(Here they come, here they come
Here they come and they might as well
Too many birds in my confusion now
Now they'll circle over this house till we take them in)

You show me a sign to rise up from the world we know
And she's strung out on life
He soon rolls his teeth
Spilling out from a mouth fit to overflow
Back into me

She moves and it's fire
fire underwater
Speaks of its flame
she speaks my name
Well they all really want you
If only you had wanted them
Lights move in the chalk lines
Chains that define who I am
Here we are again
how could I have seen?
Always she's driving
how could I have known?
Right through the strangest calling
I should have known
Straight through the sound
gramarye, I've found
See how she's driving me down

Straight from the sound
She's seen as a bright sun to anyone
Hollow and mined
With the weight of the world
Trailing out till the last train
Discovers me
Alive on Vine

She moves and it's fire
fire underwater
Speaks of its flame
she speaks my name
As you move in a chalk line
Change in the dream that I am
Here we are the same

I used to see something in the idea
But only once did my hands reach
Anything beautiful
Now she's turned away
And I...

We move in it's fire
show me a sign
fire underwater
Speaking its flame
it speaks my name
She proves
soon roll its teeth
the liar
On every one of them
we are the same
Lights move in a chalk line
Change in the fire who I am
Here we are again
How could I have seen?
always she's driving
How could I have known?
right through the strangest calling
Straight through the sound,
Gramarye, I have found,
See how she's driving me
Always she's driving
Back through the strangest calling
Straight through the sound
Gramarye, I found
See how she's driving me down

Slipped through the cracks. Never heard these guys. Pretty good indeed.
I remember first hearing Remy Zero on RP ... like YEARS ago!!

They went on my .mp3 playlist almost immediately.

Really dig their sound.

Thanks, William!! Wow!! What a great gift!!
love this…
Didn’t know remy zero did anything besides the smallville song. I like this. :)
The Dirtbombs - Party Store (2011)
seems that they liked the cover ...

Haven't heard this in ages, nice pull.
What!!
BillG just trotted this track out after a Wailin' Jennys track, again!

Wierd and wonderful. :-)

 LONG LIVE RP!!

1st - if I post a comment with an 'ick' in it, does that mean @ick will reply to it?

2nd - today, BillG trotted this track out after a Wailin' Jennys track, so maybe he's on board with the description by way of his segue?

3rd - LONG LIVE RP!!

The best album from a deeply underrated band. If you’re on the fence, definitely give it a chance.
Dangit, how many times am I going to be surprised to realize this ISN'T VAST. {#Lol}

Thanks for that Belinder,  I read the description of it and although I know nothing about Los Angeles it did make me nostalgic to read the memories of people who lived there from the 1960's.

I hear shades of Alice and Chains.  Very excellent!

he has done the song " somebody save me" from the show Smallville. First time I hear something else from him and I'm positively surprised :)
Nice song.  Never heard of Remy Zero before.  Good stuff.
This is awesome.
Much more Rock and Roll than I usually expect from RP!

 Like it a lot!
It has an underlying complexity that I like.
This works on many levels, great song, thanks for the turn-on.

Great tune. Totally forgot about this one. Thanks RP!
I just don't get this kind of music choice at all, especially on the heels of 'Let it Be'.
Nice segue from RadioHead/Codex

Prefer Aston Martin.
I prefer Remy  Martin.

Reminds me of Nik Kershaw.
forgotten about this, re rated it
dark and intricate... never heard remy like this before. i like.
this is outstanding. had never heard of these guys until RP. a blessing.
{#Beat}   Put down the pipe, dude.  Amazing record, powerful song with great vocal arrangements.

I thought it was going to be Mott the Hoople at the opening, from the voice.
'Marionette' would be a good follow up to this.

Ahhhh... like heroin.  Wait, I've never done heroin.
absolutely LOVE this song!
This is an outstanding album... beginning to end.
Hells yeah, again!
I'm getting visions of Ozzy Osborne singing the backup. That would give it a little more bite.
This band is one of my all-time favorites - Villa Elaine was genius, and this is one of their greatest songs. I really wish they were still around... The drummer died of cystic fibrosis just a few weeks ago. https://www.spinner.com/2010/01/02/remy-zero-drummer-gregory-slay-dies/

I am happy that a track like this continues to pop up, decades later. Sticking power counts.
Here's the Boy George song again....
I remember this from the Stigmata soundtrack.  Cool song.
i like this one

Both Villa Elaine and The Golden Hum are incredibly fantastic and powerful albums. The breakup of Remy Zero was heartbreaking to both me and my daughter (who got me on to them, bless her), although there's word it's possible they may record again. Anyone know?

Zach Braff (from "Scrubs", "Garden State", etc.) is a huge fan and has been trying to talk them into it. I think he was able to get them to play a live set (on KCRW, maybe, but I could be wrong) a few months ago, so maybe that's a good first start.

I effing love this song and I don't know why. Woo!

It's an unspoken rule to find great bands AFTER they've fallen apart so you never get to see them play. :-)
Wow I forgot about this song. I always loved it. Great band. And it does sound like Kent

Okay, fair enough, but you're gonna have to put together a whole team of Larry Walker's to beat an all-U.S. team.
Actually it might be hard to even make an all-U.S. team that's any good. Without any latin players, we'd probably suck pretty bad.

Very Kent - ish..
Like it so far.

yes, I have noticed a little bit of a self-centered egotistical streak in we U.S.-ians (what do we call people from the U.S.? American isn't really correct... any ideas?) btw, really liked the song
To address a few unanswered questions: Yes, he was married to Alyssa Milano. For under a year. No relation to Jerry Remy. Perhaps that was a joke? Baseball humor and me are not exactly PB&J. Remy Zero is actually getting back together. Cinjun (the singer) played a few songs Tuesday night for a benefit concert. I am not sure if it is the original lineup, but it is reforming.

Yes that is a bit odd too!
i remember two things about this: 1) they played 'prophecy' off this album a lot on the radio station i listened to when i lived near jacksonville. 2) wasn't the lead singer married to alyssa milano?

They used the intro to one of my favorite Buzzcocks songs, rating this "ho hum" just for that.

This from a place that doesn't know even what football is?
One of the better tracks found on the Stigmata soundtrack. I love these guys.
Wow, for sure. This song is perhaps a 6 for me right now, but it's so rough after Let It Be...dang. What a contrast. bokey wrote:

This is just a most wonderful piece... of a most wonderful album... This album should be heard in its entierty. Nice.
I think it's quite nice. :)
cool song. dig the lyrics
interesting. too bad they broke up.
I've heard this song plenty of times before here on RP, but tonight it strikes me as being a good pairing with Guster's "Come Downstairs And Say Hello". It has a similar segment in the middle...

British influenced rock from a band now based in LA, originally from (of all places) Birmingham, Alabama. I have 3 of their cd's, this one (Villa Elaine) their first and the one that came after Villa Elaine (I think). All are good.
I whole-heartedly recommend their self titled 1996 release. It's just beautiful!

One of my favorite releases that year. Nice contemporary take on prog rock. Very listenable from the first cut to the last. I actually listened to it so much that I had to take a break from it for a while. I still love this song, despite my overplay of it. If you enjoy this track, I trust you'll enjoy the album.
nice melodic twists in this
The best bit is the echoey piano notes dropped in. Takes it beyond the electric-guitar-pop feeling of much of the rest of it..
I find myself liking these guys despite myself. Or something like that.
I like it!

While I like it, it sounds like one of those computer programs that you add \"influences\" to and it \"composes\" something for you.

Prophecy was the first single off of this, if you wanted to seek that out. More of a rock track than this, but very good.
Hey, I like this. I\'d love to hear at least another song from this cd so I can see if I want to buy it!

Listening to young bands nowaday, is like reading a pop encyclopedia. The right ingredients and skills are all there, often already from the start, but to turn it into something worthy to swallow, is another thing. Mostly, all that knowledge and possibilities get in the way of spontaneity. But this band seems to manage well.
wow, people actually like remy zero now... I heard prophecy a few years back on my local radio station, I like their diverse style, myself.
