You could never be
What you wanted to be
'Cause sweetheart it takes time
Someday you're gonna shine
You'll see

You'll be a Russian acrobat
You'll be like Burt Bacharach
You come to the party, you say "What's new pussycat?"
Someday you're gonna shine
You'll see

Don't wanna talk about it
You come around to tell it
You're beautiful can't you see?
Someday you're gonna shine
You'll see

(Someday you're gonna shine)
(Someday you're gonna shine)

Someday you're gonna shine

Someday you're gonna shine (aaah)
Someday you're gonna shine

Someday you're gonna shine (you're gonna) (aaah)
Someday you're gonna shine

Someday you're gonna shine (aaah)
Yeah someday you're gonna shine (you're gonna shine)

Love this song.
How is this only a 6..3????

Someday this song is gonna shine, you'll see.
to all the haters.
the song is totally worth it. Just to say
What’s new pussycat.
Wait, someday you're gonna... what? I didn't catch that, could say it again?

The song is so dull.  And repetitive.  And the exaggerated vocals, like he's got something in his mouth.  I agree, that's it?
Thank you professor Lowery
love it.

and now for some reason, i want to hear some aimee mann from the magnolia soundtrack.
Funny what makes a song enjoyable. Pull the parts and not much here. Together. The vibe is captivating.

Let us see what you have created LOQUIN!
This is solid to the core.
Rock and Roll man.

David Lowery INDEED!

Surprising, but which song of Supertramp ?

I agree with the comparison. Can't put my finger on it but believes it owes to the way the keys play a more prominent role until the obligatory distorted guitars take over and dominate the song before relenting.
Anthem from my depression days...now, I shine! Thanks, Cracker, you guys make me dance in my kitchen.
I love David Lowery's guttural inspirations

This song could easily made it on the white album...
Check out 'Brides of Neptune' on the same album! But I like this one too

"Teen Angst (What the World Needs Now)" - 4:31"Happy Birthday to Me" - 3:29"This is Cracker Soul" - 3:38"I See the Light" - 5:11"St. Cajetan" - 5:22"Mr. Wrong" - 4:34"Someday" - 3:19"Can I Take My Gun to Heaven?" - 3:59"Satisfy You" - 3:27"Another Song About the Rain" - 5:46"Don't Fuck Me Up (With Peace and Love)" - 3:08"Dr. Bernice" - 6:20

Lazy, repetative, banal lyrics can sometimes work (examples greatfully anticipated) but not in this case.
Next up: Be Bop Deluxe: "Shine"

COMPLETELY agree. Don't know why we don't hear any of the truly great Cracker tunes on RP, the majority from the debut??

Dull and monotonous. In every other way it's not too bad.
Could use a few more repetitions of "someday you're gonna shine"...
Echoes of John Lennon throughout....
Yeah, baby!  These guys, in a couple hours, jamming a New Year's Eve Party, at The Soiled Dove Underground in Denver...just about to head out to it...then this came on...
SHINE! and may 2013 be a Rockin' Good Year for ALL!

I absolutely loved Cracker up until (but including) Gentleman's Blues and then somehow they lost their spark for me. They are still great performers, but somehow the lyrics/songs lacked the intensity and playfulness of the "old" Cracker. This album in particular is one of my favorites. Don't F me up is a great, great song, in fact, the whole album is so, so good!{#High-five}

Rather like this.
Surely a homage to a freshly-made lightbulb? :o)

I'll get me coat...
much better than Coulibaly!
So low rated!? For me its a nice song!
Yea...someday...
Thanks RP for turning me on to Cracker..... and sooo many more!
love. it.
I haven't heard this one in sometime! This is a nice song, I forgot all about it!{#Clap}

I see they finally added "Happy Birthday", but "I See The Light" is still untapped.  I like that cut too, but I'd rather hear "Can I Take My Gun To Heaven" if I had a choice.

Let's Hear Either Of 'Em!

One of the best things about living in Charleston SC is that Cracker plays at the Windjammer every summer...

Check out David Lowery in his youth in the band Camper Van Beethoven.  The album Key Lime Pie is a masterpiece.

Sure it's derivative, but I like it. I also heard echoes of various Beatles songs, as well as Ballad of a Thin Man. The use of references to melodies that are in the canon (if a song from the 1960s qualifies for this term) is not bad, if done in the right manner, and I think this works. The song is not great, by any standard, but also not bad.
Just that line, Ya' Be Like a Russian Acrobat, Ya' Be Like Burt Bacharach! won me to run and crank it...
Creative, wry; really dig these guys!

Talentless hacks. Can't write a song OR sing it well.
anything beatles...john lennon , mc cartney ringo george......julian lennon.........would really love to hear Chrissy (the pretenders) do this
It also reminds me of The Beatles, circa the white album - the music and instruments, not the vocals.
A gem... a crazy diamond.

I can't get enough of them, I love Cracker
As well as all the Beatles' stuff, there's a strong reminder of the chord sequence from Ballad of a Thin Man lurking away in there.
The message of the lyrics is positive, but the pace and music is sort of downtrodden. Someday you're gonna shine. Some-day. Not today. Probably not tomorrow either.
Man, I really miss older Cracker. Everything after Gentlemans Blues has really been a letdown. Kerosene Hat and the Golden Age are really exceptional albums. Cracker Forever and now this Greenland are pretty dismal efforts. Oh well, they were good once upon a time. And Camper is still pretty solid. Life goes on.
I am the eggman..I am the walrus...
Why play something so obviously derivative (if not a blatant rip-off) of the Beatles when it brings nothing new or original to the music scene? Just play the Beatles instead.

Zat sure sounds like Sheryl Crow in there, but AMG doesn't say so. Anybody have inside information?

Whjat are y\'all THINKING? This song is damned inspiring! I WANT to shine someday! Don\'t YOU? The dj must be reading these posts. Just played \"Shine on Brightly\" by Procol Harum. The dj recognized the \"Whiter Shade of Pale\" connection and extended it to a \"Shine..\" connection. 1 very hip DJ!
