William, you are so right. This is one of the defining songs of RP. It lets me know I am listening to the most superlative internet radio station on the planet. Also evokes fond thoughts of the fact I have been listening for upwards of 15 years.

The track should be called "Essence of RP". Whenever I hear it I know I'm in the right place.

I was riding to work on a snowy February morning circa 1999, leaving Manhattan driving up the Hudson to Ossining NY. My coworker put Air in the CD player saying I might like this band he had heard in college.  I think it took about 5 measures and I was floating, levitating, leaving my human body to become one with the aural sensations surrounding me.  Rarely does a first listen ever bring me to this level.   Now two decades + later, it still resonates and recalls so much.  Many thanks to this band.

Usually I don't bother giving low ratings at all, if I don't consider a song "very good" and upwards (say, above 6), I don't have a need to "exercise my right as a registered RP listener to rate a song low". 

I especially don't care for people who need to share their negativity / bad ratings in this forum. There's always PSD and other radio stations. I almost never use PSD, because I totally appreciate Bill's & Rebecca's artistic approach to playlist creation and music choice. For me, using PSD would almost be like skipping an act from a theatre play (that I don't like) by leaving the seat - and coming back afterwards. Radio Paradise program is a creation on its own that has authors behind it, and I fully respect that. 

So I am not trying to "share my negativity", just my emotions about this song. I don't even think it's a "bad song" - I just don't like it (totally subjective, of course) because it stirs something negative inside me that (as evidenced by this post) needs to get out.

This track is almost twenty years old, and it's still got the magic.  

I call this genre exactly what it is: Post-Midnight Funky Jazz.

I had one of the best mushroom trips ever to this song and remember it vividly and fondly every time I hear this, it's beautiful in every way.

There are some really great video shorts that use this song.  It has a very dreamy quality.  I feel like the musicians must have all felt they were in the groove and flow when they made this.

I keep thinking "it's time for bed" but then RP throws on another excellent track and I end up thinking "maybe after this tune."

Air playing LaFemme D'Argent,...a perfect song for today.  It's blowing about 25, gusting higher and the boat is dancing all over her slip.

I suppose at some point in the next several decades, I might get tired of hearing this song.
