Beetlebum, what you done
She's a gun, now what you done, beetlebum
Get nothing done, you beetlebum
Just get numb, now what you done, beetlebum
And when she lets me slip away
She turns me on and all my violence gone
Nothing is wrong, I just slip away and I am gone
Nothing is wrong, she turns me on
I just slip away and I am gone
Beetlebum, because you're young
She's a gun, now what you done, beetlebum
She'll suck your thumb, she'll make you come
'Cause she's your gun, now what you done, beetlebum
And when she lets me slip away
She turns me on and all my violence gone
Nothing is wrong, I just slip away and I am gone
There's nothing wrong, she turns me on
I just slip away and I am
He's on, he's on, he's on it
He's on, he's on, he's on it
He's on, he's on, he's on it
He's on, he's on, he's on it

One of Blur's best for me 👍
Ohhhhh - as a huge Blur/Albarn fan - I love this here.

Blur satisfies an area of my music hunger that no other band really can. They have a tremendously deep and varied catalog, and their latest album is sneakily good. Like other challenging music, latter day Blur often takes a few listens, then it really sinks in deep.

The lyrics are saying "he saw" something, but I swear for awhile I heard "piss off" since its such a high pitch tone of voice.

Ohhh, it's true - Spike Jones and his City Slickers totally warped my mind - that's the first thing I thought of when I heard this song! Glad I'm not alone, although I'm in the minority here... Who else has heard of Spike Jones?
I love Spike Jones. Saw him interviewed once, and he was getting antsy. So he's in his kitchen, right? He picks up a couple of butter knives, the old very round '50s type, and starts "drumming" everything in sight. Cupboard, pots, stovetop, the cat. Turns out he started as a percussionist, and he was showing off. What a musician. And the City Slickers—what a band! Honk! Clank! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeez!

Thanks to hearing this on RP, this song made the cut for my Beatles Were Here (Beatlesque) compilation. This was a very fun and educational research project ... Check it out and tell me what you think: https://sites.google.com/site/tanamusicpicks/home/theme-beatles-were-here

The title makes me think of Doodles Weaver calling a horse race while Spike Jones and the City Slickers play the William Tell Overture. Aaaaaand Beeetlebaaaaum

Never understood what's so great about this one.
what's with the chickens singing back up?
Lazy beatle-esque noodling...the doubled lead vocal for the 'effect' is a bit wearing. This doesn't do it for me.

I don't know what it is about Blur, but I find myself usually almost liking their tunes but somehow something doesn't work for me. Can't quite pinpoint it, but...

Drat. At first I thought this was going to be Me First & The Gimme Gimmes cover of "Me and Julio Down By The Schoolyard".
This is not as good. We need some Gimme Gimmes on here!

Please. Lennon was pretty damn self-indulgent himself. "Bed-in"??
Why is the cover all blurry?...Oh wait, no I see now.

Wrong - the Beatles were a major influence on Kurt - and you can hear it - Nirvana'a melodies are so beautiful - only hiding the pain and anguish of a sad tortured soul - all suicides are "self indulgent" to a degree but don't confuse your use of the term
nice.
forgot about this one. thanks RP
Great tune. Great tune. Great tune.
one of my favourite blur songs
love this!

Yes! I just heard that old stick-in-your-mind horse race version of the overture the other day and thought of this. Beetlebaum the horse was apparently really "Feitlebaum", so no relation.
I don't know why and maybe I'm definetely wrong but...I think that this is the closest blur'song to beatles' spirit....

Long live Britpop!

I'm not sure what that is supposed to mean, but it sounds a bit gross.
I very much like Blur and find the breadth of style and the level of musicianship to be such that it is Blur that is better referenced with the Beatles than Oasis. Interesting because it is Oasis that has labored so hard to manufacture music and hype that has Oasis as the latter day heir to the Fab Four.
Bang! spot on.
Liam should get his teeth knocked out by irate Germans every week.
Not bad, but the problem with trying to do a Beatles thingie is that you can't win. This type of thing always suffers from the comparision with the real thing - sort of like frozen pizza.
It just make me want to crank up the Beatles.
Oh, Bill just did exactly that. Dig that pony! I told ya so!
I love blurs stuff. Sadly the last year or so its gone down hill. Since Graham left.
But this tracks great :)
I cant beleave the Guardian called Blur 13 Too emotional and crap.
I was shocked. I thought it was probebly the best album they ever made. And at the time the best thing going.
Theres just no pleasing some people :)
Nutsy

this whole album is superb. I bought it 6/7 years ago and didn't really like it for a while. But woe does it ever grow on you, it's got such a great mood and feel. great at a party or just to sit and listen to.
and there's no comparrison with oasis, blur is far and away superior and nearly completely different genres
P E R F E C T !!!

Blur!
I'm so in. I kind of peripherally knew their stuff, and then finally bought their best of- It stayed in the CD player in my car for months- Can you play "Low" or "Parklife" or "Tender"?
Thanks.......

Just about to go to bed, but had to listen to this one. It's great at the end with the guitar part.

Kinda sounds like the Beatles mixed with Lenny Kravitz...
From side 5 of the White Album...
First time I\'ve heard this. When it started I didn\'t like it very much, but over the course of the song it has grown on me a lot. I need to hear more Blur.

not bad, but i think they sound more like the kinks not the beatles.

Bollocks! as far as I am concerned. It is Blur that more naturally has earned that distinction - if such a distinction must be made. Blur, especially from the \"Parklife\" and \"Girls and Boys\" era material, has evoked comparisons with the Kinks as well.
By the way, rent or buy Blur\'s video hits DVD if only to see the hilarious \"Coffee and Tea\". Brilliant.
Very, very, VERY.......... beatles.
YES!! More Blur please. This band is SO much more than the "Woo-ooo" song that gets played at EVERY sporting event.
The early stuff from "Modern Life is rubbish" is great.
Bill... more Blur please
I\'ve never heard this band before, but they have certainly listened to a lot of Beatles, haven\'t they?
Great sound. If this is what they do, please play more.
Wasn\'t this band victimized by the so cald battle between them and Oasis, set up by the (English) media? I quess they\'ve just made some good music, listening to this, but that\'s not enough anymore, to a lot of people as it seems.
One of Blur's best for me 👍
If is the best I don't need to hear the worst
