What a voice - for my money one of the best ever. In my top 3 female vocalists. Chrissie Hind has the sexiest voice, no contest. For best voice, it's between Sinead and Natalie Merchant.
Always so much passion and conviction. She never did anything half-assed.

This song is my favorite from her. Good lyrics by Bono without being overbearing or on the nose. Effectively sets the mood for the film directed by Jim Sheridan.

It really hurt when I heard the sad news. I've always had deep respect for Sinéad. From the music it was obvious she was a tormented soul, but she kept on pushing on with her unique style and total disregard for abiding by the mainstream.

The fact that she then went on a press campaign following Shane's arrest and talked about her concern for Shane, how horrible heroin is, and her desire to help him by informing on him. Certainly the part of heroin is true. But I suspect she was more animated by the attention, not concern for Shane.

In the days of my youth... didn't get her. My how my taste of music has grown. Been listening here since I believe 2004 might have something to do with it... lol. Fell in love with her voice, passion, power and her voice .Love it! Just Like Loreena McKennitt and so many others just... music for the soul...
This track comes up regularly on RP--only 3 times in the last month? But it grabs me every time. Some people have terrible voices, but can sing up a storm. (Dylan or John Hiatt, anyone?) Others have good voices but aren't particularly good singers. (No examples come to mind, but you know what I mean.) Ms. O'Connor is that wonderful combination of voice and talent. I wish her all the best in her life.
