rock band noted for their extended jam sessions and musical improvisation. Formed at the University of Vermont in 1983, the band's four members performed together for the better part of 21 years until their breakup in August 2004. Their music had elements of a wide variety of genres including, but not limited to, rock, jazz, and funk sounds. Each of their concerts was original in terms of the songs performed, the order in which they appeared, and the way in which they were performed.

Why I love them - Phish will forever be one of my favorite bands because of their ability to involve you in the song. Each song has it's own unique individuality. They are masters of the "jam" which is the point in the song of complete improvisation and free flowing instrumental. Being involved in an intense jam can take you to the level of orgasm. wnick87

I love it when Phish actually plays songs instead of that damn jam shi'te (yes, I am not a Dead fan either). They actually can play very pretty little indie pop songs when they put their mind to it, I like it!{#Bananapiano}

Nothing against Phish, but guys; when Alison Krauss is at the microphone just back away and let her sing the whole dam song. If you invite Wolfgang Puck over to cook dinner, why would you putter around in the kitchen and get in his way?

With you on that one, it really demonstrates the depth of their musicianship. And if you take the Dead/Phish parallel, Allison Krause beats the usually squalling Donna Godchaux 100%.

Diane, I have never really been able to convey how I feel about Phish, but you have really summed it up!! There are a few Phish songs that I enjoy (such as "Bouncin' Round the Room"), but other than that, it is hard to pay attention to their music because it is so bland. I have forced myself to listen to them (like an entire live album) in an effort to "get them" but I just don't. So, I agree -- I don't dislike them, but I just don't like them.

wonderful duet, just love phish, great sound, great music. alot of people just don't get what phish is all about. Their music is incredibly intricate, yet sounding straightforward. Trey is a genius!

This is a great composition. It's a precursor to the matured material that would appear later on 'Billy Breathes'. Allison Krause's voice is a nice addition to the mix too.

Phish is an acquired taste a la Grateful Dead. This is one of their shorter and more 'practical' songs. I love Phish and always will and am always happy to hear any of their work on RP. Thanks.
