On the day the bailiffs came
Took the keys away, took their home away
And honestly, they feel the shame
They couldn't foresee it, they couldn't believe it
And in the hills, looked over fields
It's such a secret, and who would believe it
It's a great day for the valleys
It's a great day for them all
She takes her time, sings all alone
No-one believed her
She made the tea, left all the keys
She's such a seeker, and no-one believed her
It's a great day for the valleys
It's a great day for them all
It's a great day, it's a new day
For them all
Took the keys away, took their home away
And honestly, they feel the shame
They couldn't foresee it, they couldn't believe it
And in the hills, looked over fields
It's such a secret, and who would believe it
It's a great day for the valleys
It's a great day for them all
She takes her time, sings all alone
No-one believed her
She made the tea, left all the keys
She's such a seeker, and no-one believed her
It's a great day for the valleys
It's a great day for them all
It's a great day, it's a new day
For them all

This is the first time I've heard this track. It must not be on the European edition? Doves are an aweseome band, but they aren't very good in concert.
What?! I saw them play at the Vic in Chicago last year and they were fantastic. Beg. To. Differ.
I hope that Wilson gets a writer's credit. I've not heard that blatant a rip-off since Bittersweet Symphony.

Yeah, that's a direct "Heroes and Villians" rip....but done quite well, I must say...
I tried uploading this Doves tune recently from a pretty awesome Doves 2-CD collection called "Lost Sides" released in 2003 (and now I see it was already in the RP collection). The first disc is composed of mostly B-sides which never made it to their standard CD releases, and the second disc are remixes of great tunes like "Words", "N.Y.", and "M62 Song" (the latter of which is currently playing on the LRC channel), which are really very different versions for the most part. If you go looking for it, there is also a single-disc version out there, so be sure you're getting the two-disc set (12 tracks on the first, 7 on the second) if you want the more comprehensive version.
Great song, great album
I like Doves a lot, but this is annoying. Very flat singing ...

isn't this the theme on Brian Wilson's Smile?

I'd say this is one of the weaker tracks from Lost Souls.
Which still means it's pretty good. :)

bonus tracks to the cd. there are two others as well on my copy.
This song reminds me of something, but I can't think what... Sleater-Kinney? Mebbe?
Anyway, happy Monday... Eels Souljacker and then the Doves... good stuff.

Well, there might be a message in this song. But it SOUNDS like whining in harmony.....where's the excedrin?
isn't this the theme on Brian Wilson's Smile?
