Ever since the days of old
Men would search for wealth untold
They'd dig for silver and for gold
And leave the empty holes
And way down south in the Everglades
Where the black water rolls and the saw grass sways
The eagles fly and the otters play
In the land of the Seminole
So blow, blow Seminole wind
Blow like you're never gonna blow again
I'm callin' to you like a long lost friend
But I know who you are
And blow, blow from Okeechobee
All the way up to Micanopy
Blow across the home of the Seminoles
The alligators and the gar
Progress came and took its toll
And in the name of flood control
They made their plans and they drained the land
Now the glades are going dry
And the last time I walked in the swamp
I sat upon a cypress stump
I listened close and I heard the ghost
Of Osceola cry
So blow, blow Seminole wind
Blow like you're never gonna blow again
I'm callin' to you like a long lost friend
But I know who you are
And blow, blow from the Okeechobee
All the way up to Micanopy
Blow across the home of the Seminoles

RP continues the long grueling descent into becoming a C&W station.
My official search for greener grass has begun.
It's been fun while it lasted.

It looks like gl***man is having a bad day. I like the mix you have going today. A little country is nice.

To me it "sounds" different. I don't mean that it's more overtly country than most offerings on RP, but rather the sound or something is different. I thought for second that iTunes had jumped to another station. I'm not saying I dislike the song though — can't say I love it, but it's not bad.
Love the variety at RP... but this song just doesn't seem to fit. And I think the same thing every time it plays here.

Simply a beautiful song and I love the little piano part at the very end.
I have always loved this song. 9

No, I think this was a joke since the lead singer of Yes is JON Anderson, not JOHN Anderson. Very very different people.
I had to give this a "1". This just sounds like awful country music to me. There may be talent somewhere in the song, but I honestly can't stand to hear any mainstream country.
Are you saying this is a Yes cover? I think not, but I'd sure love to hear their version of this so please feel free to set me straight. Can't find it on iTunes.

I guess this is just one that you either like or you dont...I do.
Either way, I hope at least most can agree with the message.

I'm pretty sure Shesdifferent was just playin' around since the lead singer for Yes was Jon Anderson.
Donna the Buffalo does a version of this--Is THEIRS the original? Anyone know?

I'm usually allergic to country, and this song employs every country cliché, but despite this... it's likable!
Thx for playing this, haven't heard it in a long time.
I happen to live about 5 miles out of Micanopy and there is this old timer I work with that is constantly calling the place My Can A'Pee..I have yet to get used to it :P
No, No, No, No, No!!!!!!!!

Well, if we have to have country, Bill could do worse. at least this one has an interesting melody.
Boy his style sure has changed since he was with Yes.

This is really a love it or hate it kind of song.
Please don't play this again...
I only have one wrist left to slice.
A great song, period.
This song is so very distasteful. Arf!
This is a great song, enough said.
Music is a continuum --Rock ---------folk --------so called county.......disco ........etc. Musical integrity and sustain is what is needed to keep the song above the POP morass!
I have now been officially put on notice that Bill will play ANYTHING. This is a great album in its entirety.
I may need medical assistance!
My ears!

This song hits home. There are some beautiful wild places in Florida, away from the condos and the theme parks, but they are going fast.
This was a pretty big mainstream country hit for him, so even tho I did not care for it then and still don't, I know it pretty well. It's interesting to hear once in a while tho... I'd say about once every 5 years should do.
It would be hard to call RP eclectic without touching many different genres, including country. A very nice choice.
Hmmm. A song that doesn't exploit, degrade, or stereotype Native Americans? How refreshing!
Yee haw, more country for Europe, please!
Listening to this made me follow through............
please make it stop
I find it a very pleasant surprise to hear this song. One of John Anderson's finest - it redeems him after "Just A'Swingin'" years ago.
Hm.....too much country for my (European?) taste here...
No Country Please.

Jeez. Steve Howe still plays a mean pedal steel, but Wakeman has really lost his chops.
LOL. Yours is no disgrace for posting this. And that hat makes Anderson about three feet taller than when I last saw him.
Like it, yes I do and not afraid to admit it, not a guilty pleasure at all. John is much greater than to be cursed with the success of swingin much like joan osborne was cursed with if god was one of us. So many great artists get written off for having one hit song that eveyone is sick to death of hearing.
I am not a big fan of the country genre, but I am glad to see it has not been totoally ignored on RP.
There are good country songs out there that deserve to be played.
Wow, I've never heard "Micanopy" used in a song before...I've lived in Florida 12 years and never heard this.
One of the very few country artists I like. This is a great song! Thanks Bill!
Hahaha! Awesome, this takes me back to college days, dang, love Anderson, a rather underrated country guy, sometimes played our state fair. Great stuff, yeehaw!
YES!!!! Way to go Bill...didn't see that coming.
Well Trey is a generous person. I say enough of the twang. If I don't hear this again, I won't lose sleep.
Thanks Bill. Nice curve ball.
Amusing that the previous song was from a Gainesville native, home of the University of Florida.
At least, amusing to me.

My ears, they bleed!
Awesome! A standout from country radio. One of my favorites from a period when I was listening to a lot of country.
sure sounds a lot like the band (acadian driftwood comes to mind)
nice storytelling
Hate it, with passion. Here is a good example of music that should have never been written, ever.
I used to sing this song aloud through my nose each time it played on the radio. I am not a big country fan but I really like it.
I feel like I'm growing an involuntary mullet.
WTF?
LOL
I live in the 'Home of the Seminoles" and OMG did the Good Ol Boys over play this one
keep the country off RP please
"Blow like your never going to blow again."
I'm going to try that line on my wife tonight.
Finally, a non-elitist music lover (Bill)
I really like this tune.
I love this song, gave it an 8.
But here is my John Anderson story.
I was about 17 and a high school metal head.
I went out with this girl, first date, and she kept saying she had a huge surprise for me. Something that was going to blow me away when I heard it and to brace myself. Finally, she said o.k., sit down, get this, my uncle, is, John Anderson, the singer, you know, the song, Just a Swingin!! Yep, THATS HIM.
I suddenly turned into Beavis and/or Butthead and came back with, "Uh, that song sucks."
For some reason we never had that second date.

I think it came out in 1992..?
Bill, You've got balls! Props for mixing it up!
this guy sounds a bit like Levon Helm
this song makes me sad....or just meloncholy.
my son, I miss him so much, he sang it in 4th grade for a Spring sing. I miss those little kid days.
great voice.
I must admit I just lost a little respect for Bill.
One of the things I like about RP is the variety. Keeps us on our toes!

True. Also, from a collegiate standpoint, kinda ironic that a song that mentions Micanopy (close to Gainesville) has the word "Seminole" in the title.
this from micanopy historical web site:
Chief Micanopy was the chief of the Seminole Nation during the 2nd Seminole War, 1835-1842. His capital village was Cuscowilla, built at the cross of two ancient Indian trails, which later became the American settlement of Micanopy*, founded in 1821.
Chief Micanopy at first was friendly and helpful to the Americans. As time went on and more of the land which the Seminoles believed to be theirs became American farms and settlements, treaties were broken. The Indians were forced against their will to live on a reservation and hostilities began.
After the seven bloody years of the 2nd Seminole War, Chief Micanopy and the remnants of his Alachua band were captured and sent to the Oklahoma Territory where he died in January of 1849.
No -- no country! Can't do it! Ouch -- my ears!!!
APACHE
now SEMINOLE wind,
any guess the next # is
off ROBBIE ROBERTSON's RED ROAD?
(I was just looking at the disc)
I always enjoy when this comes up in the mix.
Ya know, I've only ever seen one otter here in Florida, in the pond behind my house. Plenty of gators though. :) Speaking of which, I haven't seen that otter in a long time...
AAAAAHHHHHH! Whiney country=really bad country. BUT, Donna the Buffalo does a version of this song that is good.
I love this song! I haven't heard it for a long time and never got around to purchasing it. Thank you very much for playing it! One of my interests is Native American history.
I like the Lyrics & the song...I wonder about his other songs? are they more country or more rock? Anyone know?
hey it's robbie someone got thier wish today!
good, good song.
...Apache, now Seminole Wind... now play something from ROBBIE ROBERTSON/ RED ROAD...
Good song. Question is does this guy have any others?
I think I don't own *any* country music but I really like this.

Never thought I'd hear John "Swingin" Anderson on RP. I've always liked him, just never thought I'd hear him hear. I feel my respect for him somewhat validated now.
Very nice Bill! Keep rolling with some borderline country, I'm digging it!
This is a stroke of sheer genius, Bill! I'm sending in my check right now.

Working on it now. It will take some time to figure out the alternatives... Pandora, Apple's new streaming... something.
I don't listen to rap, death metal or country and feel the same about them all.
