.
I enjoyed it and never had this. I also like peter gabriels african oriented music.
I'm a big DCD fan, going back to their first album Spleen and Ideal in the mid-80s, but IMO this album was a turkey and gave too much vocal time to Brendan Perry and too little to Lisa Gerrard. I loved the Gothic/medieval stuff, but just could not get into this native American (and Australian?) stuff. Maybe it's just my narrow cultural upbringing :(
For all that, any DCD work is usually of high quality and worth listening to, and one day I'll re-buy this one (the last went to a charity shop), but it compares poorly to their prior work, IMO, and to Lisa Gerrard's work after DCD bit the dust.

roughly 2,500 minutes too long for me...
EXCELLENT - great tune, nice to hear some "new" DCD on RP! Although I see it was originally played years ago - just not played very often - glad it's cued up again.
Brings back sweet magical memories of my Native American phase.... Havent heard this jam in quite awhile...
I like the little bird trill. Not enough of that for me.
Please stop. Even 200 minutes in would be better than not!
Very interesting. I dig this.

Me too! I was hoping for Holidays in Cambodia but this is nice too.

I could hardly believe this was DCD. Always unusual, they are. This is Serengeti day at RP.....

You GO Freebish! Open up those redneck ears! (I like to do that, too!)
It's back and it wont leave...
Hey! Did these guys get permission from Mr. Robertson first?
A 6.

After 14 minutes I had heard enough...
Anything by DCD is worth listening to. Reading the comments below, it seems that some would be more happy with RP being Classic Online Radio rather than Eclectic Online Radio.
A note to such: EXPAND! Contraction is not good for the soul, nor one's health.
I heard this in a Tarzan movie a long,loooooonnnnnnggggg time ago. 5
Ghosts crowd the young child's fragile egg shell mind.
I guess we think we're Morrison. Yeah Right
Feh.
i've always loved this track -- thought it would be just perfect to listen to while driving across country ... imagine driving along interstate 40, through the painted desert with this and the sage-brush wind filling the air...
...until it put me into such a trance i nearly wrecked the car.
a word to the wise. great music, but not driving music.

I'm not a DCD fan (I've always felt they were mood music for the smug Berkeley NPR leftie crowd), but this is a much more interesting track than just about anything else I've heard. I gave it a 7.

He almost ruins it for me, too. I know what you mean. I always thought he sounded like Frank Sinatra. Not the right sound for the genre. I still love DCD, though.
haven\'t heard this tune years, it was awesome to hear it again, now I regret giving up the
CD.. good choice!
ok he can dance, but dead can\'t sing too good so he talks. the owl\'s not bad tho\', must be hard to play that didgeridoo with a beak.
Blah. Way too long.

Maybe they can dance but they sure can\'t sing! :p
I\'m a big dcd fan and I can honestly say I adore this song. It was a great surprise to hear.
Parts of it are interesting, but it\'s just to long and not dynamic enough for my tastes.
I thought this was native american music. What an interesting blend of drum and chant.
Love it. :)
All D.C.D all the time would not be such a bad thing. I love just about everything this group has done. This isn\'t their best, but I can forgive. :)
This thing is like a movie. Sequences that are just awful and others that are enjoyable. I can appreciate the intent and effort but overall, "thumbs down". Sorry. Maybe if I were stoned but haven't done that in many many years.
Hmmmm... Still playing, eh.
Loved "W/in the Realm of Dying Sun" and perhaps wouldn't have pounded this song but it comes at the end (hopefully) of an Indian set that is about to drive me nuts. :)
Time for a bathroom break.
