A friend of mine played trombone, professionally. When people asked him what he did for a living, he replied I blow bone.
Sounds so much like porcupine tree

You are correct about Strange About Your Hands, but there's more, partial list here:

Some would say it's stolen from "Strange About Your Hands", the original by the italian prog-band "Sensations Fix".

Yup - made me walk across the room to double check! Saw SW in Melbourne last year - a real treat and a full night.
For a second, I thought this might be a remix of Poe's "Dolphin", from her Hello album....

He's a bit more eclectic than that, but if you had to pigeon-hole him, that would be a reasonable label. If yo haven't, try to see a live show. He's very diverse, and brings a proper skills based performance in this day and age of DJs who are all style and no substance.

Love the Shadow. More (anything?) from Endtroducing would be ace too. Or, dare I suggest (it's long, but awesome), the "What does your soul look like" EP.

I probably don't know your specific cousins over here, but plenty of people get this sort of dance/trance stuff on the western side of the Atlantic - DJ Shadow is from California. I think a lot of RP's listeners (or at least the ones who post comments) don't care for trance, trip-hop, and electronica - it doesn't sound like that 1960s and '70s music (i.e., Classic Rock) that many of them seem to regard above all else. It seems like it's largely a generational thing in the US - who knows?

This has got to be on some soundtrack, somewhere... otherwise, where to file it?
Wait a second, I just realized that this is not Porcupine Tree...
Awesome, just awesome.
usually any 'artist' that has "DJ" or "MC" in their name is an absolute SuckFest waiting to happen....but DJ Shadow proved me wrong this time....

Shadow is one of the most talented DJs of all time and has pushed the boundries of hip hop and electronic music to some awesome levels. If you dig any DJs you should delve a little deeper into this guys stuff. If you dislike all DJs then give it a miss, along with all the other innovative and exciting hiphop/electronic music that's been released in the last few decades. Your loss.

Agreed. I respect the right of that other guy not to like this but his criticism didn't make any sense and makes me think he doesn't give this music a fair go. More Shadow and UNKLE!
I suddenly feel really anxious after that

i'm with you, man... the newest album is great stuff, but i'd still love to hear a lot of the tracks from Preemptive and Endtroducing. High Noon and Organ Grinder come to mind. either way, i'm glad to hear any shadow in the mix here at RP.
check out his website - click here - for some videos, more audio, etc. Shadow is the man.

i know what you mean buddy. why would they reject his early stuff? and whats with the ignorance here, shadow is only the grandfather to hip-hop and single-handedly shaped it to what it is. i suppose RP listeners could give a shit about about that. what i would give to hear flat out hip-hop on RP.

I was listening, and I was awake. Then this song came on. Then I started drifting, drifting, eyelids heavy... closing...
Then the song ended and I woke right up.
